2001 Molson Indy Vancouver

The 2000 Molson Indy Vancouver was a Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) motor race held on September 3, 2000 at Concord Pacific Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was the 15th round of the 2000 CART season. Paul Tracy won the race by less than half a second over his teammate Dario Franchitti with Adrian Fernández taking third place. The race was an emotional affair, as it was former CART driver Greg Moore's home event and the first since his death at the 1999 Marlboro 500. His number, #99, was retired before the start of the race while Canadian sports legend Wayne Gretzky (who also sported #99 during his NHL career) gave the command to start engines. Franchitti was handily leading the race until he stalled the car during a pitstop under caution, allowing Tracy to streak by in the pitlane and into first place. While the race did not see a lot of on-track passing, multiple cars were taken out as a result of crashes and on-track incidents. A total of 63,677 fans attended the event.

Molson Indy Vancouver was an annual Champ Car race held in a street circuit near BC Place and running past Science World in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada held in July, August or September from 1990 to 2004. On September 2, 1990, the first race took place on the original circuit, which was won by Al Unser Jr. From 1998, a new circuit was created to the east of the old Pacific Place, where only a small part of the original circuit was used. The circuit was popular with drivers and often produced an entertaining race. For most of its fifteen years, the Vancouver Indy attracted in excess of 100,000 spectators over the course of its weekends, and in 1996 held the Canadian single-day sporting event attendance record until it was beaten by the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal that year. The final event in 2004 had race day attendance of 63,000 with a total three day turnout of 158,420 spectators. However, from 2004, Vancouver was left off the Champ Car fixture list. In July 2021 it was announced a new race for the electric-powered FIA Formula E World Championship, the Vancouver ePrix would be run on the same site.

The 2004 Molson Indy Vancouver was the seventh round of the 2004 Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season, held on July 25, 2004 on the streets of Concord Pacific Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Paul Tracy swept the pole and the race win. It was the last Champ Car event to take place in Vancouver.

The 1999 Molson Indy Vancouver was a Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) motor race held on September 5, 1999, at Concord Pacific Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was the 16th round of the 1999 CART season. Juan Pablo Montoya won the race from pole position and led nearly every lap en route to his seventh win of the season, followed by Patrick Carpentier and Jimmy Vasser. Despite leading all but one lap during the race, Montoya was hampered by the wet racetrack and the pace of his championship rival Dario Franchitti; at one point, both drivers touched on track, spinning Franchitti out and ending his chances at winning the race. The race also saw multiple crashes as drivers struggled to navigate around the soaking wet racetrack.

Concord Pacific Place is "Canada's biggest master-planned urban community" and is projected to be North America's largest in terms of occupants and area when completed. It is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the north shore of False Creek. The area was formerly the rail yards of the Canadian Pacific Railway, and was redeveloped into the main site of the 1986 World Exposition. In 1988, it was purchased by Concord Pacific Developments with investors led by Hongkonger billionaire Li Ka-shing. It was subsequently expanded during Vancouver's recurrent housing booms of the 1990s and 2000s, brought about by greater port traffic and general economic activity, waves of Asian immigration, and the 2010 Winter Olympics. Estimates of the total size of the finished development range from a "[C]$2 billion... 200 acre site comprises approximately 8,000 units of accommodation" to a "[C]$4 billion [site]... [home to] more than 20,000 people on over 200 acres" to "about 50 buildings with 10,000 homes".

The Georgia Viaduct is a twinned bridge that acts as a flyover-like overpass in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It passes between Rogers Arena and BC Place Stadium and connects Downtown Vancouver with Main Street and Strathcona.

Rogers Arena is a multi-purpose arena located at 800 Griffiths Way in the downtown area of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Opened in 1995, the arena was known as General Motors Place (GM Place) from its opening until July 6, 2010, when General Motors Canada ended its naming rights sponsorship and a new agreement for those rights was reached with Rogers Communications. Rogers Arena was built to replace Pacific Coliseum as Vancouver's primary indoor sports facility and in part due to the National Basketball Association (NBA) 1995 expansion into Canada, when Vancouver and Toronto were given expansion teams. It is home to the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League, the Vancouver Warriors of the National Lacrosse League and the Vancouver Titans of the Overwatch League. The arena also hosted the ice hockey events at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The name of the arena temporarily became Canada Hockey Place during the Olympics. It was previously home to the Vancouver Grizzlies of the NBA from 1995 to 2001. The Grizzlies spent six seasons in Vancouver before relocating to Memphis, for the 2001–02 season.

