Hutton Moor End

Trout Beck is a 7.6 miles (12.3 km) long stream or beck in the English Lake District, Cumbria. It rises on the northwestern slopes of Great Dodd, with tributaries including Groove Beck and Thornsgill Beck, and flows east then north to the hamlet of Troutbeck. It then flows west, parallel to and south of the A66 road, going just south of Hutton Moor End then under the old Hutton Moor Road at Wolt Bridge where it joins the River Glenderamackin. To the west of Troutbeck hamlet the beck is bridged by the former Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway.

Highgate Platform railway station served schoolchildren in the isolated area of Highgate between Keswick and Penrith, in the historical area of Cumberland, England, from 1908 to 1929 on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway.

The Mosedale Viaduct carried the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway over Mosedale Beck until its closure in 1972. Building work on the viaduct began in 1862, and the first test train crossed it in 1864. It is made of stone and has 12 arches, and is just over 140 yards (420 feet (130 m)) long. It was built single-track but was extended to the north in 1900 to accommodate two tracks. In 1997 British Rail Property Board agreed to defer plans to demolish the viaduct, in the light of proposals for the line to be reopened. It is featured in S1 Ep 4 of Walking Britain's Lost Railways.

Mosedale Beck is a river in Cumbria, England, which rises on the northern slopes of Great Dodd and flows north east, to the south of Clough Head before joining the River Glenderamackin to the east of Threlkeld village. This then flows west, alongside the A66 road south of Blencathra, to form the River Greta which flows into the River Derwent. Shortly before joining the Glendaramackin, Mosedale Beck is crossed by the Mosedale Viaduct of the former Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway, now a footpath.

Souther Fell is a fell in the English Lake District. It stands to the south of Mungrisdale village in the Northern Fells. It is most famous for the appearance of a "spectral army", said to have been seen marching along its crest on Midsummer's Day, 1745. No such force was in the District at the time.

Mungrisdale is a small village and civil parish in the north east of the English Lake District in the historic county of Cumberland but now in the ceremonial county of Cumbria. It is also the name of the valley in which the village sits. Mungrisdale is a popular starting point for ascents of the nearby hills, such as Bowscale Fell, Bannerdale Crags and Souther Fell. It lies on the River Glenderamackin, a tributary of the Greta. Mungrisdale has no local amenities except for the Grade II* listed St Kentigern's Church built in 1756, a village hall and a pub, the Mill Inn. The civil parish of Mungrisdale is made up of the hamlets of Berrier, Bowscale, Haltcliff Bridge, Heggle Lane, Hutton Roof, Mosedale, Mungrisdale and Murrah. The parish had a population of 284 in 2001, increasing to 297 at the 2011 Census. Part of the parish lies within the Skiddaw Group SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).

Troutbeck is a hamlet within Cumbria, England, a few miles to the west of Penrith. It was previously in the county of Cumberland. It lies within the Lake District, the civil parish of Hutton, and the unitary authority of Westmorland and Furness. Great Mell Fell is situated immediately to the east of Troutbeck. It is open-access land which belongs to the National Trust. There are five Roman temporary or marching camps just to the north of Troutbeck, adjoining the A66 Roman road. The place-name 'Troutbeck' is first attested in the Subsidy Rolls of 1332, where it appears as Troutbek. The name means 'trout stream'. The stream the Trout Beck heads towards it and then veers west where it joins the River Glenderamackin less than half a mile to the west of Hutton Moor End.

Troutbeck railway station was situated on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway between Penrith and Cockermouth in Cumberland (now in Cumbria), England. The station served the hamlet of Troutbeck. It opened to passenger traffic on 2 January 1865, and closed on 6 March 1972.

Bowscale is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Mungrisdale, in the Westmorland and Furness district, in the county of Cumbria, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 27. The sable tarn in Sir Walter Scott's poem The Bridal of Triermain was reportedly based on Bowscale Tarn.

Mosedale is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Mungrisdale in the Westmorland and Furness district, in the county of Cumbria, in the north west of the English Lake District. It is on the River Caldew, north east of Bowscale Fell and south east of Carrock Fell, about one mile north of Mungrisdale. In 1931 the parish had a population of 49. In the 2011 United Kingdom census the parish of Mungrisdale, comprising eight hamlets including Mosedale, had a population of 297. There is a Quaker meeting house in Mosedale, where meetings are held weekly in summer and fortnightly in winter. The meeting house was created in 1702 from an earlier building, was used for regular meetings until 1865, became an Anglican chapel of ease 1936–1970, and was restored for use by Quakers in 1973. It is one of the earliest meeting houses in Cumbria and is associated with George Fox, the founder of the Quakers.

Bannerdale Crags is a fell in the English Lake District. It stands between Blencathra and Bowscale Fell in the Northern Fells.

Bowscale Fell is a hill in the English Lake District. It rises above the village of Mungrisdale in the Northern Fells. Bowscale Fell stands at the extreme north east the Blencathra group, connected to this higher fell by the intervening Bannerdale Crags. In common with many fells the western slopes are smooth and convex while the eastern side exhibits crags.
