Barcelona (Senate constituency)

Barcelona (Catalan: [bəɾsəˈlonə], Spanish: [baɾθeˈlona]) is a province of eastern Spain, in the center of the autonomous community of Catalonia. The province is bordered by the provinces of Tarragona, Lleida, and Girona, and by the Mediterranean Sea. Its area is 7,726 km2 (2,983 sq mi). 5,743,402 people live in the province, of whom about 29% (1,664,182) live within the administrative limits of the city of Barcelona, which itself is contained in the Barcelona metropolitan area.

Barcelona is one of the four constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Parliament of Catalonia, the regional legislature of the autonomous community of Catalonia. The constituency currently elects 85 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Barcelona. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of three percent.

The constituency currently elects 32 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Barcelona. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of three percent.

La Floresta is a railway station in Sant Cugat del Vallès in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is served by lines S1, S2, S5, and S55 of the Metro del Vallès commuter rail system, which are operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, who also run the station.The station has twin tracks, with two side platforms. It is in fare zone 2C of the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità fare system.Although the line through La Floresta opened in 1917, linking Les Planes with Sant Cugat del Vallès, the station itself did not open until 1925.

It is in fare zone 2C of the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità fare system.Although the line through Valldoreix opened in 1917, linking Les Planes with Sant Cugat del Vallès, the station itself did not open until 1931.

It is served by lines S1, S2, S5, and S55 of the Metro del Vallès commuter rail system, which are operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), who also runs the station.Sant Cugat is the last station before the Metro del Vallès branches to Terrassa (lines S1 and S5) and Sabadell (lines S2 and S55) split and take different routes. Sant Cugat is also the outer terminus of some trains on line S5. The station is in fare zone 2C of the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità fare system.The station has twin tracks, with two side platforms, and a pedestrian subway links the two platforms. Immediately to the north of the station is a flat junction between the two branches. Beyond this junction, between the tracks of the Sabadell branch, is a siding used to reverse trains on line S55.The station opened in 1917 with the opening of the line from Les Planes.

The National Archive of Catalonia (ANC, Catalan: Arxiu Nacional de Catalunya, Occitan: Archiu Nacional de Catalonha, Spanish: Archivo Nacional de Cataluña), is a body created by the Generalitat of Catalonia by decree 28 November 1980. Located in Sant Cugat del Vallès, it is the Catalonia government's official archive, and holds both government and private documents relating to Catalonia's society, politics, economics and history. As government's historical archive, the ANC collects, preserves and disseminates the most relevant records of Catalonia's political and administrative activity of the departments, institutions and companies that make up the Government of Catalonia.

Torre Negra is a 12th-century fort built in 1145 in Catalonia, Spain, to defend the territories of Sant Cugat.Torre Negra is a fortified building built in a strategic defensive position. The fort consists of three floors and an observation platform with arrow and cannon windows on some angles. Most of the structure is made of stone and most the windows have iron bars.

The Monastery of Sant Cugat (Catalan: Monestir de Sant Cugat, Spanish: Monasterio de San Cugat del Vallés) is a Benedictine abbey in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Catalonia, Spain. Founded in the ninth century, and under construction until the 14th century, it was the most important monastery in the county of Barcelona. Its most notable architectural feature is its large Romanesque cloister.

Les Planes is a railway station in Les Planes, in the Serra de Collserola hills, part of the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona. It is served by lines S1 and S2 of the Metro del Vallès commuter rail system, which are operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, who also run the station.The station has three tracks, although the track nearest the station building is a terminal track only accessible from the south. The tracks are served by four platform faces, but only those of the island platform between the through tracks are in normal use. This platform is accessed by footbridge, stairs, and lifts.The station building is the only example of a railway station in Catalonia executed in the modernista or art nouveau style. It opened in 1916 as the northern terminus of the first section of the line from Peu del Funicular station to the Vallès.

The Sant Cugat Museum (Catalan: Museu de Sant Cugat, Spanish: Museo de Sant Cugat) was opened on 23 April 2003; its mission was to oversee the conservation and dissemination of the historic, artistic and cultural heritage of Sant Cugat del Vallès in Catalonia. It is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network and has two centres: the Sant Cugat Monastery and Casa Aymat plus two other buildings, the Celler Modernista and the Chapel of Sant Domenec. In both areas there are spaces reserved for temporary exhibitions related to art, history and local and universal heritage. In addition, the Museum works to recover the heritage and memory of the town, periodically organising walks that help people discover local history and heritage.

Mira-Sol is a railway station of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) train system in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is in the municipality Sant Cugat del Vallès, in the comarca of Vallès Occidental. It is serviced by FGC lines S1, and S5. The station is in fare zone 2C.The station was opened in 1948 even though trains had already been passing through the station since 1918.
