Whitetop Laurel
Whitetop Laurel is a wildland in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests of western Virginia that has been recognized by the Wilderness Society as a special place worthy of protection from logging and road construction. The Wilderness Society has designated the area as a "Mountain Treasure".The Appalachian Trail and Virginia Creeper Trail follow Whitetop Laurel Creek through a gorge with rich cove hardwood forests and thick rhododendrons. The area is one of the most popular recreational hubs in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. Whitetop Laurel Creek is a popular wild trout stream with wildlife viewing platforms and streamside access by wheelchair.The area is part of the Mount Rogers Cluster.
