Stephenson Campus, one of the three campuses of the SMB College Group, is located at Thornborough Way, Coalville, Leicestershire, England. It was created as a new build when the former college in Bridge Road, Coalville, closed in 2005.This campus is known for its Technical and Trade aspects including construction courses and facilities. In 2022, the Stephenson Campus was awarded Construction Apprenticeship Provider of the Year for its partnership with Barratt Developments.Part of the campus is used by the Stephenson Studio School, however the school is due to close in 2024.

Nature Alive is a 5.7 hectares (14 acres) Local Nature Reserve in northern outskirts of Coalville in Leicestershire. It is owned and managed by North West Leicestershire District Council.This site was formerly a coal stocking yard for Snibston Colliery, and it now has diverse habitats such as woodland, ponds, a wildflower meadow, rough pasture and hedges. The fauna existing there include water voles and great crested newts.The reserve can be accessed from Stephenson Way and Brunel Way.

Swannington is a former mining village situated between Coalville and Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, England. A document of 1520 mentions five pits at Swannington. It was a terminus of the early (1832) Leicester and Swannington Railway that was built to serve the townships of Swannington and Thringstone and is built on a spot reputedly chosen by William Wordsworth, a frequent guest of Sir George Beaumont (the 8th Baronet, 1799–1845) of nearby Coleorton Hall. It is possible that the dedication of the church to Saint George is derived from its association with this George Beaumont. A windmill in Swannington called Hough Mill was built near a nature reserve established on the remains of Califat colliery (a 19th-century mine). It has been claimed as the birthplace of Robin Hood.Administratively, Swannington is a civil parish forming part of the district of North West Leicestershire in Coalville. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 1,270. Nearby villages and hamlets include Whitwick, Coleorton, Thringstone, Ravenstone, Gelsmoor, Peggs Green and Sinope.

Coalville TMD was a traction maintenance depot located in Coalville, Leicestershire, England. The depot was situated on the Leicester to Burton upon Trent Line and was near the now closed Coalville Town station.

Thringstone Halt railway station was a station on the Charnwood Forest Railway. Near the village of Thringstone, Leicestershire at 52.7503354N 1.3638816E. On the outskirts of Whitwick. Opened in 1907 as a stop on the line between Loughborough Derby Road and Coalville East. The station closed in 1931 when passenger services on the line with withdrawn. Today, the cutting and halt have been filled in but the bridge carrying a minor road over the halt is still visible.

Snibston is an area and former civil parish east of Ravenstone, now in the parish of Ravenstone with Snibstone, in the North West Leicestershire district, in the county of Leicestershire, England. Originally rural, part of Snibston was transformed into a coal mining village by the opening of coal mines by the Snibston Colliery Company in the early 1830s. This industrial part of Snibston was subsequently subsumed into the developing town of Coalville, though small rural areas of Snibston survive within the civil parishes of Ravenstone with Snibston and Hugglescote and Donington le Heath. In the part of Snibston within the latter civil parish stands the 13th-century church of St Mary, noted as the smallest church still in use for regular worship in England. The main Snibston Colliery was sunk in 1831, and after its closure the Snibston Country Park with the Snibston Discovery Museum (now closed) was built on part of the colliery site. Part of the park is Snibston Grange Local Nature Reserve.

Coalville Town was a railway station at Coalville in Leicestershire on the Leicester to Burton upon Trent Line. Passenger business was carried out at the "Railway Hotel" when the line opened in 1833 until the first Coalville station was opened by the Midland Railway in 1848, replaced in 1894 and closed in 1964, although the line remains in use for freight.

Snibston Colliery Ground was a cricket ground in Coalville, Leicestershire. The land for the cricket ground was originally set aside for the miners at Snibston Colliery. Snibston Colliery was used as an outground by Leicestershire following the Second World War, with the county first playing there against Glamorgan in 1957 County Championship. Leicestershire player there intermittently until 1982, playing eight first-class matches there, plus a single List A one-day match against Glamorgan in the 1970 John Player League. The loss of first-class cricket at Snibston Colliery coincided with a downturn in fortune of the colliery. Snibston Grange Cricket Club continued to play at and maintain the ground, with Coalville Town F.C. moving to part of the ground in 1995 and establishing their Owen Street Sports Ground there. The cricket club folded in 2013, leaving Coalville Town F.C. as the sole tenant of the site.

The Emporium is a club located in Coalville, Leicestershire established under that name in 1995. Passion was launched in 1995 by the then club owners Mark Walsh and Eric Schofield, when the club was known as Crystals. Chris Hall, a London promoter who had helped set up Club UK, suggested changing the name to the Emporium and starting a dance night called ‘Passion’: he booked Todd Terry to headline the first ever event. JFK played the first ever record at Passion: the night ran from 9pm-2am, initially in one room, with a sound system being hired as the club's own system could not take the music. Around 700 people turned up on the first night and Passion was born. In 2004, JFK, who had been resident DJ, gave up his residency to further his DJ career elsewhere, although he continued to DJ there. In 2006 he returned after almost 2 years away from the club, becoming involved with the promotion and running of the club once again.In January 2012 Passion ran a classics night playing trance music, which was almost a sell out. The DJ line up was made up of names from past and present that have played a part in its history: A mixture of old and new residents along with cutting edge new talent. Room 2 saw the return of Red Room Sessions and its famous residents Nick Correlli (MYNC Project) and DJ Canete. The club closed in 2013, but re-opened in 2017

Coalville is a town in the district of North West Leicestershire, Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England. In 2011, it had a population of 34,575. It lies on the A511 between Leicester and Burton upon Trent, close to junction 22 of the M1 motorway where the A511 meets the A50 between Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Leicester. It borders the upland area of Charnwood Forest to the east of the town. Coalville is twinned with Romans-sur-Isère in southeastern France.

Ingles Football Club is a football club based in Shepshed, Leicestershire, England. They are currently members of the Midland League Division One and play at Thringstone Miners Social Centre.

The Califat Coal Mine began in 1852, when William Worswick signed a lease with Wyggeston Hospital, Leicester. The Coleorton No 2 Colliery was then sunk. It was named after the town of Calafat, now in Romania, then in the Ottoman Empire, which was under siege by Russian forces. The site has been subject to various excavations and restorations since the 1960s.
