Auburn Fire House No. 1, also known as Auburn Hose Company No. 1, at El Dorado St. & Lincoln Way in Auburn, Placer County, California, was built in 1888. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.It includes elements of Stick/Eastlake and Queen Anne styles.The station was rededicated in a ceremony in 2013, at its 125th year mark, after a decade of restoration by volunteers.

The Auburn Masonic Temple, also known as the Auburn Masonic Hall and the John H. Robinson Memorial Masonic Temple, is an historic two-story Masonic building located at 948 Lincoln Way on the Central Square in Auburn, California. In 1913 Eureka Lodge No. 16, Free and Accepted Masons, chartered in 1851, bought two adjoining one-story redbrick commercial buildings on this site for $17,000 and commissioned architect Allen D. Fellows to add a second-story to them with a unified facade with an entrance to the second floor placed in on the left side of the first floor street front. Fellows designed the expansion in the Beaux-Arts style of architecture with brick walls and a terracotta facade and it was built in 1914-1915 by Herdal Brothers of Auburn and dedicated on April 25, 1916. The terracotta was supplied by Gladding, McBean and Company which is still in existence. The first floor, which once housed a J. C. Penney store, continues to be used for retail and office space while the second floor continues to be used by Eureka Lodge and other Masonic-related bodies. On December 19, 2011, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.It was designed by George Clinton Sellon, the first State Architect of California. It was built during 1935-37 as a Works Progress Administration project.It has also hosted the Boys & Girls Club Auburn.In 2018, it holds the Placer County Visitors Bureau/California Welcome Center.

Auburn station is an Amtrak station in Auburn, California. Located at the corner of Nevada Street and Fulweiler Street, it serves as the northern terminus of the Capitol Corridor line. The station is not staffed. The platform is next to a short spur track off Track 2 of Union Pacific Railroad's route over Donner Pass. Because of the geography of the city, the Union Pacific's mainline tracks are split, with Track 1 running through the eastern side of the city and Track 2 crossing the western side of the city. The California Zephyr bypasses the city on its route between Roseville and Colfax primarily via Track 1. Auburn became a stop on Amtrak's Capitol Corridor in January 1998.It is served by one round trip per day from Oakland, and one weekend round trip per day from San Jose. The latter is the only round trip running along the entire 168 mi (270 km) length of the corridor. The station is also served by two Amtrak Thruway Motorcoach routes – one between the station and Sacramento and one between Sacramento and Sparks, Nevada. The latter route stops only to discharge passengers towards Sparks and only to receive passengers towards Sacramento.Auburn served 13,352 passengers boarding or detraining in fiscal year 2017.In March 2008, the station (formerly Auburn Multimodal Station) was renamed Robert F. Conheim Auburn Train Station after a long-time Auburn rail rider, who died the previous year.

Auburn Dam was a proposed concrete arch dam on the North Fork of the American River east of the town of Auburn, California, in the United States, on the border of Placer and El Dorado Counties. Slated to be completed in the 1970s by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, it would have been the tallest concrete dam in California and one of the tallest in the United States, at a height of 680 feet (210 m) and storing 2,300,000 acre-feet (2.8 km3) of water. Straddling a gorge downstream of the confluence of the North and Middle Forks of the American River and upstream of Folsom Lake, it would have regulated water flow and provided flood control in the American River basin as part of Reclamation's immense Central Valley Project. The dam was first proposed in the 1950s; construction work commenced in 1968, involving the diversion of the North Fork American River through a tunnel and the construction of a massive earthen cofferdam. Following a nearby earthquake and the discovery of an unrelated seismic fault that underlay the dam site, work on the project was halted for fears that the dam's design would not allow it to survive a major quake on the same fault zone. Although the dam was redesigned and a new proposal submitted by 1980, spiraling costs and limited economic justification put an end to the project until severe flooding in 1986 briefly renewed interest in Auburn's flood control potential. The California State Water Resources Control Board denied water rights for the dam project in 2008 due to lack of construction progress. Although new proposals surfaced from time to time after the 1980s, the dam was never built for a number of reasons, including limited water storage capacity, geologic hazards, and potential harm to recreation and the local environment. Much of the original groundwork at the Auburn Dam site still exists, and up to 2007, the North Fork American River still flowed through the diversion tunnel that had been constructed in preparation for the dam. Reclamation and Placer County Water Agency completed a pump station project that year which blocked the tunnel, returned the river to its original channel, and diverted a small amount of water through another tunnel under Auburn to meet local needs. However, some groups continue to support construction of the dam, which they state would provide important water regulation and flood protection.
