Thorpe Morieux Woods

Thorpe Morieux ( Mə-ROO) is a small village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. It is 10 miles south-east of Bury St Edmunds and 10 miles north east of Sudbury. Located in Babergh district, the parish contains the hamlets of Thorpe Green and Almshouses Green, as well as Great Hastings Wood (part of the Thorpe Morieux Woods SSSI), which is classified as Ancient Woodland. It was anciently in the Cosford Hundred. There are 14 listed buildings in the parish, mostly grade II with the grade II* Thorpe Hall and the grade I parish church of St Mary the Virgin.The village is located on the river Brett.

Old Buckenham Hall School (commonly known as OBH) is a day and boarding preparatory school with pre-prep for boys and girls in the village of Brettenham, Suffolk, England.Founded in 1862, the school has been on its current site since 1956, and currently accommodates about 125 boys and 125 girls between the ages of 2 and 13 years.The school is located in Brettenham Park, a grade II* listed building in about 80 acres (320,000 m2) of parkland in the Suffolk village of Brettenham. Its pupils take the Common Entrance exam, going on to a range of public schools such as Uppingham, Oundle, Harrow, Rugby, Framlingham and The Leys.

Bradfield Woods is an 81.4-hectare (201-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket in Suffolk. The site is in three separate blocks, the adjoining Felsham Hall and Monkspark Woods, and the much smaller separate Hedge Wood and Chensil Grove. Felsham Hall and Monkspark Woods are designated a 63.3 National Nature Reserve, also called Bradfield Woods, and are managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.These woods have a history of coppicing dating to before 1252, producing a very high diversity of flora, with over 370 plant species recorded. Uncommon woodland flowers include oxlip, herb paris and ramson. There is also a rich variety of fungi, with two species not recorded elsewhere in Britain.There is access from Felsham Road west of Gedding.

Gedding is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Located around six miles south east of Bury St Edmunds. At the 2011 census its population was 125, rising to 134 at the 2018 ONS mid year estimate.

Brettenham is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England. In 2005 it had a population of 270, increasing to 353 at the 2011 Census, and reduced to 320 in the 2021 census. Almost the entire built-up area is defined as a conservation area, and the parish also contains some ancient woodland at Ram's Wood. The village is home to independent prep school, Old Buckenham Hall.

The school offers an educational opportunity for children with dyslexia, developmental coordination disorder, AD/HD, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and related SpLD (specific learning difficulties). It is well known by the conservative party for its specialist, whole school approach and attempts, which are often met with success, to return pupils to mainstream education. Boarding places were also available, however as of September 5, 2022, these places are no longer available The school's curriculum is designed for children with specific learning difficulties aged 8–19. Pupils have access to a broad and balanced National Curriculum. Classes are small and set by ability, not year group. Classers are taught in groups of 10 or less.

Bull's Wood is a 12 hectare nature reserve east of Cockfield in Suffolk, England. It is managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, and is part of the Thorpe Morieux Woods Site of Special Scientific Interest.Flora in this wood include early-purple orchids, herb-paris and the uncommon oxlips. There are roe deer, marsh tits, and butterflies such as gatekeepers, speckled woods and orange tips.There is access by a footpath from Palmers Farm.

Preston St Mary is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Located to the north-east of Lavenham, it is part of the Babergh district. The parish includes the hamlets of Rooksey Green and Whelp Street. The church of St Mary dates from the 14th and 15th centuries but was rebuilt in 1868 after being struck by lightning in 1758. It is a grade I listed building.Preston Hall is a 17th-century grade II* listed country house.An episode of Time Team was filmed in the village in 1996.

Originally built in the 14th century it suffered lightning damage in 1758, and was substantially restored by Arthur Blomfield in 1868. It is a Grade I listed building.
