Dortmund-Derne station

Dortmund-Kirchderne station is a railway station in the Kirchderne district of the town of Dortmund, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Dortmund-Scharnhorst station is located between the Dortmund suburbs of Alt-Scharnhorst and Brackel in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the Dortmund–Hamm line on Flughafenstraße.

The Westfalenhütte is an industrial site in the northeast of Dortmund, Germany. It was established by the steel company Hoesch AG in 1871. At the peak of the so-called Wirtschaftswunder approximately 25,000 people were working there. Following changes in the steel industry and a consolidation process in the sector, activities on the Westfalenhütte were reduced to a few, economically sustainable core areas. Today more than 1,000 people are working on the site of the Westfalenhütte. The Westfalenhütte stretches over approximately five kilometers from east to west, and nearly four kilometers from north to south. The territory is now owned by the ThyssenKrupp AG and is the largest abandoned industrial area in Europe. Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev visited the Westfalenhütte in 1989 and spoke in front of 8,500 steel workers. The Westfalenhütte had its own railway station, called Dortmund-Hoesch, which was in use until 1992. A light rail station from the U44 line is still called Westfalenhütte. The Hoeschpark, a recreational area for industrial workers of the Hoesch AG, was established in 1937 on the site of the Weisse Wiese, the first home stadium of football club Borussia Dortmund.

Lünen Hauptbahnhof is a railway station located north of central Lünen on the outskirts of Nordlünen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Lünen is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located north of Dortmund, on both banks of the River Lippe. It is the largest town of the Unna district and part of the Ruhr Area. In 2009 a biogas plant was built to provide electric power to the city. Lünen is the first city in the world to receive electricity via public utility companies that is generated on the base of animal waste. The plant produces up to 6.6 MW, supplying 26,000 homes with heat and electricity.

Dortmund Knappschaftskrankenhaus is a railway station in the Dortmund district of Brackel in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia near the Knappschaftskrankenhaus (literally "miners' hospital"). It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station. It was opened on 26 May 1963 on the Welver–Sterkrade railway completed between Welver and the old Dortmund Süd (south) station by the Royal Westphalian Railway Company on 15 May 1876 and electrified on 25 May 1984.It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 4 at 30-minute intervals (15-minute intervals in the peak between Dortmund-Lütgendortmund and Unna-Königsborn).

Dortmund-Brackel is a railway station in the Dortmund district of Brackel in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. It was opened on 15 May 1976 on the Welver–Sterkrade railway completed between Welver and the old Dortmund Süd (south) station by the Royal Westphalian Railway Company on the same date and electrified on 25 May 1984. A station building was built in 1895, but it was demolished in 1985.It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 4 at 30-minute intervals (15-minute intervals in the peak between Dortmund-Lütgendortmund and Unna-Königsborn).The station is also served by two bus routes, 420 (Scharnhorst – Derne + Aplerbeck, every 20 minutes) and 422 (Aplerbeck – Schüren + Wambel – Körne, every 30 minutes) operated by the municipal bus company, Dortmunder Stadtwerke (DSW21).

Weiße Wiese (The White Field), also known as Borussia Sportpark, was the first home stadium of Borussia Dortmund. It was located at Wambeler street near the Borsigplatz and factory of Hoesch AG in northern Dortmund.

Borsigplatz is a borough (officially a statistical district) in the urban district ("Stadtbezirk") Innenstadt-Nord in Dortmund, Germany. It lies in the northern part of the city center, just outside the former city wall. It has a population of 11,141 (December 2012).The eponymous square, which gives the borough its name, is famous for being the birthplace of football club Borussia Dortmund. The club was founded in 1909 by members of a catholic youth group in a bar situated right at the square.As the rest of Dortmund's northern city center, the borough has suffered from the fall of the coal and steel industry. The unemployment rate is high, since this part of the city was traditionally inhabited by industrial workers. 67.9 percent of the inhabitants have a migration background, which is the second highest number of the 62 statistical districts in Dortmund (after Nordmarkt).

Lünen Power Station was a coal-fired power station in Germany. It was located in Lünen, in the district Unna. It had an output capacity of 500 megawatts. The first power station in Lünen was commissioned in 1938. The power station produced traction current since 1984 also. The power station also produced long-distance heating since late 2003. Annual coal consumption amounted to 960,000 tons. The operator of the power station was Evonik Industries. The power station's chimney was 250 metres (820 ft) high. It was decommissioned in 2018 and, in 2019, the dismantlement process started. In 2021, the cooling tower, the chimney, the boiler house were demolished.
