Opglabbeek (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɔpˌxlɑbeːk]; Limburgish: Glabbek) is a village, former municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. In 2018, Opglabbeek had a total population of 10,332. The total area is 24.98 km2.The municipality consisted of the following communities: Opglabbeek proper, Nieuwe Kempen, and Louwel. Effective 1 January 2019, Opglabbeek and Meeuwen-Gruitrode were merged into the new municipality of Oudsbergen.

Meeuwen-Gruitrode (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌmeːu.ə(ŋ)ˈɣrœytˌroːdə]; Limburgish: Miëve-Roj, [ˈmiəvəˈʀɔj]) is a former municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. In 2021, Meeuwen-Gruitrode had a total population of 13,117. The total area is 91.31 km². The municipality consisted of the following sub-municipalities: Meeuwen, Gruitrode, Ellikom, Neerglabbeek, and Wijshagen. It also includes the hamlets of Muisven, Ophoven, Zoetebeek, Koestraat, and Plokrooi. Effective 1 January 2019, Opglabbeek and Meeuwen-Gruitrode were merged into the new municipality of Oudsbergen.

Zwartberg Airfield (IATA: GNK, ICAO: EBZW) is a public use airport located 6 km (4 mi) north-northeast of Genk, Limburg, Belgium. It was built in the 1950s.

The Cegeka Arena is a multi-purpose stadium in Genk, Belgium. It is currently used mostly for association football matches and is the home ground of K.R.C. Genk. The stadium holds 23,718 (of which 4,200 are standing places) and was built in 1999. Heusden-Zolder played at this stadium for their single season at the top level in 2003-04. Following the relegation of the club, it moved to Mijnstadion in Beringen. The average home attendance varies from 20,000 to 22,000 supporters who visit the stadium every fortnight.

The Arrondissement of Maaseik (Dutch: Arrondissement Maaseik; French: Arrondissement de Maaseik) is one of the three administrative arrondissements in the Province of Limburg, Belgium. It is not a judicial arrondissement. The municipalities of Bocholt, Bree, Kinrooi, Meeuwen-Gruitrode, Dilsen-Stokkem and Maaseik, are part of the Judicial Arrondissement of Tongeren, while the rest of its municipalities are part of the Judicial Arrondissement of Hasselt.

Hoge Kempen National Park (Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen) is the first National Park in Flanders, Belgium. It is located in the Campine in the East of the Province of Limburg, between Genk and the river Meuse (Dutch: Maas) Valley. It includes the elevated ground that defines the watershed between that river and the low ground of the drainage basin of the river Demer that covers most of Belgian Limburg.

The Limburg Zoo, also known as Zwartberg Zoo, was a zoo in the Belgian parish of Zwartberg in the municipality of Genk. The zoo was private property of the Wouters family and did not receive any subsidy or sponsorship. The zoo was known for its large number of animals, which resulted from the internal breeding programme and the acquisition of abused and dumped animals from bankrupt zoos and circuses. The large number of animals, the poor state of the animal enclosures, and actions by animal rights organisations drew media attention to the zoo. In 1997 the Wouters family decided to close it; the animals were relocated to other zoos.

The total area is 86.95 km² which gives a population density of 182 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following sub-municipalities: Peer, Grote-Brogel, Kleine-Brogel, Wauberg, Erpekom and Wijchmaal. Peer is the site of a famous annual blues music festival held in July.
