Newton Grange, Skipton

Bank Newton is a small settlement and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 47, and at the 2011 census the population of the civil parish remained less than 100 and therefore its details were included in the civil parish of Gargrave. In 2015, North Yorkshire County Council estimated the population of the parish to be 50.It is about 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Skipton and is on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal; there are six locks on the canal at Bank Newton. In 2016, as part of the canal's bicentenary, lock number 38 was officially renamed the 'Mike Clarke Lock' in commemoration to the president of The Leeds and Liverpool Society, Mike Clarke.A notable historic house is the Grade II listed Newton Grange which now provides holiday cottage accommodation and is a venue for weddings.

Bank Newton Hall is a historic building in Bank Newton, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The older wing of the building dates from the mid-17th century, when it may have constituted one wing of a larger house. An extension was added in the 18th century, and the rear elevation was altered in the 19th century. The house was grade II* listed in 1964. The building is constructed of rendered stone with a stone slate roof. The original block has three storeys and an attic, and a single bay. It has a single double-chamfered window in each floor with from eight to two lights. This tiering of windows of reducing width makes them the key architectural feature of the house. Each window has a hood mould, and there is a ball finial on the gable apex. On the left return is a massive chimney breast, and at the rear are round-headed windows, including a stair window. The extension to the right is lower with two storeys, and it contains mullioned windows. Inside, the newer wing has an original fireplace, and there is believed to be another in the older part, along with a panel with a carving of a coat of arms.

East Marton is a village in the Craven District of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 5 miles (8 km) west of the market town of Skipton and is on the A59 road. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal passes through the village on the descent from Foulridge to Leeds. The canal towpath in the village is part of the Pennine Way and the original pack-horse bridge over the canal was transformed into a double-arched bridge when the new A59 road was built on top of it. The canal was fully opened in 1816 with the section through East Marton being started in 1793. Some of the Navvies who died of smallpox whilst constructing the canal are buried in the churchyard.The church, dedicated to St Peter, was first built during Norman times to replace an earlier Saxon church in the village. St Peter's has been added to in the 17th and 19th centuries.There is a TV transmission mast just north of the village.Together with West Marton it forms the civil parish of Martons Both and in the 2011 census the population was listed as 213.East Marton was an ancient parish, sometimes known as Church Marton or Marton in Craven, in Staincliffe Wapentake in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It was transferred to North Yorkshire in 1974.

St Peter's Church is the parish church of East Marton, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The church was built in the 12th century, from which period the tower survives. The nave and chancel were rebuilt, probably in the 16th century, then the south aisle was rebuilt and the porch was added in 1769. The church was grade II* listed in 1954. The church is built of stone and has a slate roof. It consists of a nave, a south aisle, a chancel and a west tower. The tower is Norman, it contains small round-headed windows, small two-light bell openings, and an embattled parapet. The porch has a round-arched doorway with impost blocks and a triple keystone, and a pediment. Inside, there is an early font, and part of a carved pillar which was relocated from St Helen's Well in Thorp Arch.

Coniston Cold is a village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the Staincliffe Wapentake of the West Riding of Yorkshire, the village lies 7 miles (11 km) north-west of Skipton along the A65.According to the 2001 UK census, Coniston Cold parish had a population of 186, increasing to 203 at the 2011 Census.

Ingthorpe Grange is a historic building near West Marton, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. In the late Mediaeval period, there was a grange of Bolton Abbey on the site. Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the site was granted to Henry Clifford, 1st Earl of Cumberland. The current house was built in 1672, and in the 19th century was extended to the rear, with many windows altered and the left gable rebuilt. The building was grade II* listed in 1954. Since 2009, it has served as a bed and breakfast. The house is built of stone with a stone-slate roof, two storeys and an attic, and a front of three gabled bays with ball finials. On the front is a full-height gabled porch with a ball finial. It contains a round-arched doorway with a chamfered surround, above which is a string course, an initialled datestone, a three-light chamfered window with a pediment-like panel containing an inscription, and a small round-headed window. Elsewhere, the windows are mullioned, those in the attic are stepped, and they all have hood moulds.

