Canton of Monts

Monts (French pronunciation: [mɔ̃] (listen)) is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France. It was here at the Château de Candé on 3 June 1937 that The Duke of Windsor, formerly King Edward VIII, married the twice-divorced Wallis Warfield Simpson for whom he had abdicated the throne of Britain and the Empire. They have an association football team playing in the Promotion d'Honneur de Centre, the eighth division of the French football league system. They are called AS Monts. They were founded in 1924 and play at the Stade des Griffonnes. Their kit is blue.

Château d'Artigny or Château Le Puy d'Artigny is a French castle located in the commune of Montbazon, in the department of Indre-et-Loire in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. Joué-lès-Tours (French pronunciation: [ʒwe lɛ tuʁ] (listen), literally Joué near Tours) is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France.It is the largest suburb of the city of Tours, and is adjacent to it on the southwest.

On 20 December 2014, a man in Joué-lès-Tours near the city of Tours in central France entered a police station and attacked officers with a knife, shouting "Allahu Akbar" and injuring three before he was shot and killed. The attack was categorised as a case of religiously inspired terrorism by Europol, and has been reported by Europol as well as mappings by CNN and AFP as inspired by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
