Bancroft, Ontario

North Hastings High School (NHHS) is a high school located in Bancroft, Ontario, Canada serving students in the northern portion of Hastings County and part of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board. NHHS offers specialized 4-credit courses which allow students to learn principles of resource management and environmental studies, which help them to gain employment in resource-based careers.

Eagle's Nest Park is a scenic lookout in the town of Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. It is built on the top of a sheer rock face and overlooks the northern portions of the town, the York River and Bancroft Airport. The name comes from a likely apocryphal story that takes place in 1883. Mr. and Mrs. Gaebel were in their yard when they heard the screams of a child that an eagle was attempting to carry off. The eagle was frightened off and the child unharmed, but the Gaebel's decided they should remove the eagle to prevent such attacks in the future. They lowered their son, 12-year-old William, down to the nest that was in a fir tree on the cliff face. He destroyed the eggs and the eagle left, never to return. Eagles were reported to have used the site in the past, but the last recorded confirmed sighting in the area was in 1918. Today, the purported site of the action features the Hawkwatch Trail, capped by a large wooden platform that provides views out over the town. The trail passes the footings of a former fire watchtower. The site was recently redeveloped with several additional trails being added and a number of interpretive centers.

Bancroft Airport (TC LID: CNW3) is adjacent to Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. The airport is operated by the Bancroft Flying Club and is freely available to the general public. Due to high terrain near both ends of the runway, pilots typically use a non-standard circuit, following the York River valley through the town for departing from runway 12 or landing on runway 30.

Greyhawk Mine is a decommissioned underground uranium mine located in Faraday Township near Bancroft, Ontario. It operated from 1954 to 1959 and from 1976 to 1982. The mine produced 80,247 tons of uranium ore, of which 0.069% was U3O8 worth $834,899. Aside from uranium, the mine has produced some of the world's best samples of Kainosite-(Y).

Madawaska Mine (previously known as Faraday Mine) is a decommissioned underground uranium mine in Faraday, near the town of Bancroft, Ontario, which produced 9 million pounds (4,082 tonnes) of U3O8 concentrate, at an average ore grade of 0.1074%, during its two periods of production. Madawaska Mine produced uranium for the longest period out of the four nearby mines (the three others being Bicroft Mine, Greyhawk Mine, and Dyno Mine). Aside from uranium, the mine is also a renowned source of calcite crystals, ilmenite crystals, kainosite-(Y), Molybdenite, and uranophane crystals.

The Richardson Mine was Ontario's first gold mine, opened by Marcus Herbert Powell in 1867. The mine's opening caused Ontario's first gold rush, prompting the founding of Eldorado, Ontario the same year. After only 100 ounces of gold was extracted, the mine closed in 1869.

Egan Chutes Provincial Park is located 15 km (9.3 mi) east of Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. It was established as a provincial park in 1989 but is a non-operating park. Egan chutes is classified as a nature reserve, protecting a section of the York River.

CHMS-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 97.7 FM in Bancroft, Ontario. The station airs a classic Hits format using the on-air branding 97.7 Moose FM, and is owned by Vista Broadcast Group. The station originally began broadcasting as CJNH in 1975, on the AM band at 1240 kHz and partially rebroadcasting CJBQ in Belleville, and CJTN in Trenton, to the south. On December 13, 1984, the CRTC approved a number of applications for a number of AM radio stations across Ontario including CJNH Bancroft to increase their nighttime power from 250 watts to 1,000 watts. CJNH was given approval by the CRTC on March 2, 2001 to convert to FM, and moved to the FM band at 97.7 FM in May 2001 with the new callsign CHMS-FM. On April 23, 2012 Vista Broadcast Group, which owns a number of radio stations in western Canada, announced a deal to acquire Haliburton Broadcasting Group, in cooperation with Westerkirk Capital. The transaction was approved by the CRTC on October 19, 2012. The station later became a classic hits as 97.7 Moose FM.

Silver Crater Mine, previously known as the Basin Deposit, is an abandoned mine in Cardiff, Ontario. It has produced some of the world's most notable betafite crystals. The mine has been worked since the late 19th-century, with industrial mining of mica starting in 1927. Uranium was sought in the 1950s and the mine has been abandoned since 1955.
