Glendale Historic District (Glendale, Kentucky)

Glendale is an unincorporated community in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. It is included in the Elizabethtown, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Chestnut Grove, in Hardin County, Kentucky near Glendale, Kentucky, was built in 1876. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is a two-story, brick Italianate house, with brick laid in common bond, built upon a brick foundation. Its front facade has four bays and a one-story porch with milled posts and dentils. The south facade has another one-story porch with a shed roof, milled posts, and vergeboard decoration. It has a two-story rear wing.The interior includes original cast iron mantles and an Italianate-style staircase.It is located off Kentucky Route 222 about 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Glendale.

Central Hardin High School is a school located in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, United States. Although the school is within the city limits, it is served by the post office of the community of Cecilia, much of which has recently been annexed by Elizabethtown. It is one of three county high schools in the Hardin County School System. The school is a school-based decision-making school. The council of twelve members including two administrators, six teachers, and four parents began operation in December 1995.

The Historic First Presbyterian Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was a historic church at 212 W. Dixie Avenue. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is a one-story brick church built in 1835 with Federal-style details. It was significantly modified in 1896, adding Romanesque style elements, including a bell tower. A two-story brick addition was added in 1943 and 1962.The church moved to its current location at 1016 Pear Orchard Rd. in Elizabethtown in the early 1990s. The building at 212 W. Dixie Avenue is currently occupied by the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame.

Sonora is a home rule-class city in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 565 as of the 2020 Census, up from 513 from the 2010 census,. It is included in the Elizabethtown, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Cecilia is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. It is located 6 miles (10 km) west of Elizabethtown, the county seat. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 575, stagnant from the 2010 census population of 572.The town was formerly called "Cecilian Junction" because of its location at the junction of the Illinois Central Railroad's Louisville-Paducah main line and its branch to Hodgenville. (The line now belongs to the Paducah and Louisville Railway, and the branch is now truncated to Elizabethtown.) The community is part of the Elizabethtown–Fort Knox Metropolitan Statistical Area, and a significant part of the area served by the Cecilia post office is now within the Elizabethtown city limits. Kentucky Route 86 runs through the town, ending just south of the town at an intersection with U.S. Route 62.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) is a public community college in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. It is part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS).

The William Tichenor House, near Upton, Kentucky, is a historic house built around 1820. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It was built as a two-story dogtrot-style double pen house. The breezeway was later enclosed (c.1910). A separate log kitchen was linked by a frame addition c.1900.It became the home of the William Tichenor family; William Tichenor was a shareholder in the 1896 formation of the Sonora Bank and he had a large farm south of Sonora.It was deemed notable "as a relatively unaltered example of a two-story dogtrot style home. It is one of the five most significant dogtrot log homes located in the county and retains its original plan."

The J. Roy Bond House, at 317 College St. in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is a historic Craftsman-style house built in 1914. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is a two-story frame and stucco house with a jerkinhead-roofed one-story front porch. It was designed by Louisville, Kentucky architect W. Earl Gore and was built by real estate developer J. Roy Bond. It was deemed "significant as the finest example of the Craftsman style in Elizabethtown. The house displays typical Craftsman detailing on the exterior such as exposed half-timbering and the use of stucco, stone and frame siding. The interior is also notable with exposed beams, Craftsman style light fixtures, window seats and decorative brick fireplaces."

The Benjamin Helm House is a two-story brick house in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, that was built in 1816 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It is significant as the home of Benjamin Helm, an early settler of Elizabethtown. He made the first survey of the town and later became a wealthy local businessman, dying in 1858. He was the uncle of Governor John L. Helm, and great uncle of Confederate general Benjamin Hardin Helm.The house was originally built in the Federal style. Two wings were removed and several additions added such that the house itself is no longer architecturally significant.

The Elizabethtown Courthouse Square and Commercial District, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is a 10 acres (4.0 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The listing included 38 contributing buildings.It includes the Hardin County Courthouse, built in 1933 in Georgian Revival style. The courthouse has a three-story brick central section with a slightly projecting entrance pavilion, which has a shallow portico. The courthouse replaced an 1873 courthouse which was damaged in 1932 by a fire.The district is located on Kentucky Route 61. It consists of the courthouse square and one block of West Dixie street west of the courthouse, containing the surviving historic core of the city. It consists of two- and three-story brick buildings, 38 out of 40 being deemed contributing.

The Embry Chapel Church, at 117 Mulberry St. in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was built in 1868 to serve the Second Presbyterian Church, and was sold in 1891 to an African Methodist Episcopal congregation which had formed in 1865. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is a one-story brick church built with Romanesque Revival style. It has a square bell tower rising from the center of its front facade, with the original arched entrance and brick corbels. Stained glass windows are recessed in brick bays separated by pilasters. There is a c.1970 one-story frame addition at the rear.
