Gronau (German pronunciation: [ˈɡʁoːnaʊ] ; officially Gronau (Westf.), is a town in the district of Borken in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located near the border with the Netherlands, approx. 10 km east of Enschede. The city is divided into the districts of Gronau and Epe.

The station lies on the Dortmund–Enschede railway and Münster–Enschede railway and the train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn. The line between Enschede and Gronau was closed in 1981 and re-opened in 2001. To the west of the station are 3 sidings.

Glanerbeek is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and Overijssel, Netherlands. It flows into the Dinkel near Losser. As part of the Rhine basin, specifically the Deltarhine region it is managed under the Deltarhine regime; it has been found to be the only river that the regime has contributed to problem solving for, in regards to the issue of river restoration.

Losser (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɔsər] ) is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands. It is at the eastern end of the A1 motorway.

Epe is a village in the district of Borken in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located on the Dutch border, approx. 10 km east of Enschede. It has been part of the municipality of Gronau since 1975. Epe has a population of about 16,000 and is located on the Dinkel River.

Glanerbrug is a railway station close to the border of Germany in Glanerbrug, Netherlands. The station opened on 18 November 2001 and is on the Zutphen–Glanerbeek railway. Between the 1972 and 2001, the passenger service to Germany stopped as the line was closed. The line to Gronau was reopened in 2001. The station is operated by Prorail, but is served by Deutsche Bahn. The station was originally opened in 1865 as Glanerbeek and closed in 1972.

Glanerbrug [ɣlaːnər'brʏx] is a town in the east of the city of Enschede, Netherlands. It is close to the border, formed by the stream Glanerbeek, with Germany and the city of Gronau, North Rhine-Westphalia. The name of Glanerbrug is derived from the bridge over the Glanerbeek (brug in Dutch is bridge in English). On 7 April 1990 the Glanerbrug meteorite fell through the roof of a house there. Enschede de Eschmarke is a railway station in eastern Enschede, Netherlands. The station opened on 18 November 2001 and is on the Zutphen–Glanerbeek railway. The connection to Gronau was reopened in 2001. The station is operated by Deutsche Bahn. According to the 2005 RailPro survey in the Netherlands, this station is the least used station in the Netherlands, with an average of just 57 passengers per day.

De Lutte is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Losser. It is located close to the border between the Netherlands and Germany. De Lutte is connected to Germany (to the east) and Oldenzaal and Hengelo (to the west) by the A1 motorway. The Landhuishotel Bloemenbeek with its Michelin-starred restaurant De Bloemenbeek is located in the village.The Losser (De Lutte) Roman Catholic Churchyard contains the graves of five Second World War soldiers who served with the Royal Air Force. Three of the deceased soldiers served with the United Kingdom while the remaining two served with Australia. The graves are for sergeant Sydney Hennan, sergeant William Leonard Wykes, flight sergeant Conrad George Johnston, sergeant John Fisher Morgan and flight sergeant John Kevin Thompson.A river closeby is the Dinkel. The rural landscape around the village has some good examples of farms and barns in the style of the Low German house with timber framing and wooden gables.

Oldenzaal is a railway station located in the centre of Oldenzaal, Overijssel, Netherlands. The station was opened on 18 October 1865 and is located on the Almelo–Salzbergen railway. Train services are operated by Syntus. From December 2010-December 2013, Syntus operated a cross-border local train between Hengelo, Oldenzaal and Bad Bentheim with the name "Grensland Express". Service was suspended due to a lack of passengers. On 14 January 2018, this route was reinstated when Keolis Deutschland extended its service from Bad Bentheim to Hengelo.There was another station, close to the main Oldenzaal station, called Oldenzaal EO for train services to Boekelo (1890-1934). There was also a tram line to Denekamp (1903-1936).

Lonneker (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɔnəkər]) is a village in Twente, in the province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Enschede, about 3 km north of the city centre.
