The Cemetery of Saint-Louis, Versailles (French: Cimetière Saint-Louis de Versailles) is one of several cemeteries in Versailles, Yvelines. It is among the oldest urban cemeteries in France, having been established in 1770 by the parish of Saint-Louis, Versailles, the church of which is now Versailles Cathedral. Although it may house fewer graves of well-known persons than the Cemetery of Notre-Dame, Versailles, it is nevertheless of significant interest for the artistic quality of many of the tombs and for the quantity of graves of aristocratic families and military officers based at the nearby Palace of Versailles. A small column against the wall marks the site of the common ditch where some 40 persons were buried, victims of the September Massacres on 9 September 1792. The massacre itself took place at the Quatre Bornes ("Four Milestones"), at the present crossroads between the Rue de Satory and the Rue d'Orléans. The victims had been transferred from the prison at Orléans, and were mostly former senior government officials, officers of the Royal army or refractory priests (among them the Bishop of Mende). Certain monuments are distinguished by their unusual workmanship, for example that of the naval lieutenant Édouard Villaret-Joyeuse (died in 1854 at Havana), which is in the form of a rostral column.

The Potager du roi (Kitchen Garden of the King), near the Palace of Versailles, produced fresh vegetables and fruits for the table of the court of Louis XIV. It was created between 1678 and 1683 by Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie, the director of the royal fruit and vegetable gardens. Today it is run by the École nationale supérieure du paysage, the grande école for landscape architects. It is officially recognized as a Remarkable Garden of France.

Le Stand de Tir de Versailles (English: Versailles Shooting Stand) is a firing range located in Versailles, France in the Le Parc des Sports de Versailles (English: Versailles Sports Park). For the 1924 Summer Olympics in neighboring Paris, it hosted all of the sport shooting events except trap shooting which took place at Issy-les-Moulineaux, and the shooting portion of the modern pentathlon.

The Salles des Croisades ("Hall of Crusades") is a set of rooms located in the north wing of the Palace of Versailles. The rooms were created in the mid-19th century by king Louis-Philippe for his museum of French history, and opened in 1843, at a time when France was seized with enthusiasm with its historical past, and especially the Crusades period. The rooms are filled with over 120 paintings related to the Crusades. King Louis-Philippe included the names of the thousands of family whose ancestors went to the Crusades, encouraging many forgeries at that time.

Versailles Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Louis de Versailles) is a Roman Catholic church located in Versailles, France. It is a national monument. It is the seat of the Bishop of Versailles, created as a constitutional bishopric in 1790 and confirmed by the Concordat of 1801. It was built as the parish church of Saint Louis before becoming the cathedral of the new diocese. The building is of the mid-18th century: the first stone was laid, by Louis XV, on 12 June 1743 and the church was consecrated on 24 August 1754. The architect was Jacques Hardouin-Mansart de Sagonne (1711-1778), a grandson of the famous architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. In 1764 Louis-François Trouard added the Chapelle de la Providence (now the Chapelle des Catéchismes) to the northern transept. During the French Revolution it was used as a Temple of Abundance, and badly defaced. It was chosen and used as the cathedral by the post-Revolutionary bishop, who preferred it to the church of Notre-Dame in Versailles, which had been the choice of the preceding constitutional bishop. Its consecration as a cathedral was however severely delayed, and was not performed until 1843, by the diocese's third bishop, Louis-Marie-Edmond Blanquart de Bailleul.

The Section Internationale Anglophone de Buc (SIAB) is a bilingual school in the town of Buc, department of Yvelines, France. It offers English and French education for students from about the age of 7 to 18. Established in 1998 as a joint project between the Lycée Franco-Allemand (LFA) and the Collège Martin Luther King (MLK) and granted official status as an International Section in 2006, the Section Internationale Anglophone de Buc is based on a wooded campus south-west of Paris and close to Versailles. Today, the program has expanded to 150 students. English classes span over the primary section from CE2 to CM2, the middle school (Fr. “collège”) with classes from 6ème to 3ème, and the high school (Fr. “lycée”) covering 2nde up to Terminale. The section is an integral part of the French state school system and is free of charge.

The Diocese of Versailles (Latin: Dioecesis Versaliensis; French: Diocèse de Versailles) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church, in France. The diocese, headed by the Bishop of Versailles, was established in 1801. Until then, its territory had mostly been part of the Archdiocese of Paris and the Diocese of Chartres. It was centred on Versailles.

The labyrinth of Versailles was a hedge maze in the Gardens of Versailles with groups of fountains and sculptures depicting Aesop's fables. [1] André Le Nôtre initially planned a maze of unadorned paths in 1665, but in 1669, Charles Perrault advised Louis XIV to include thirty-nine fountains, each representing one of the fables of Aesop. [2] The work was carried out between 1672 and 1677. Water jets spurting from the animals mouths were conceived to give the impression of speech between the creatures. There was a plaque with a caption and a quatrain written by the poet Isaac de Benserade next to each fountain. A detailed description of the labyrinth, its fables and sculptures is given in Perrault's Labyrinte de Versailles, illustrated with engravings by Sébastien Leclerc. In 1778 Louis XVI had the labyrinth removed and replaced by an arboretum of exotic trees planted as an English-styled garden.

The Hôtel de la Guerre (literally the 'Hotel of the War') also known as Carnot Barracks is the name of a building located at 3, Rue de l'Indépendance-Américaine in Versailles, built near the Palace of Versailles. The building was built in 1760 by Jean-Baptiste Berthier, father to the later famed Marshal Louis-Alexandre Berthier, to bring together the different war offices into one central location (until then, they had been dispersed in Paris, notably at the Bastille and Hôtel de Ville). The building was one of the first buildings built in France which was designed to be 'fire proof' and 'limited the risks of a fire'. The building currently houses the Central Directorate of the Defence Infrastructure Service, part of the French Army. The building's massive entrance was classified as a historical monument on 1 September 1922, followed by the façade on the street side and roof, classified on 16 September 1929.

DFG / LFA Buc (German: Deutsch-Französisches Gymnasium in Buc, French: Lycée Franco-Allemand de Buc) is a German-French international lycée/gymnasium located in Buc, Yvelines, France, in the Paris metropolitan area.It is one of the DFG / LFA schools established as a result of the 1963 Élysée Treaty between France and West Germany; the school opened in 1975 (1975).The LFA Buc is a UNESCO Associated School.
