2018 WGC-Mexico Championship

The WGC Championship was a professional golf tournament that was held between 1999 and 2021. It was one of the three or four annual World Golf Championships until the number of WGC events was reduced to two following the 2021 season. Under sponsorship agreements, the WGC Championship was titled as the WGC-American Express Championship (1999–2006), when it was hosted at various locations in Europe and the United States; the WGC-CA Championship (2007–2010), then the WGC-Cadillac Championship (2011–2016), when it was hosted at Doral Golf Resort, Florida; and the WGC-Mexico Championship (2017–2020), when it was played at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico. In 2021, the tournament was disrupted by travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic; it was relocated to The Concession Golf Club in Florida and titled as the WGC-Workday Championship. It was sanctioned and organized by the International Federation of PGA Tours and the prize money was official money on both the PGA Tour and the European Tour. Tiger Woods had the record number of wins with seven. The winner received a Wedgwood trophy named the Gene Sarazen Cup.

The 2020 WGC-Mexico Championship was a golf tournament played February 20–23 at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Naucalpan, Mexico, just west of Mexico City. It was the 21st time the WGC Championship is played, and the first of the World Golf Championships events to be staged in 2020. The approximate elevation of the course's clubhouse is 2,400 meters (7,870 ft) above sea level. Patrick Reed won his second WGC Championship (first in Mexico), by a single stroke ahead of Bryson DeChambeau. DeChambeau was leading heading into the final stages, but scored an aggregate one-over-par on the final 4 holes, whereas Reed birdied the 15th, 16th, and 17th. During the final round five players had a share of the lead, with the other main challengers being Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Erik van Rooyen.

It was the 18th time the WGC Championship has been played, and the first of the World Golf Championships events to be staged in 2017. The approximate elevation of the course's clubhouse is 2,400 meters (7,870 ft) above sea level. The Championship was won by Dustin Johnson in his first tournament as the World number 1.

Club de Golf Chapultepec is a golf club in Naucalpan, just outside Mexico City, Mexico. It has hosted the Mexican Open multiple times, and has hosted the WGC-Mexico Championship 4 times between 2017 and 2020.

The 2019 WGC-Mexico Championship was a golf tournament played February 21–24 at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Naucalpan, Mexico, just west of Mexico City. It was the 20th time the WGC Championship was played, and the first of the World Golf Championships events to be staged in 2019. The approximate elevation of the course's clubhouse is 2,400 meters (7,870 ft) above sea level. Dustin Johnson eased to a 5 stroke victory ahead of Rory McIlroy to win his third WGC Championship (second in Mexico), and sixth World Golf Championship overall. Although the victory did not immediately return Johnson to world number one, he and the current number one (Justin Rose) were not competing in the following week, which meant he was guaranteed to return to top spot a week later.

The Irish Institute (Spanish: Instituto Irlandés) is a Catholic private school in Greater Mexico City. Operated by the Legionaries of Christ, the grounds, located in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, have separate areas for boys and girls, plus a third one for the coed preschool. Hipódromo de las Américas is a thoroughbred and quarter-horse race track in Mexico City, Mexico that had its inaugural meeting on March 6, 1943. It is located approximately four and one-half miles from the downtown district, on Lomas de Sotelo, Mexico City. It is operated by Grupo CIE. Facilities include the original club-house and grandstand, with seating for 20,000 persons, as well a stable area which can accommodate 1700 horses. It is the home of the Mexican Derby, and many prominent jockeys have ridden there over the years. Track: oval; Two Chutes: Seven furlongs and one and one-quarter miles. Record Attendance: 43,371 on Feb. 5, 1981; Record Pari-Mutuel Handle: $1,428,858 on May 30, 1981.

Lomas de Chapultepec (English: "Chapultepec Hills") is a colonia, or officially recognized neighborhood, located in the Miguel Hidalgo borough of Mexico City. It dates back to the 1920s, when it was founded with the name Chapultepec Heights. Home to some of the biggest mansions in the city and many high-net-worth individuals, it has gained a reputation of exclusivity. Its main entrance is through Paseo de la Reforma.
