Thringstone is a village in the North West Leicestershire district, in Leicestershire, England. About 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Coalville, it lies in the English National Forest.Until 1875, Thringstone had been a township within the ancient parish of Whitwick. The township of Thringstone, based on a feudal (manorial) division of land carved out during the Anglo-Saxon period, comprised Thringstone village (then known as South Thringstone) and the hamlets of Peggs Green and Rotten Row in an area known as North Thringstone. Thringstone became an independent and autonomous civil parish in 1866, though this was dissolved on 1 April 1936 when outlying parts of the parish were transferred to Belton, Coleorton, Osgathorpe, Swannington and Worthington and the remainder was transferred to the civil parish and Urban District of Coalville. In 1931 the parish had a population of 1,566. The geographical area known as Thringstone today bears little resemblance to that known as Thringstone before World War II. In 2023, Thringstone is not part of a civil parish.

Thringstone Halt railway station was a station on the Charnwood Forest Railway. Near the village of Thringstone, Leicestershire at 52.7503354N 1.3638816E. On the outskirts of Whitwick. Opened in 1907 as a stop on the line between Loughborough Derby Road and Coalville East. The station closed in 1931 when passenger services on the line with withdrawn. Today, the cutting and halt have been filled in but the bridge carrying a minor road over the halt is still visible.

The Grace Dieu Priory was an independent Augustinian priory near Thringstone in Leicestershire, England. It was founded around 1235-1241 by Roesia de Verdun and dissolved in October 1538. It was dedicated to the Holy Trinity and St Mary. Today the site is managed by the Friends of Grace Dieu Priory, a charitable group of volunteers who fundraise to care for the site, and keep it open to the public for free.

Today, nothing remains of the halt and the trackbed is now a footpath. Nearby is also Grace Dieu Priory and Manor School, which were served by the halt.

Grace Dieu Manor is a 19th-century country house near Thringstone in Leicestershire, England, occupied by Grace Dieu Manor School until 2020. It is a Grade II listed building.

Grace Dieu Manor School was a private Catholic preparatory school at Grace-Dieu, near Thringstone in Leicestershire, England. It was founded in May 1933 by the Rosminians as a prep school for Ratcliffe College, and occupied the 19th-century Grace Dieu Manor, which has about 120 acres (50 hectares) of grounds. The school closed in July 2020 and the site placed on the market.

Osgathorpe is a small village which lies in a fold of the hills in North West Leicestershire, England, and is about a quarter of a mile from the A512 Coalville to Loughborough Road. The civil parish population at the 2011 census was 411.The parish church is dedicated to Saint Mary the Blessed Virgin and dates from the fourteenth century. It was heavily restored in the nineteenth century, with the addition of a polygonal apse to the chancel. A tower with a small pyramid turret was built at the south west corner of the church in around 1930 and contains two bells, which are rung using a clocking method. There are pleasing north and south windows to the nave and chancel, and in the south wall of the nave can be seen a very unusual hagioscope (or squint), which is set diagonally within the stonework, to allow a view of the altar. Opposite the church is the village school, built in 1670, with almshouses of the same date. There is also a good example of a sixteenth-century yeoman farmer's house just southwest of the church, with a fine Swithland slate roof.Remains of a stretch of the long-abandoned Charnwood Forest Canal can be seen alongside a footpath to the south of the village, running from Thringstone to an area known locally as 'The Snarrows'.The Storey Arms was a popular working class pub but now struggles to attract drinkers due to the clampdown on drink driving and the other pub the Royal Oak closed in 2000.

New Swannington is an area between Whitwick and Swannington in the North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England. Buildings of note are an off-licence, the New Swannington Primary School and a Wesleyan Reform Church built in 1906. The church contains a tablet, dedicated to the memory of a workman who fell from the roof and died during its construction. The New Swannington fellowship is believed to have been formed as a break-away congregation from the Wesleyan Reform Church in Whitwick, which still stands (now used for industrial purposes, currently occupied by 'Gracedieu Windows') on North Street, Whitwick, a short distance from The Dumps cross-roads, to the rear of the former Stinson's Butchers Shop.

Grace Dieu and High Sharpley is an 86 hectare biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Coalville and Shepshed in Leicestershire. Grace Dieu Quarry is a Geological Conservation Review site.This site is composed of several fragments of the formerly extensive Charnwood Forest, and it has diverse habitats of heath, woodland, rock, scrub and acid grassland. Grace Dieu Quarry exhibits a thin marine Lower Carboniferous layer of Carboniferous Limestone, close to the Midland shoreline around 340 million years ago.Roads and footpaths go through some areas of the site.

Whitwick railway station served the village of Whitwick, Leicestershire, England. It was built by the Charnwood Forest Company, serving the Charnwood Forest Railway, and was officially opened with the rest of the completed line on 16 April 1883. Following the closure of passenger traffic (aside from a few specials and other organised events) in 1931, the station building became a blacksmiths. Following total line closure in 1963, the history of the building is more difficult to chart. However, it is apparent that the waiting rooms and other facilities on platform level were demolished. In the mid-1970s the Whitwick Historical Group was created, with the old station building becoming their home.The building is situated close to the village's Market Place, which is essentially the centre of the village, on North Street. The trackbed between Coalville (starting at Morrisons) and Whitwick (terminating just past Whitwick Station) has been turned into a public right of way. This passes the station building and the remains of the platform which is intact, but overgrown and unkempt. The original staircase which gave passengers access from the road above to the platform was kept in use until the 1990s, however following persistent vandalism and worries over the structure's safety, it was demolished, leaving only the landing at the road entrance.

Grace-Dieu () is a placename situated in Leicestershire, England. Its toponymy, meaning "Grace (of) God" in French, is from nearby Grace Dieu Priory, which was established in the 13th century but was left in disrepair after the Dissolution of the Monasteries by King Henry VIII. The priory ruins are visible from the main road to Loughborough. Grace Dieu Manor, located in close proximity to Thringstone, was initially a private residence and later served as a preparatory school, known as Grace Dieu Manor School. At present, the population is recorded in the civil parish of Belton. Gracedieu Vineyard is situated in Charnwood Forest, facing south. It was established in 1991 and has gained a reputation for producing high-quality wine, particularly its "Green Man" wine, which is made from the Madeleine Angevine grape and is noted for its fragrant floral aroma.

Whitwick is a village and civil parish in the North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England, close to the town of Coalville in the northwest of the county. It lies in an ancient parish which formerly included the equally historic villages of Thringstone and Swannington. It was an important manor in the Middle Ages, which once included Bardon and Markfield, parts of Hugglescote, Donington le Heath, Ratby, Bocheston, Newtown Unthank and Whittington. As early as 1293, Whitwick had a weekly market and a four-day fair. The population of Whitwick, according to the 2001 census was 10,815 persons. 8,092 of these fell into the 16–74 working age range, although only 4,689 were employed. The population of the village at the 2011 census had fallen to 8,612.
