Glanerbrug

Glanerbrug is a railway station close to the border of Germany in Glanerbrug, Netherlands. The station opened on 18 November 2001 and is on the Zutphen–Glanerbeek railway. Between the 1972 and 2001, the passenger service to Germany stopped as the line was closed. The line to Gronau was reopened in 2001. The station is operated by Prorail, but is served by Deutsche Bahn. The station was originally opened in 1865 as Glanerbeek and closed in 1972.

The connection to Gronau was reopened in 2001. The station is operated by Deutsche Bahn. According to the 2005 RailPro survey in the Netherlands, this station is the least used station in the Netherlands, with an average of just 57 passengers per day.

Glanerbeek is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and Overijssel, Netherlands. It flows into the Dinkel near Losser. As part of the Rhine basin, specifically the Deltarhine region it is managed under the Deltarhine regime; it has been found to be the only river that the regime has contributed to problem solving for, in regards to the issue of river restoration.

The municipality of Enschede consisted of the city of Enschede until 1935, when the rural municipality of Lonneker, which surrounded the city, was annexed after the rapid industrial expansion of Enschede which began in the 1860s and involved the building of railways and the digging of the Twentekanaal. The proposal for consolidation began in 1872, per the Tubantia newspaper article on 22 June 1872 that referenced a committee of 5 to oversee a study. They were: J. Mosman (Johannes Theodorus Mosman), H. Fikkert, H. G. Blijdenstein J. Bz., C. C. Schleucker, and G. J. van Heek. In sports and culture, Enschede is known for being home to football club FC Twente, one-time Dutch champions, and the University of Twente. The municipality of Enschede works together in the Twente Region and has been a participant in the EUREGIO, the first regional cross-border partnership in Europe, since its foundation in 1958.
