Wamel

Tiel (Dutch pronunciation: [til] ) is a municipality and a town in the middle of the Netherlands. The town is enclosed by the Waal river and the Linge river to the South and the North, and the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal to the East. Tiel comprises the population centres Kapel-Avezaath, Tiel and Wadenoijen. The city was founded in the 5th century CE.

Tiel is a railway station located in Tiel, Netherlands. The station opened on 1 November 1882 and is on the Elst–Dordrecht railway. Train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen and Arriva. The station is the end of the electrified line from Geldermalsen. The line to Elst remains non-electrified.

De Wielewaal (English: The Mule) is a tower mill in Beneden-Leeuwen, Gelderland, Netherlands which was built in 1857 and is in working order. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument.

Echteld is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Neder-Betuwe, and lies about 6 km east of Tiel. Echteld was a separate municipality between 1818 and 2002, when it was merged with Kesteren. Before 1818, the municipality was called Ochten, after a neighbouring village.

Dreumel is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Maas en Waal, and lies about 4 km south of Tiel. Dreumel was a separate municipality until 1984, when it was merged with Wamel.

Beneden-Leeuwen is a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Maas en Waal, and lies about 7 km east of Tiel, on the opposite (southern) bank of the river Waal. Beneden-Leeuwen has 6,925 inhabitants on 1 July 2021. It is the Catholic part of the former village Leeuwen.

West Maas en Waal (Dutch pronunciation: [ʋɛst ˈmaːs ɛn ˈʋaːl] (listen)) is a municipality in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The municipality covers the western part of the Land van Maas en Waal, an island located between the Meuse and Waal rivers.

Ommerenveld is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Buren, and lies about 6 km northeast of Tiel. The postal authorities have placed it under Ommeren. Ommerenveld still has a school.

The Waal (Dutch name, pronounced [ʋaːl]) is the main distributary branch of the river Rhine flowing approximately 80 km (50 mi) through the Netherlands. It is the major waterway connecting the port of Rotterdam to Germany. Before it reaches Rotterdam, it joins with the Afgedamde Maas near Woudrichem to form the Boven Merwede. Along its length, Nijmegen, Tiel, Zaltbommel and Gorinchem are towns of importance with direct access to the river. The river, which is the main channel in the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta system, carries 65% of the total flow of the Rhine.

Alphen (also known as Alphen aan de Maas) is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Maas en Waal, and lies about 7 km north of Oss. Alphen was a separate municipality until 1818, when it became a part of Appeltern. The statistical area "Alphen" includes the hamlets of Moordhuizen, Greffeling, and Nieuwe Schans.

The Oijen Ferry is a cable ferry across the river Meuse in the Netherlands. The ferry crosses from the village of Oijen in North Brabant, to a point near Alphen in Gelderland. The crossing is located some 24 kilometres (15 mi) north-east of 's-Hertogenbosch.

Zennewijnen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Tiel, and lies about 3 km south of Tiel. It was first mentioned in 850 as Sinuinum. The etymology in unclear. The Premonstratensian monastery Mariënschoot was located near Zennewijnen since the 13th century and a site for pilgrimage. In 1372, the monastery burnt down and was demolished in 1572. In 1840, it was home to 171 people. There is a still a brickworks in Zennewijnen.
