Metcalfe County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. Its county seat and only municipality is Edmonton. The county was founded in May 1860 and named for Thomas Metcalfe, Governor of Kentucky from 1828 to 1832. Metcalfe County is part of the Glasgow, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Bowling Green-Glasgow, KY Combined Statistical Area.

Alone is a ghost town and unincorporated townsite in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, along KY 1243, named by J.C. Withers. A post office was established on November 30, 1880, and D.J. Anderson was postmaster in 1887. In 1892, the Beachville Lodge No. 619 of the Masons met here every Saturday of each month. From July 1, 1914, to July 1, 1917, Alone readers were supplied by a traveling library.

Edmonton is a home rule-class city in and the county seat of Metcalfe County, Kentucky, United States. It is part of the Glasgow Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,671 at the 2020 census.

The Metcalfe County Jail, in Edmonton, Kentucky, is a historic jail which was built around 1861. It was used to hold prisoners until the early 1980s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. It is an early Romanesque Revival-style building constructed of limestone blocks by stonemason John Wilson. It is 36.75 by 24.33 feet (11.20 m × 7.42 m) in plan. It is located on a corner of East street about 600 feet (180 m) northeast of the Metcalfe County Courthouse.

The Metcalfe County Kentucky Courthouse, on Public Square in Edmonton, Kentucky, was built in 1868–69. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. The courthouse is a two-story common bond brick structure, Italianate in style. It was deemed significant as "one of the oldest courthouses still standing in south central Kentucky since many have been torn down and replaced by new structures. It is the unofficial symbol or logo for Metcalfe County - the one thing all Metcalfe Countians can identify with and recognize."

The Sulphur Well Historic District is an 81 acres (33 ha) historic district in Sulphur Well, Kentucky which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.It is roughly bounded by Wister Wallace Road, the southern fork of the Little Barren River, Mitchell-Edwards Road, and Kentucky Route 70. The listing included 37 contributing buildings, a contributing structure, and five contributing sites.According to its nomination, "Sulphur Well is a good example of a small rural mineral water town in western Kentucky that developed between 1860 and 1949."
