Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk

Matilo or Matilone was once a Roman fort (castellum) in modern-day Leiden. Positioned on the southern banks of the Oude Rijn, it served to protect the Roman borders in the province of Germania inferior (Limes Germanicus). On the Peutinger map, it lies between the encampments of Albaniana (Alphen aan den Rijn) and Praetorium Agrippinae (Valkenburg). The seventh-century Ravenna Cosmography gives its name as Matellionem.

Bonaventura College is a Catholic secondary school in Leiden, Netherlands. The school offers education in gymnasium, atheneum, HAVO, and VMBO. It has three branches in Leiden. Together with Visser 't Hooft Lyceum, it is part of the Leiden Confessional Education Foundation. It was preceded by the Jesuit St. Willibrord College of 1831 which moved to The Hague in 1927, leading to the founding in Leiden of St. Bonaventure by the Franciscans.

Bonaventura College Burggravenlaan is one of four secondary schools that make up the Bonaventura College in Leiden, Netherlands. The name "Burggravenlaan" is derived from the street in which the school is based. The school offers education at vmbo-tl, havo and vwo (both atheneum and gymnasium) level. The school is officially noted as Roman Catholic. Bonaventuracollege Burggravenlaan currently consists of two buildings; the original and a new building built on the schoolyard in 2001. The older and the newer part are linked together by a corridor supported by pillars. The school also hosts an annual Model United Nations-conference named BonaMUN. Di Fidanza is the schoolpaper completely made by students, for the students. Set up by prior editor-in-chiefs Lilian Dirks and Carina de Bruin in 2009. On 28 September 2009, the school was evacuated because of a threat for an explosion. The students were let back into the school that same day.

Leiderdorp (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌlɛidərˈdɔr(ə)p] (listen)) is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland near the city of Leiden. It had a population of 27,109 in 2019. The municipality covers an area of 12.28 km2 (4.74 sq mi) of which 0.70 km2 (0.27 sq mi) is water. Leiderdorp has now become a suburb of the city of Leiden, although the Oude Rijn (Old Rhine) river and the Zijl river separate the two. The HSL-Zuid high-speed rail line between Amsterdam and Brussels crosses Leiderdorp in a tunnel. It is one of the oldest towns in South Holland province and was a base for the Spanish army in the Eighty Years' War.

Zoeterwoude (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌzutərˈʋʌudə] (listen)) is a municipality in the province of South Holland, Western Netherlands. It covers 21.96 km2 (8.48 sq mi) of which 0.77 km2 (0.30 sq mi) is water. It had a population of 8,450 in 2019. Located to the southeast of Leiden and north of Zoetermeer, the municipality of Zoeterwoude consists of Gelderswoude, Weipoort, Westeinde, Zoeterwoude-Dorp, Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk and Zuidbuurt.

Zijlpoort is a city gate in Leiden, The Netherlands. The gate was built in 1667 in the classical style according to a design by the Leiden architect Willem van der Helm and with sculpture by Rombout Verhulst. Because the gates have to connect with the city wall as well as with a bridge, the building is in the form of a parallelogram. The Zijlpoort, together with the Morspoort (1669) and Doelenpoort (1645), are the only of the original eight gates that survived. The name refers to the nearby river, the Zijl. The predecessor of the Zijlpoort stood at the end of the Haarlemmerstraat that is now called the Havenplein. In the course of time, the Zijlpoort has, together with the hall above the passage, fulfilled different purposes over time: for example, at the beginning of the 18th century, a society of amateur poets and playwrights (a so-called guild of "rederijkers") was based there, and from 1736 there was a school for poor children. Afterwards in the late 19th century, the city had a storage room above the gate. In the last quarter of the 20th century, the Zijlpoort was renovated twice on a large scale. During the last renovation, in the 1990s, supporting constructions were put up on both sides of the gate. Since 1999, a catering shop has been established in one of them.

Weipoort is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Zoeterwoude, and lies about 6 km north of Zoetermeer. The statistical area "Weipoort", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 400.

St. Joseph Church is the largest Roman Catholic parish church still in use in Leiden in the diocese of Rotterdam. It is also called the Herensingelkerk, because it is situated at the street called Herensingel. The church is a national heritage site and one of the tallest buildings in the centre of Leiden.

Museum Het Leids Wevershuis consists of one of the last remaining "weavers' homes" (1560) in Leiden, Netherlands. The exterior, the large antique loom (1830) and the interior, are testimony of the once flourishing textile industry (and trade) around Leiden, in particular during the 16th and 17th century, when many home weavers supplied the draper's guild with high quality woolen cloth.

Vrijplaats Koppenhinksteeg (Freespace on Koppenhinksteeg street) was a complex of buildings first squatted in 1968 in Leiden, the Netherlands. It took its name from the alley on which it was located and was run since the 1990s by the Vrijplaats Koppenhinksteeg Foundation. Various groups including Eurodusnie used the different spaces as a bar, café, a freeshop, a foundation to support undocumented migrants, an information centre, a library and a sports club. In 2010, the entire complex was evicted. From 2012 onwards a new space called the Vrijplaats Leiden (Freespace Leiden) was set up elsewhere.

Leiden Lammenschans is a railway station in Leiden, Netherlands. The station, designed by Koen van der Gaast, was opened on 18 May 1961. It is served by trains running between Leiden Centraal and Utrecht Centraal, and by RijnGouweLijn trains running between Leiden Centraal and Gouda at peak hours. Leiden Lammenschans was named after the nearby fortification Schans Lammen, the encampment of the Spanish troops during the Siege of Leiden in 1573 and 1574.

The Hooglandse Kerk is a Gothic church in Leiden. Its earliest parts date back to the last quarter of the fourteenth century. Most of the current structure dates from the fifteenth century. The brick church was dedicated to St. Pancras and today serves parishioners of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands.
