Lake Norman State Park, formerly Duke Power State Park, is a 1,942-acre (7.86 km2) North Carolina state park near Troutman, Iredell County, North Carolina in the United States. The park is on the northern shore of Lake Norman at the mouth of Hicks Creek. The park is open for year-round recreation including, boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming and camping. Lake Norman State Park is on Inland Sea Road in Troutman just off U.S. Route 70 between Interstates 40 and 77.

South Iredell High School is a public school located near Troutman, North Carolina and is part of the Iredell-Statesville school system. South Iredell High is designated an Expected Growth School of Distinction by the North Carolina ABCs Accountability program. It educates students from surrounding areas including Troutman and south Statesville, North Carolina. The school was constructed in 1966 to replace Troutman High School. The school's enrollment was about 800 students in the 2005–2006 school year. Attendance was double that figure before 2002, when Lake Norman High School was created to alleviate South Iredell's overcrowding. In 2018 the school's enrollment had grown to just under 1600 students. The school has options for both traditional schooling and an IB (International Baccalaureate) Program. The school's mascot is the Viking and the school colors are navy blue and gold.

Due to substantial residential growth in the area, as well as neighborhood annexation, the town is experiencing dramatic population growth. Barium Springs has a post office, with ZIP code 28010.Native Americans named the area Poison Springs, which later became the name of the community's first post office. After a mineral spa opened there in the 1880s, the community changed its name to emphasize the medicinal properties of the barium and other minerals in its waters.Barium Springs is the site of the Barium Springs Home for Children, a home for disadvantaged and troubled children.

Neill–Turner–Lester House, also known as Five Oaks and the Neill-Lester House, is a historic home located near Sherrills Ford, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built about 1820, and is a two-story, frame dwelling. It was remodeled and enlarged in 1889 in the Italianate style. The interior retains Federal style design elements from its original construction.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

It is a 1+1⁄2-story, two bay by two bay, log dwelling sheathed in weatherboard. It has a hall and parlor plan, front shed porch, rear shed rooms and porch, and a single should brick chimney. Also on the property is a contributing two-story three-bay wide, half-dovetail log barn.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