St Peter's Church is an Anglican church in Coniston Cold, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The church was designed in the Early English by George Webster, on land donated by James Braithwaite Garforth. It was completed in 1846 and dedicated in 1847, and was soon given its own parish. This survived until 1987, when it was placed in the parish of St Michael's Church, Kirkby Malham. The church was Grade II listed in 1989. In 2008, it was moved back into the parish of Gargrave. The church is built of stone, with a stone slate roof. It consists of a single cell with four bays, and a west steeple. The steeple has a tower with three stages and a south doorway. The top stage is splayed to become octagonal, it contains small louvred bell openings, and is surmounted by a short octagonal spire. There are buttresses between the bays, and angle buttresses on the corners and the tower. Inside, there is a triple-decker pulpit, and under the tower there is a small organ gallery. There is a braced king post roof, and the glass is clear latticework.

Gargrave is a railway station on the Bentham Line, which runs between Leeds and Morecambe via Skipton. The station, situated 30 miles (48 km) north-west of Leeds, serves the village of Gargrave in North Yorkshire. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

The Tempest Arms is a historic pub in Elslack, a village in North Yorkshire, England. The pub was built in 1786 and extended in 1801. It was grade II listed in 1988, and in 2011 it was named the Good Pub Guide's national pub of the year. In 2023, it was refurbished by its owners, Robinsons Brewery, at which time it had 21 bedrooms, a bar and a dining room. The pub is built of stone with quoins and a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and seven bays. In the left bay are three-light recessed square mullioned windows, and the second bay contains a blocked doorway with a hood, over which is a plaque with a coat of arms, initials and a date. In the third bay is a two-light mullioned window. The right part contains a doorway with a flat arch, and a keystone with initials and a date.

St Andrew's Church is the parish church of Gargrave, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The church was probably originally built in the 16th century, from which period the tower survives. In 1674, the vicar demolished the large rood screen, which doubled as an organ loft. Unfortunately, the screen also played a structural role, and the action caused part of the roof to collapse, and the south aisle to become unusable. It was repaired, but the bulk of the building was later demolished and rebuilt in 1852 by Rhode Hawkins, in the Perpendicular style. It was grade II listed in 1954. The church is built of sandstone, yellowish in the tower, and red elsewhere, the aisle and tower have lead roofs, and the roofs elsewhere are in green slate. The church consists of a nave with a clerestory, north and south aisles, north and south porches, a chancel, and a west tower. The tower has diagonal buttresses, a three-light west window, above which is a niche, three-light bell openings, and an embattled parapet with eight crocketed pinnacles. Seven windows in the chancel have stained glass by Jean-Baptiste Capronnier.

Paget Hall is a historic building in Gargrave, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The house was built in the early 17th century, but was heavily restored in the 19th century, the work removing many details. Despite this, many early features survive, including a garderobe in the hall chamber, and the late-17th century roof. The house was grade II listed in 1954. The house is built of stone with stone slate roofs. It has a T-shaped plan, with a main block of two storeys and an attic, and two bays, and smaller two-storey wings to the north and the south. The windows are chamfered and mullioned with hood moulds. In the attic roof of the main block are four upper crucks. Inside, there are early fireplaces in both the east and west ground floor rooms, and the main staircase has a 17th century appearance, but may date from the 19th century restoration. The house has a grade II listed outbuilding, probably once a stable, which has been converted for residential use. It is in stone with quoins and a stone slate roof. There are two storeys, and it contains a window with a chamfered surround in the ground floor, a taking-in door above, and in the east gable is a dovecote.

West Marton is a village in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is on the A59 road about 6.5 miles (10.5 km) west of the market town of Skipton, and 8 miles (13 km) north of Colne.
