Dießenbach (also: Gönsbach) is a small brook and right tributary to the Kleebach brook in central Hesse, Germany. It flows into the Kleebach in Linden.

The Schwingbach is a small 11-kilometre-long (6.8 mi) left tributary to the Kleebach river in central Hesse, Germany. It flows into the Kleebach in Hüttenberg.

Langgöns is a municipality in the district of Gießen, in Hesse, Germany. It is situated 10 km south of Gießen. Due to the town's convenient proximity to several former U.S. military bases; Ayers Kaserne, Giessen Army Depot, and Ray Barracks, the town was formerly home to community of several hundred Americans, primarily U.S. military and civilian personnel and their families.

Gießen railway station (German: Bahnhof Gießen) is the main railway station in Gießen, Hesse, Germany. The station is a Category 2 station is used by 20,000 passengers daily. The station was opened on 25 August 1850 and is located on the Main-Weser Railway (Kassel – Frankfurt (Main)) and Dill railway (Siegen – Gießen). The current station reception building was built between 1904 and 1911. The main original station building is a historic landmark and has been protected. Outside the station is a bus station and a taxi rank . Parking garages are located nearby.

Kleebach is a 27-kilometre-long (17 mi) left tributary of the Lahn river in central Hesse, Germany. It originates in the most Eastern part of the Hintertaunus mountains and from there it flows mostly in Northern direction towards the Lahn River. Along its course it flows through a string of small villages surrounded by small forests and fields.

The Mathematikum is a science museum, located in Gießen, Germany, which offers a huge variety of mathematical hands-on exhibits. It was founded by Albrecht Beutelspacher, a German mathematician. The Mathematikum opened its doors to visitors on 19 November 2002. It was inaugurated by the German president Johannes Rau. Since then, the museum has attracted more than 1,500,000 visitors. Annually the museum is visited by more than 150,000 people. The museum is opened every day of the week, including Sunday and Monday.

The Wieseck is a river in Hesse, Germany. It is a left tributary (east) of the Lahn in the Vorderer Vogelsberg region. It rises in Saasen and after 24.3 kilometres, flows into the Lahn at Giessen, near the railway station. The Giessen suburb of Wieseck is named after the river.

Giessen, spelled Gießen in German (German pronunciation: [ˈɡiːsn̩] (listen)), is a town in the German federated state (Bundesland) of Hesse, capital of both the district of Giessen and the administrative region of Giessen. The population is approximately 90,000, with roughly 37,000 university students. The name comes from Giezzen, as it was first referred to in 1197, which refers to the position of the town between several rivers, lakes and streams. The largest river in Giessen is the Lahn, which divides the town in two parts (west and east), roughly 50 kilometres (31 miles) north of Frankfurt am Main. Giessen is also home to the University of Giessen. In 1969, the town hosted the ninth Hessentag state festival.

Heuchelheim (official name: Heuchelheim a. d. Lahn) is a municipality in the district of Gießen, in Hesse, Germany. Since 1 April 1967 it has included the district Kinzenbach. It has approximately 8,000 residents spread across two districts - Heuchelheim (5,800 inhabitants) and Kinzenbach (2,200 inhabitants). Until 1967 the independent villages of Heucheleim and Kinzenbach were part of other counties. In the 60s both villages cooperated leading to union in 1967. From 1977 to 1979 Heuchelheim formed part of the administrative town Lahn, a compound of Gießen, Wetzlar and other municipalities in between.

University of Giessen, official name Justus Liebig University Giessen (German: Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen), is a large public research university in Giessen, Hesse, Germany. It is named after its most famous faculty member, Justus von Liebig, the founder of modern agricultural chemistry and inventor of artificial fertiliser. It covers the areas of arts/humanities, business, dentistry, economics, law, medicine, science, social sciences, and veterinary medicine. Its university hospital, which has two sites, Giessen and Marburg (the latter of which is the teaching hospital of the University of Marburg), is the only private university hospital in Germany.