The Edgewater Casino is a former casino that was located at 760 Pacific Blvd South Vancouver, British Columbia. It was in operation from 2005 to 2017.

The Plaza of Nations was an entertainment complex located on the northeast shore of False Creek in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was part of the British Columbia Pavilion during Expo '86, and along with Science World, Canada Place, and the Roundhouse Community Centre, it had been one of the remaining physical reminders of the Expo. The sheltered plaza had a capacity of 4,500 for performances. The Plaza had been nominated by the city's Heritage Commission to be added to the Vancouver Heritage Register. Along with the Roundhouse and Science World, Plaza of Nations was considered important for demarcating the spatial extent of the world's fair, which was a transformative event for the city in its centennial year. It was decided in 2007 that the building was to be demolished completely, leaving the Edgewater Casino the only remaining structure, although it may be rebuilt or redesigned. Plaza of Nations consisted of Enterprise Hall, the West Building, the East Building, and the Covered Plaza. It has been owned by Canadian Metropolitan Properties since 1990. The site housed Edgewater Casino, until its relocation to Parq Vancouver in September 2017, and hosted various cultural and entertainment events, including the Dragon Boat Festival, and has been a popular events venue for various ethnic communities in Vancouver, as well as for corporate events. Plaza of Nations was the only outdoor sheltered plaza in Vancouver, as well as the city's only cultural venue on the waterfront. It was also an important mid-size venue for popular music acts, with artists such as Foo Fighters, Hootie & the Blowfish, Fugazi, My Morning Jacket and Garbage, performing concerts at the venue. The Plaza was used for a filming location for numerous projects, such as the Stargate SG-1 episode "2010", several episodes of The Outer Limits and Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century and it served as the stadium precinct in Continuum. Planned as a temporary structure to be torn down after Expo '86, the glass roof of the plaza was found to be unsafe by city officials in November 2006, with notices to that effect being posted in the offices of the ownership on Wednesday, November 22 and subsequently the area under the canopy was fenced off for public safety. The sudden closure forced the events planned for the space to move with little or no notice (see Portobello West). In January 2007, the ownership decided that the cost of repairing the roof was too high, and opted to demolish both the roof and its two adjoining office buildings. As of November 2007, demolition of the roof has been completed and all tenants of the adjoining structures have vacated. Plans for use of the space have not been released, however the owners and the City of Vancouver are planning continued use of the plaza as a covered outdoor performance venue. As of March 2008, the west building office structure is completely demolished. The future of the site remains unclear as the east office complex has not been abandoned and the plaza concert amphitheater was rebuilt and restored with the original seating and new flooring. Oei Hong Leong bought the Plaza of Nations site from Li Ka-shing in 1989 for CAN$40 million. The site has been renamed Expo Gardens and there are plans to build 1.4 million sq ft of residential property and 700,000 sq ft of commercial and retail property.

Science World is a science centre run by a not-for-profit organization of the same name in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is located at the end of False Creek and features many permanent interactive exhibits and displays, as well as areas with varying topics throughout the years. Prior to the building being handed over to Science World by the city government in 1987, the building was built as Expo Centre for the Expo 86 world's fair. Following the end of Expo 86, the building was re-purposed as a science centre. The science centre opened on May 6, 1989, as Science World. From 2005 to 2020, the museum was branded as Science World at Telus World of Science, before it reverted to its original name.

The Vancouver Skate Plaza is a skatepark in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is located under the Georgia Street and Dunsmuir viaducts at the corner of Union St. and Quebec St. It was designed and built in 2004, making it the first Street plaza skatepark. The design mimics urban plazas popular in the downtown cores of many large cities, including handrails, ledges, and stairs. It is free to use and covers 26,000 square feet. Vancouver Skate Plaza was named as number 21 on a top-25 list of best skate parks in the world by Complex magazine in August 2013.

Stadium–Chinatown (formerly Stadium) is an elevated station on the Expo Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. The station is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at the eastern entrance of the Dunsmuir Tunnel. It is one of four stations on the Expo Line that serve Downtown Vancouver. As its name implies, the station is located near both the Stadium District and Chinatown. TransLink's Compass Customer Service Centre and Lost Property Office are located at this station.
