Drakelow, Worcestershire

Drakelow Tunnels are a former underground military complex beneath the Blakeshall Estate north of Kidderminster, Worcestershire, covering 285,000 sq ft (26,500 m2), with a total length of around 3.5 miles (5.6 km). They were originally built as a Second World War shadow factory, and were developed during the Cold War to be a fall-back government centre.

Drakelow Hillfort, is a small multivallate Iron Age hillfort, located on a promontory (known as Drakelow Hill) at Drakelow at the southern end of Kinver Edge, in the civil parish of Wolverley and Cookley, Worcestershire. The hillfort is a scheduled monument.

Castle Hill or Baron Hill is about a mile from the hamlet of Kingsford in the civil parish of Wolverley and Cookley, Worcestershire. In 1912 the site consisted of "a small ruinous timber-framed building, used as a cowshed, mainly of 15th century date but bearing traces of earlier features. On the hillside itself is a segment of a moat encircling a third of the hill and the embankments of three communicating fishponds covering about 4 acres. The two lower ponds still contain water while the upper is used as an orchard". In 1913 it was thought to be the ruins of a castle, a possibility which David Cathcart-King mentions in his 1983 work Castellarium anglicanum.After surveying the site, Duignan (publishing in 1912) suggested that it was the remains of a late 12th century hunting lodge, but Brown, Colvin and Taylor publishing in 1963 showed that Duigan was mistaken, and the royal hunting lodge to which he referred—one in the Forest of Kinver (recorded in documents of 1195–96)—was located at Stourton Castle. However, there was another earlier royal hunting lodge at Kinver, (recorded in 1184–85) the site of which is unknown and which could have been at Castle Hill.Inspectors from English Heritage visited the site in 1997 and although the site is very ruinous confirmed its importance and "regarded as having a high archaeological potential".

Habberley was one of the hamlets of the ancient parish of Kidderminster in the county of Worcestershire, England. It is now divided so that part of it is an area of the town of Kidderminster (to the northwest of the town centre) and part of it (including High Habberley and Low Habberley) is within the civil parish of Kidderminster Foreign.

Wolverley CofE Secondary School is located in the village of Wolverley, near Kidderminster in Worcestershire, England. The mixed gender school has approximately 670 students on roll (2014) and opened in 2007 following the closure of its predecessor, Wolverley High School, as part of the local area reorganisation from three-tier education. At the same time, the school became a controlled Church of England school.The school accepts students aged 11 to 18, and offers courses at GCSE and A-Level. The February 2014 Ofsted inspection results, published in March 2014, reported the school as being 'a school that requires improvement'. A later inspection in June 2016 rated the school as ‘Good’.

Trimpley (grid reference SO793784) is a hamlet in the parish of Kidderminster Foreign. It lies on the ridge of Shatterford Hill, north of Wribbenhall and east of Habberley. The village (such as it is) lies along Trimpley Green, a small common. At the northern end of Trimpley is the ancient wooded area of Eymore Wood, now bounded on its west by the Severn Valley Railway, beyond which lies Trimpley Reservoir. South of Trimpley Green lies Wassell Wood (now owned by the Woodland Trust). This wooded hill is surmounted by an earthwork enclosure of unknown date. The name "Wassell" is derived from the Anglo-Saxon "Weardsetl" meaning a watchplace. This was the westernmost of a chain of such watchplaces, also including Wassell Grove (near Wychbury Hill), Waseley Hills and Wast Hills in Alvechurch.Hoarstone Lane and Trimpley Lane, through the hamlet are probably part of the Micclan strete (great made-road), mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon bounds of Wolverley. This may have been part of an ancient road from Gloucester and Worcester to Chester.In 1357 John Atte Wode, an usher of the king's chamber, obtained a licence to maintain a priest at Trimpley. The medieval chapel, founded by endowment as a chantry chapel, was dissolved at the Reformation. The present Trimpley Church was built in 1844 in a Norman-style as a chapel of ease.

Baxter College is a mixed secondary school with academy status located in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England. Prior to September 2002 the school was known as Harry Cheshire High School. The school provides education for pupils aged 11 to 18 years, and offers a wide range of courses at GCSE and A-Level.

Shatterford is a village in the Wyre Forest District of Worcestershire, England, located north-west of Bewdley and lies less than a mile from the county border with Shropshire. The Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre provides secondary education for pupils from the area. The village hall always has local events taking place, from charity fundraising to the Shatterford show. Robert Plant, the lead singer and frontman of rock band Led Zeppelin, lives nearby.
