Dalí Paris

The Dalí Universe is a collection of Salvador Dalí artworks consisting mainly of sculptures, curated by Beniamino Levi, Italian gallerist and collector. Opened in 2000 in London, in 2010 the Dalí Universe has permanently relocated to the Espace Dalí in Paris, France. Part of the collection, however, is sometimes exhibited at international locations. The exhibition includes mainly bronze sculptures, drawings, lithographs and glass and gold sculptures. The last international exhibitions were held in Beijing, China, in 2018, and in Liège, Belgium, in 2016. Previous locations have also included Singapore, Taipei, Shanghai, New York City, Florence and Venice.

La Mère Catherine is a brasserie in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, France. It is the oldest restaurant located at place du Tertre. It is situated in a building that previously served as the church presbytery of Saint-Pierre de Montmartre.

The Place du Tertre is a square in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, France. Only a few streets away from Montmartre's Basilica of the Sacré Cœur and the Lapin Agile, it is near the summit of the city's elevated Montmartre quarter. Place du Tertre was the heart of the prestigious Benedictine Montmartre Abbey, established in 1133 by King Louis VI. Montmartre Abbey thrived through the centuries and until the French revolution under the patronage of the Kings of France. Place du Tertre was opened to the public in 1635 as Montmartre village central square. From the end of the 18th century until World War One, the whole Montmartre Boheme could be seen here: painters, songwriters and poets.With its many artists setting up their easels each day for the tourists, the Place du Tertre is a reminder of the time when Montmartre was the mecca of modern art. At the beginning of the 20th century, many painters including Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani, and Maurice Utrillo were living there, some at the nearby Le Bateau-Lavoir. The Musée de Montmartre, the former home and studio of Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Suzanne Valadon, and the L'Espace Salvador Dalí, a museum principally dedicated to the sculpture and drawings of Salvador Dalí, can be found near Place du Tertre.

The Berthe bombing was a bomb attack carried out in Paris on the night of 5–6 July 1887, by anarchists targeting the shop of a landlord at 46 Berthe street. The explosion destroyed the shop's storefront around three in the morning, caused a panic among the few passers-by on the street, and resulted in no casualties. It was likely an act of vengeance aimed at a landlord who was in conflict with various Italian anarchists. Although the precise perpetrators of the bombing were never found, the fact that the target, Viguier, had had run-ins a few months earlier with three Italian anarchists among his tenants—one of whom had been convicted just days prior for assault and battery against Viguier—led authorities to suspect the three Italian anarchists: Figeri, Pogni, and Paolo Chiericotti. The police discovered traces of gunpowder at their homes, but lacked sufficient evidence to implicate them, and they were released. Later, authorities began to suspect Vittorio Pini, who was close to Chiericotti and a member of the group the Intransigents of London and Paris. He left French territory in October 1887 and took refuge in Belgium. One of Pini's associates, Placide Schouppe, became the main suspect for the anarchist bombing campaign of 1888–1889 the following year, a campaign that also targeted the storefronts of buildings in the middle of the night.

Montmartre (UK: mon-MAR-trə, US: mohn-, French: [mɔ̃maʁtʁ] (listen)) is a large hill in Paris's 18th arrondissement. It is 130 m (430 ft) high and gives its name to the surrounding district, part of the Right Bank in the northern section of the city. The historic district established by the City of Paris in 1995 is bordered by rue Caulaincourt and rue Custine on the north, rue de Clignancourt on the east, and boulevard de Clichy and boulevard de Rochechouart to the south, containing 60 ha (150 acres). Montmartre is primarily known for its artistic history, the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur on its summit, and as a nightclub district. The other church on the hill, Saint Pierre de Montmartre, built in 1147, was the church of the prestigious Montmartre Abbey. On August 15, 1534, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, Saint Francis Xavier and five other companions bound themselves by vows in the Martyrium of Saint Denis, 11 rue Yvonne Le Tac, the first step in the creation of the Jesuits.Near the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the twentieth, during the Belle Époque, many artists lived, worked, or had studios in or around Montmartre, including Amedeo Modigliani, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Suzanne Valadon, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, Camille Pissarro, and Vincent van Gogh. Montmartre is also the setting for several hit films. This site is served by metro, with line 2 stations at Anvers, Pigalle, and Blanche, line 4 stations at Château Rouge, and Barbès-Rochechouart, and line 12 stations at Pigalle, Abbesses, Lamarck – Caulaincourt, and Jules Joffrin.

The Musée de Montmartre is located in Montmartre, at 8-14 rue Cortot in the 18th (XVIII) arrondissement of Paris, France. It was founded in 1960 and was classified as a Musée de France in 2003. The buildings were formerly the home of several famous artists, including Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Suzanne Valadon.

Montmartre Abbey (French: Abbaye de Montmartre) was a 12th-century Benedictine monastery established in the Montmartre district of Paris within the Diocese of Paris. In 1133, King Louis VI purchased the Merovingian church of Saint Peter of Montmartre in order to establish the abbey and in the process to rebuild the church. The restored church was consecrated by Pope Eugenius III in 1147, in a splendid royal ceremony during which Bernard of Clairvaux and Peter, Abbot of Cluny, acted as acolytes.The abbey was suppressed in 1790, sold in 1794 and demolished during the French Revolution, but its church, Saint-Pierre de Montmartre, survived as the parish church of Montmartre, the oldest church in Paris, now all that remains of the abbey except for a vineyard.

The Place Jean-Marais is a square in Paris' 18th arrondissement of Paris, in the front of Saint-Pierre de Montmartre Church, not afar from the Place du Tertre, on the top of Montmartre. It was named for the famous actor Jean Marais on 26 April 2008. It was inaugurated in the presence of Daniel Vaillant, mayor of the 18th arrondissement of Paris, Christophe Caresche, and Michou.

The Bateau-Lavoir ("Washhouse Boat") is the nickname of a building in the Montmartre district of the 18th arrondissement of Paris that is famous in art history as the residence and meeting place for a group of outstanding early 20th-century artists, men of letters, theatre people, and art dealers. It is located at No. 13 Rue Ravignan at Place Emile Goudeau, just below the Place du Tertre. A fire destroyed most of the building in May 1970 and only the façade remained, but it was completely rebuilt in 1978.

Abbesses (French pronunciation: ​[abɛs], literally Abbesses) is a station on Paris Métro Line 12, in the Montmartre district and the 18th arrondissement. Abbesses is the deepest station in the Paris Métro, at 36 metres (118 feet) below ground, and is located on the western side of the butte (hill) of Montmartre. Access to the platforms is occasionally by elevators, but they are typically accessed by decorated stairs.

Lapin Agile is a famous Montmartre cabaret, at 22 Rue des Saules, 18th arrondissement of Paris, France.

R-26 (alt. English: R-Two-Six or French: R-vingt-six) was an artistic salon regularly held at the private residence of socialites Madeleine, Marie-Jacques and Robert Perrier at 26 Rue Norvins in the Montmartre district of Paris. First convened on 1 January 1930, the salon became a meeting ground for many creative luminaries of the next eighty years, including singer Josephine Baker, architect Le Corbusier and musician Django Reinhardt.
