Grace Schools is a co-educational school founded in Gbagada, Lagos, Nigeria in the year 1968. The school is divided into four sections: the Nursery, the Primary, Secondary School and the Pre-University.

Lagos Baptist Academy is a secondary school located in Obanikoro, Lagos, Nigeria. The school was established in 1855 by the American Baptist Missionaries. The school is regarded as a sister school to Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls' Secondary School, Yaba, Lagos and Baptist Girls' Academy, Obanikoro, Lagos.

The CMS Grammar School in Bariga, a suburb of Lagos in Lagos State, is the oldest secondary school in Nigeria, founded on 6 June 1859 by the Church Missionary Society. For decades it was the main source of African clergymen and administrators in the Lagos Colony.

The Indian Language School was established in Lagos, Nigeria in 1982 in light of the growing Indian community in the city. Indian Language School is a private school setup by the Indian high commission in Nigeria. It was originally set up in a residential neighborhood at 11 Johnson Street, Illupeju, Lagos. The school began as converted residences — with three floors, a playground, a football court, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. Over the past few years, the school has expanded significantly, acquiring nearby properties, thus catering to the large number of students that enroll with the school each year. This is currently the only Indian school in Lagos and offers education till 12th standard. It has classes from LKG to 12 and has been holding CBSE Board Examinations for Grades 10 and 12, since the late 1980s.

Akoka is a suburb of Yaba in Lagos State. It is known to be the hub of major tertiary institutions in Lagos including the University of Lagos and Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka.

Igbobi College is a college established by the Methodist and Anglican Churches in 1932, in the Yaba suburb of Lagos, Lagos State, South-western Nigeria. It is still on its original site and most of the original buildings are intact. It is one of the oldest colleges in Nigeria, and has been the alma mater of a number of well-known Nigerians. In 2001 the school was returned to its original owners by the Bola Tinubu led Lagos state government.

The Lagos armoury explosion was the accidental detonation of a large stock of high explosives at a military storage facility in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, on 27 January 2002. The fires created by the debris from this explosion burnt down a large section of Northern Lagos, and created a panic that spread to other areas. As people fled the flames, many stumbled into a concealed canal and drowned. The explosion and its aftermath are believed to have killed at least 1,100 people and displaced over 20,000, with many thousands injured or homeless. The government of Nigeria launched an enquiry, which blamed the Nigerian Army for failing to properly maintain the base, or to decommission it when instructed to do so in 2001.

The University of Lagos Library is the hub for academic work in the university. All academic related functions such as teaching, research, and learning find their support base in the library where all types of documents, are categorized for easy access to members of the university community. The main library was established in 1962 saddled with the responsibility of complementing the teaching, learning, and research of the institution headed by Professor Yetunde Zaid . The library moved to its present permanent site in Akoka Yaba, in September 1965. Other prominent (branch) libraries include the Education library, Taslim Olawale Elias library, etc.

The University of Lagos, popularly known as UNILAG, is a public research university located in Lagos, Nigeria and was founded in 1962. UNILAG is one of the first generation universities in Nigeria and is ranked among the top universities in the world in major education publications. The university presently has three campuses in the mainland of Lagos. Whereas two of its campuses are located at Yaba (the main campus in Akoka and the recently created campus at the former school of radiography), it's college of medicine is located at Idi-Araba, Surulere. Its main campus is largely surrounded by the Lagos lagoon and has 802 acres of land. The University of Lagos currently admits over 9,000 undergraduate students annually and enrolls over 57,000 students. A visitation panel, created to look into the affairs of the university between 2016 and 2020 detected cases of financial abuses from top officials and ordered the university to close accounts with commercial banks.

The Federal University Lokoja, popularly known as Fulokoja or by its acronym, FUL, is a federal university in the confluence city of Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria. Lokoja lies at the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers. The Federal University Lokoja was established in February 2011 by the Federal Government of Nigeria as a result of indispensable need to create more universities in the country.

Yaba Higher College was founded in 1932 in Yaba, now a suburb of Lagos in Nigeria to provide tertiary education to Africans, mostly in vocational subjects and teaching. The college staff were transferred to start the University of Ibadan in 1948 and the college premises were used for the new Yaba College of Technology.
