Located in the south-western suburbs of Melbourne, it includes the south-western hub of Werribee as well as the suburbs of Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina, Wyndham Vale and part of Point Cook. At 9.0%, Lalor has the nation's highest proportion of children aged under 4 years old. It has the nation's lowest proportion of residents aged 65 and over (7.0%), is sixth highest nationally for families being couples with dependent children (44.4%), and has the sixth highest rate of residents purchasing their own homes (49.3%).

Mount Cottrell is a town in Victoria, Australia, 31 km (19 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Melton and Wyndham local government areas. Mount Cottrell recorded a population of 496 at the 2021 census.It is named after Anthony Cottrell, a member of the Port Phillip association who was allotted the land by the company in about 1835–36. The original "No.10" hut was located about 1.5 km north of the Mount Cottrell summit.The town of Mount Cottrell consists of mainly privately owned open land. The town is named after the 200m high mountain it encompasses, Mount Cottrell, the most massive of the Werribee Plains volcanoes, a volcanic cone formed by the radial eruption of numerous lava tongues. The mountain was purchased by Melton Council in 2007 to preserve the significant geological and flora and fauna values on the site. Mount Cottrell Post Office opened on 1 January 1866, closed in 1895, reopened in 1902 and closed again in 1958.

The Mount Cottrell massacre involved the murder of an estimated 10 Wathaurong people near Mount Cottrell in the colony of Victoria in 1836, in retaliation for the killing of two European settlers.

Wyndham Vale railway station is located on the Deer Park–West Werribee line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburbs of Wyndham Vale and Manor Lakes, and opened on 14 June 2015.Built as part of the Regional Rail Link project, it was officially opened by Premier Daniel Andrews and the federal Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss, with services commencing on 21 June 2015.A turnback siding is located between the two running lines just to the south of the station, used for peak hour terminating services from Melbourne. A stabling yard has also been built to the north of the station. Construction began in mid-2018, and the sidings were opened in April 2020.Under the Western Rail Plan, announced by the Andrews State Government in 2018, the station will eventually become part of the metropolitan railway network.

Toolern Creek is a small tributary of the Werribee River in Victoria. The creek rises near Toolern Vale and flows through the Melbourne suburbs of Melton and Melton South, separating the industrial and residential areas of these suburbs. The creek forms a confluence with the Werribee River at Exford immediately downstream from the Melton Reservoir. A community group called Friends of Toolern Creek has been formed to preserve and restore the environment of the creek. The group holds an annual festival, the Toolern Creek Platypus Festival, to celebrate the platypus in the local waterways.Residents in the Melton area can make use of the nearby Toolern Creek Trail.

Exford is a town in Victoria, Australia, 39 km (24 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Melton local government area. Exford recorded a population of 133 at the 2021 census.The town is located on the west and south bank of the Melton Reservoir, which was completed in 1916 to supply the Werribee Irrigation District, and also functions as a recreation site with barbecue and picnic facilities. Exford Post Office opened on 1 September 1911 and closed in 1964.Exford is home to the Melbourne Runabout and Speedboat Club. A primary school with 200 students is also based in Exford. On Tuesday May 16 2023, a bus carrying 46 children from the school was involved in an accident with a truck at a nearby intersection with 18 children rushed to hospital.

Manor Lakes is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 33 km (21 mi) south-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Wyndham local government area. Manor Lakes recorded a population of 12,675 in the 2021 census.The suburb was part of Wyndham Vale until April 2016, when it was officially gazetted as its own suburb.
