The Yorkshire Waterways Museum was a multi-award-winning museum in Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Its mission was to 'Use the heritage, arts and environment of the Yorkshire waterways as a resource for learning and regeneration'. The museum also hosted a Tom Pudding hoist which is grade II listed. This allowed little tub boats carrying coal from South Yorkshire to be unloaded at Goole Docks and put into ocean-going vessels.

The Borough of Boothferry was, from 1 April 1974 to 1 April 1996, a local government district with borough status within the non-metropolitan county of Humberside. The district is now split between the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. The borough was formed from parts of three administrative counties: from the West Riding of Yorkshire came the former borough of Goole and Goole Rural District, from the East Riding of Yorkshire came Howden Rural District and from Lincolnshire, Parts of Lindsey came Isle of Axholme Rural District. The district was named after the village of Boothferry, site of a bridge over the River Ouse, near the centre of the borough. The council established its headquarters at Bank Chambers in the centre of Goole.

The Port of Goole (also known as Goole Docks and The Port in Green Fields), is a maritime port at the mouth of the Aire and Calder Navigation where it feeds into the River Ouse, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The port opened in 1826, when the Aire and Calder Navigation was completed, connecting to the River Ouse at what is now the town of Goole. The port is one of the Humber Ports, associated with the waterway of the Humber Estuary and its tributaries, and is known to be Britain's largest inland port, being some 50 miles (80 km) from the open sea. It has good road and rail transport links, and deals with about £800 million worth of trade each year. Originally the port was in the West Riding of Yorkshire, but was transferred to Humberside in 1974, then it was moved into the East Riding of Yorkshire in 1996.

Airmyn is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated at the mouth of the River Aire with the River Ouse, approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north-west of Goole. It lies to the west of the M62 motorway and the A614 road. According to the 2011 UK census, Airmyn parish had a population of 768, a fall from the 2001 UK census figure of 795. The parish covers an area of 1,155.353 hectares (2,854.94 acres). The parish was part of the Goole Rural District in the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1894 to 1974, then in Boothferry district of Humberside until 1996. In the Middle Ages, Airmyn was a small port, and up to the 18th century its dead were taken by boat upstream to be buried at Snaith, as it was quicker to go by river than by horse and cart.

St John's Church or the Church of St John the Evangelist is an active parish church in the town of Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was built between 1843 and 1848 in the Gothic Revival style and has been an active place of worship for Christians since. The church is located on Church Street, near to the town centre and port; it is the main parish church of the town. It is a grade I listed building.

Goole railway station is a railway station in the port town of Goole on the Hull and Doncaster Branch in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The station and its passenger services are managed and provided by Northern. Lines from Goole run north to the Hull and Selby Line at Gilberdyke (formerly Staddlethorpe); south to the South Humberside Main Line near Thorne; there is also a westward line to Knottingley mostly used by freight, with an infrequent passenger service. The station opened in 1869 replacing a terminus station in the Goole docks.

Goole was a parliamentary constituency centred on the town of Goole in the West Riding of Yorkshire which returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, elected by the first-past-the-post voting system. It was created for the 1950 general election, and abolished for the 1983 general election.

Goole was a rural district in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England from 1894 to 1974.It was created under the Local Government Act 1894, based on most of the Goole rural sanitary district (two parishes of which in Lincolnshire became part of the Isle of Axholme Rural District). The town of Goole itself formed a separate urban district. The district contained the following parishes: Adlingfleet Airmyn Eastoft Fockerby Goole Fields Gowdall Haldenby Hook Ousefleet Pollington Rawcliffe Reedness Snaith and Cowick Swinefleet WhitgiftIn 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, the district became part of the Boothferry district of Humberside. Since 1996 it has been divided between the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire unitary authorities.

At the 2021 UK census, Goole parish had a population of 20,475. It is 16 miles (26 km) north-east of Doncaster, 19 miles (31 km) south of York and 29 miles (47 km) west of Hull. The town has the United Kingdom's furthest inland port, being about 50 miles (80 km) from the North Sea. It is capable of handling nearly 2 million tonnes of cargo per year, making it one of the most important ports on England's east coast. Goole is twinned with Złotów in Poland. Goole was informally twinned with Gibraltar in the 1960s; at that time, Gibraltar Court was named in Goole and Goole Court was named in Gibraltar.
