Gloucester Public Library

Winston Hall, also known as Constitution House, is a grade II* listed building in Constitution Walk, off Bell Lane, in the city of Gloucester, England.It was built in 1750 as a townhouse for Richard Chandler, a wealthy wool-stapler, and remained in the Chandler family until 1876 when it became a school for young ladies. In 1883, it became the clubhouse for the Gloucester branch of the Conservative Party and is now a private member's club known as the Constitution Club.

The Museum of Gloucester in Brunswick Road is the main museum in the city of Gloucester, England. It was extensively renovated following a large National Heritage Lottery Fund grant, and reopened on Gloucester Day, 3 September 2011.In March 2016, the museum rebranded itself; it used to be called the Gloucester City Museum & Art Gallery.Gloucester Life is a smaller museum in Westgate Street, dealing with the social history of Gloucestershire.

Greyfriars, Gloucester, England, was a medieval monastic house founded about 1231.In about 1518 a prominent local family, the Berkeleys of Berkeley Castle, paid for the church to be rebuilt in Perpendicular Gothic style. The rest of the friary complex was later demolished.

The siege of Gloucester took place between 10 August and 5 September 1643 during the First English Civil War. It was part of a Royalist campaign led by King Charles I to take control of the Severn Valley from the Parliamentarians. Following the costly storming of Bristol on 26 July, Charles invested Gloucester in the hope that a show of force would prompt it to surrender quickly and without bloodshed. When the city, under the governorship of Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Massey, refused, the Royalists attempted to bombard it into submission. Massey adopted an aggressive defence, and the Royalist positions outside the city were regularly disrupted by Parliamentarian raids. The Royalist artillery proved inadequate for the task of siege work and, faced with a shortage of ammunition, the besiegers attempted to breach the city walls by mining. With Royalist miners about to reach the city's east gate and the defenders critically low on gunpowder, a Parliamentarian army led by the Earl of Essex arrived and forced Charles to lift the siege.

Kings Walk Shopping Centre is a single-storey indoor shopping centre in Gloucester, England. Built between 1969 and 1972, it is part of the Kings Quarter development that includes an outdoor pedestrianised area.Beneath a trapdoor in the centre is the Kings Walk Bastion, the remains of a 1,900 year old Roman city wall and tower.

9 and 9A Southgate Street is a 17th-century Jacobean timber-framed merchant's house on Southgate Street, Gloucester. It has been a Grade I listed building since 23 January 1952. 9 Southgate Street is now occupied by Costa Coffee and 9A Southgate Street is occupied by The Tiger's Eye restaurant.

St Michael's Tower, Gloucester, stands at The Cross, where the four main streets of Gloucester (Northgate, Eastgate, Southgate and Westgate Streets) meet. The Cross is also the highest point in the city. The Tower is on the corner of Eastgate and Southgate Streets and the entrance is in Southgate Street. It was built in 1465 on the site of the previous St Michael the Archangel. It is no longer used for religious ceremonies. It became a Grade II* listed building in 1952.

The New Inn, 16 Northgate Street, Gloucester, England, is a timber framed building used as a public house, hotel and restaurant. It is the most complete surviving example of a medieval courtyard inn with galleries in Britain, and is a Grade I listed building. The announcement of Lady Jane Grey's succession to the English throne was made from the Inn gallery in 1553.

St Mary de Crypt Church, Southgate Street, Gloucester, is an Anglican Church, which was first recorded in 1140 as The Church of the Blessed Mary within Southgate. It is in the Diocese of Gloucester and is located adjacent to the ruins of Greyfriars. It has also been known as Christ Church and St. Mary in the South. St Mary de Crypt is a Grade I listed building.

Gloucester Guildhall is a former municipal building in Eastgate Street, Gloucester, which is now used as a arts and theatre venue. It is a Grade II listed building.

Marylone (sometimes called St Mary's Lane) is a short pedestrian street in Gloucester that runs from Southgate Street to Addison's Folly.The street is entered from Southgate Street through the same archway that provides access to the old Crypt School. On its south side is the graveyard for St Mary de Crypt church, and on the north commercial premises. The street was probably laid out during the replanning of Gloucester in the 10th century by Queen Æthelflæd who was a daughter of King Alfred. Although the street is now very short, during the medieval period it went as far as the eastern city wall. The street is now almost entirely taken up with seating for Cafe Rene. The street is paved with carboniferous limestone with borders of cobbles.

Eastgate Street is one of the ancient streets in Gloucester, so named because its eastern end was originally the location of the east gate in the city's walls. The part beyond the gate as far as GL1 leisure Centre was part of Barton Street It runs from the crossroads of Northgate, Eastgate, Southgate and Westgate Streets in the West (The Cross) to Barton Street in the East.
