Cecilia, Kentucky

Saint John is an unincorporated community in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. Saint John is located on Kentucky Route 1357, 5.6 miles (9.0 km) west of Elizabethtown.The community took its name from the nearby St. John the Baptist Catholic church.

Hardin County is part of the Elizabethtown-Fort Knox, KY Metropolitan Statistical Area, as well as the Louisville/Jefferson County—Elizabethtown-Bardstown, KY-IN Combined Statistical Area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 110,702.Hardin County is known for being the birthplace of former U.S. president Abraham Lincoln, though the location is now part of neighboring LaRue County.

Central Hardin High School is a school located in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, United States. Although the school is within the city limits, it is served by the post office of the community of Cecilia, much of which has recently been annexed by Elizabethtown. It is one of three county high schools in the Hardin County School System. The school is a school-based decision-making school. The council of twelve members including two administrators, six teachers, and four parents began operation in December 1995.

The Chestnut Grove, in Hardin County, Kentucky near Glendale, Kentucky, was built in 1876. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is a two-story, brick Italianate house, with brick laid in common bond, built upon a brick foundation. Its front facade has four bays and a one-story porch with milled posts and dentils. The south facade has another one-story porch with a shed roof, milled posts, and vergeboard decoration. It has a two-story rear wing.The interior includes original cast iron mantles and an Italianate-style staircase.It is located off Kentucky Route 222 about 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Glendale.

Founded by a group of eighteen people in June 1781, it was organized in Severns Valley (now Elizabethtown) and is Kentucky's oldest Baptist church. The Glendale Historic District in Glendale, Kentucky is a 21.5 acres (8.7 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It runs along Main St. between County Highway 1136 and Railroad Ave. It was "a notable collection of late 19th and early 20th century residential, and commercial architecture. The district is significant ... for its architectural character and ...for its role in the commercial history of the county. Few modern buildings have been constructed in the district in recent years and it retains its early 20th century appearance."It includes 34 contributing buildings. Among those are: Stuart Store (c.1905), a two-story frame commercial building with a false front rising to cover an attic Glendale Bank (1903), a two-story brick commercial building which is "unusually intact"

Rineyville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. It is located 7 miles (11 km) northwest of Elizabethtown. The population was 3,039 as of the 2020 Census. The Paducah and Louisville Railway runs north and south through the community. There is no formal city government; a Magistrate, elected to the Hardin County Fiscal Court, represents the unincorporated community. The primary law enforcement agency for Rineyville is the Kentucky State Police – Post 4 in Elizabethtown. The Rineyville Fire Department, created in 1979, consists of over 30 volunteers from the community. Some neighboring communities include Vine Grove to the north, Radcliff to the northeast, and Cecilia to the south. Rineyville is named for past resident Zachariah Riney, the first school teacher of young Abraham Lincoln.

The J. Roy Bond House, at 317 College St. in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is a historic Craftsman-style house built in 1914. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is a two-story frame and stucco house with a jerkinhead-roofed one-story front porch. It was designed by Louisville, Kentucky architect W. Earl Gore and was built by real estate developer J. Roy Bond. It was deemed "significant as the finest example of the Craftsman style in Elizabethtown. The house displays typical Craftsman detailing on the exterior such as exposed half-timbering and the use of stucco, stone and frame siding. The interior is also notable with exposed beams, Craftsman style light fixtures, window seats and decorative brick fireplaces."

Helm Place is a white-columned, brick mansion built by John LaRue Helm in the 1830s, about one and a half miles north of the center of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.In 1831, John LaRue Helm purchased the old homestead of his grandfather, Captain Thomas Helm, from his uncle Benjamin. The purchase included his father's home several miles outside of Elizabethtown. John then sold his father's home and some 500 acres to Reverend Charles J. Cecil and the Sisters of Loretto, who used the property to create a girls boarding school known as Bethlehem Academy.After that, John began construction of a new home called Helm Place on the site of Helm Station, a wooden stockade fort. Helm Station was one of three forts built by Thomas Helm in 1780s in the form of a triangle, each spaced one mile apart, to protect against Indian raids. The settlers built their homes in between the three forts, forming a small community that developed into Elizabethtown in the 1790s.

It is included in (and the principal city of) the Elizabethtown–Fort Knox, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Louisville/Jefferson County–Elizabethtown–Madison, Kentucky-Indiana Combined Statistical Area. The Elizabethtown Metropolitan area had a 2019 estimated population of 153,057, making it the 5th-largest metropolitan area in the state.
