Madhavaram taluk is a taluk of Chennai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The centre of the taluk is the neighbourhood of Madhavaram. The headquarters of the taluk is Tondiarpet division. And the taluk has been bifurcated from Ambattur taluk and on 2018 it has been annexed to Chennai district from tiruvallur by expanding Chennai city. And the taluk Has regions of Kathirvedu, Lakshmipuram, Madhavaram, Madhavaram Milk Colony, Mathur, Ponniammanmedu, Puthagaram, Puzhal, Surapet, Redhills, and the RTO of the taluk is TN 05 (Chennai North).

Its State Assembly Constituency number is 9. It is included in the Thiruvallur Lok Sabha constituency. It consists of areas like Mathur MMDA, Manali, Milk Colony, Ponniammedu, Madhavaram, Puzhal. It was divided from the Ambattur taluk. It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu.

Madhavaram Milk Colony is a neighbourhood in north of Chennai, a metropolitan city in Chennai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Madhavaram Milk Colony is a small habitat of 5000+ population in the northern part of Chennai. Due to the set up of first co-operative milk producing union Aavin of Chennai, this place was called Madhavaram Milk Colony. Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is situated here. Madhavaram Depot metro station is a metro railway station on the Red Line of the Chennai Metro. The station is the only at-grade station of the Chennai Metro, and one of the 48 stations of the Madhavaram Milk Colony–Sholinganallur stretch. The station serves the neighbourhoods of Madhavaram.

Madhavaram Milk Colony metro station is an upcoming underground-interchange metro station on the Purple Line and Red Line of Chennai Metro in Chennai, India. This metro station will be among the 28 underground stations of Corridor III and 6 underground stations of Corridor V of the Chennai Metro. This station is slated to be operational by 2027, making it a key metro rail terminal hub of North Chennai.
