Söderström (Stockholm)

Lejonstedts Gränd is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town in central stockholm, Sweden. Stretching from Stora Nygatan to Mälartorget and crossed by Lilla Nygatan, it forms a parallel street to Tyska Brinken and Kornhamnstorg. It is named after the Country marshal (lantmarskalk) and Councillor of the Realm Anders Lejonstedt (1649–1725). Lejonstedt who before knighthood was named Volimhaus, owned the block taking up the north-eastern part of the street in the late-17th century together with his brother Jakob (ennobled Gyllenborg) .

Frantzén (Swedish pronunciation: [franˈseːn]), until 2013 Frantzén/Lindeberg, is a restaurant in Stockholm, situated on Klara Norra Kyrkogata number 26. In 2010, it received two stars in the Michelin Guide, and in 2018 it became the first Swedish restaurant to receive a third Michelin star.

Tyska Brinken (Swedish: The German Slope) is a street in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Extending Kindstugatan past the German Church down to the square Mälartorget, it is crossed by Skomakargatan, Prästgatan, Västerlånggatan, Stora Nygatan, Lilla Nygatan, and Munkbrogatan, while forming a parallel street to Schönfeldts Gränd and Lejonstedts Gränd.

Kornhamnstorg (Swedish: "Grain Harbour Square"[1]) is a public square in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Known as Kornhaffn (1427), Jernboen (1586), Åkaretorget (1644), and Kornhampns torget (1651), it is connected to the streets: Munkbroleden, Lilla Nygatan, Stora Nygatan, Torgdragargränd, Funckens Gränd, Triewaldsgränd. The statue of a man drawing a bow on the square, often misinterpreted as depicting William Tell, was inaugurated in 1916 as an homage to Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson, leader of the Engelbrekt rebellion (1434–1436) against the German-dominated government of Eric of Pomerania. The statue was carved by the sculptor Christian Eriksson (1859–1935).

Schönfeldts Gränd (Swedish: "Alley of Schönfeldt") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching south-west from Stora Nygatan to Mälartorget it is crossed by Lilla Nygatan and Munkbrogatan, and forms a parallel street to Kåkbrinken and Lejonstedts Gränd. Before the street names of the old town were revised in 1885, the part east of Lilla Nygatan was known as Schönfeldts gränd, while the western part was called Prechtens gränd ("Alley of [the] Precht").

Mälartorget (Swedish: Square of Mälaren) is a public square in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden, named after its location on the western waterfront of the old town facing Lake Mälaren. Connected to the square are the streets and alleys Munkbrogatan, Schönfeldts Gränd, Tyska Brinken, and Lejonstedts Gränd, while the traffic route Munkbroleden separates it from the quay. The main exit of the Gamla stan metro station is located on Mälartorget.

The Söderledstunneln ("South Way Tunnel") is a tunnel between the Central Bridge and the Johanneshov Bridge on the island of Södermalm in Stockholm. It is 1,550 metres long and traverses the island from north to south. Building started on 9 October 1984. On the stretch between Brännkyrkagatan and Folkungagatan an earlier tunnel called Södergatan had been built in 1944 in a cut-and-cover trench. Between 1964–1966, it was extended 150 metres under Åsö High School. At the start of the 1980s, the decision was taken to build a tunnel to alleviate the congestion south of Högbergsgatan, and then to rebuild the existing northern tunnel. Work finished on schedule in January 1991. The tunnel is actually two tubes of 7.25 metres wide apiece, with each carrying two lanes of traffic. The height is 4.5 metres, with 110 metres of the length cut out of the rock and the rest being concrete lined.

Lilla Nygatan (Swedish: Small New Street) is a street in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching from the square Munkbron south to Kornhamnstorg, the street in intercepted by Yxsmedsgränd, Kåkbrinken, Schönfeldts Gränd, Tyska Brinken, and Lejonstedts Gränd, while forming a parallel street to Stora Nygatan and Munkbrogatan.

Torgdragargränd (Swedish: "Market Draughter's Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town in Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching from the street Västerlånggatan to the square Kornhamnstorg, it forms a parallel street to Tyska Brinken and Funckens Gränd. Prior to 1981, Torgdragargränd was closed with a gate at Kornhamstorg and a low building at the other end. The present name commemorates the people working at the market next to the alley.

The Stockholm City Museum (Swedish: Stadsmuseet i Stockholm) is a museum documenting, preserving and exhibiting the history of Stockholm. The museum is housed in Södra Stadshuset at Slussen on Södermalm. The building was completed in 1685. In the 1930s the museum moved in and opened to the public in 1942. The museum is the largest municipal museum in Sweden, and houses collections which include 300,000 items of historical interest; 20,000 works of art and 3 million photographs. The City Museum closed for renovation January 12, 2015 and reopened on April 27, 2019.The museum is governed by the Cultural Affairs and Sports Division of the City of Stockholm. The city museum, the Museum of Medieval Stockholm and Stockholmia Förlag (which publishes books on Stockholm and Stockholm's history) operate as one department within the division. All political decisions are made by the specialist committee for Cultural Affairs.One of the museum's units – Cultural Heritage Department – "Kulturmiljöenheten" – is the City of Stockholm's cultural historical authority in relation to city planning proposals, building conversion, demolitions and other changes to the city's visual appearance.

Slussenområdet (Swedish: [ˈslɵ̂sːɛnɔmˌroːdɛt], the Sluice area) is an area of central Stockholm, on the Söderström river, connecting Södermalm and Gamla stan. The area is named after the locks between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. Called Karl Johanslussen, the locks themselves allow passage between these two bodies of water (of different levels). Slussen also refers to the cloverleaf interchange and associated pedestrian passages and walkways opened on 15 October 1935. The Slussen metro station is a hub of public transport in Stockholm, serving the red and green lines of the Stockholm Metro, with an adjoining bus terminal and Saltsjöbanan commuter rail station serving the eastern parts of Stockholm and its surroundings. The Djurgården ferry departs adjacently.
