The Oakland Mills Bridge is a historic structure located in Oakland Mills Park southwest of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. The span carried Hickory Road over the Skunk River for 358 feet (109 m). In July 1876 the Henry County Board of Supervisors decided to locate the bridge over the Skunk River at Oakland Mills. After engineers looked over the proposals, they choose the Missouri Valley Bridge and Iron Company of Leavenworth, Kansas to build the structure. The long-span combination Pratt truss through and pony truss was completed later the same year. The steel components where manufactured by the Phoenix Iron Company of Pennsylvania. It is one of the oldest Pratt through truss bridges in Iowa. Long closed to vehicular traffic, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Oakland Mills is an unincorporated community in Henry County, Iowa, United States. The community is located along the Skunk River at the intersection of county highways W55 and H46, 3.8 miles (6.1 km) west-southwest of downtown Mount Pleasant.Oakland Mills was once home to a school, a church, a railroad station, and a hotel, along with the two mills that gave it its name. It is now the site of Oakland Mills Park, a state-owned and county-maintained park that includes a nature center and campgrounds. In the 1970s, its population was estimated at 30 to 35 people.

Cedar Creek, located in southeast Iowa, USA, is a tributary of the Skunk River. Via the Skunk River it is part of the Mississippi River watershed. Cedar Creek rises in rural Mahaska County approximately one mile west of the unincorporated community of Cedar. It passes through Wapello, Jefferson, Van Buren, and Henry counties, passing by Fairfield before joining the Skunk River near the intersection of U.S. Route 34 and Clayton Avenue, about a half mile south of Rome.

The Fish Creek Bridge is a historic structure that was originally located east of Salem, Iowa, United States. The span carried Hickory Road over Fish Creek for 50 feet (15 m). It is a small-scale, wrought-iron bridge that the Henry County Board of Supervisors bought from the George E. King Bridge Company of Des Moines in 1893 for $410.80. It was believed to have been fabricated by their parent company, King Iron Bridge Company of Cleveland, and assembled by local laborers. Its historical significance derived from its being an uncommon variant of the Pratt truss. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Subsequently, the bridge has been replaced at its original location, and the historic structure was moved to Oakland Mills Park.

In addition to the music, the station provides national, state and local news, along with high school and college sports, weather, and grain and livestock markets. Prior to 1984, the station's callsign was KKSI. When it was purchased by the owners of KILJ-FM, it was changed to KILJ.

The Joseph A. and Lydia A. Edwards House is a historic building located east of Salem, Iowa, United States. This two-story structure is a rare stone building in Henry County, and it reflects building construction from the settlement period of the county. Joseph Edwards acquired this farm in 1841. He initially lived in a house located to the west, and this house replaced it in 1866. The Italianate style residence features a symmetrical facade, flat stone lintels and window sills, a cubical form capped with a hip roof, and a wide frieze with paired brackets. It is believed that the stone for the house's construction was quarried on the north side of the Edwards' farm. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

The Owen A. and Emma J. Garretson House is a historic building located east of Salem, Iowa, United States. Its significance is derived from its association with Owen Garretson, a local farmer, politician, and historian. His parents, Joel C. and Elizabeth (Goodson) Garretson, were two of the earliest settlers in Henry County, settling here in 1837. The elder Garretson's were opposed to slavery and their farm house was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Owen farmed with his father, and eventually acquired his father's farm. He was involved locally and on the state level with the People's Party, served as a county supervisor, and on the boards of local institutions. Garretson was the president of the Henry County Historical Society, and was a member of the State Historical Society of Iowa. He wrote several articles on the history of Henry County and southeast Iowa that were published in Palimpsest and the Iowa Journal of History and Politics. The house was built around the turn of the 20th century. The 2½-story frame Queen Anne was built on a limestone foundation. It features asymmetrical massing, fishscale shingled gables with gable returns, a side bay window, cornerboards, window surrounds, and the sunburst gable on the wrap around front porch. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

The Lamm-Pollmiller Farmstead District is a nationally recognized historic district located southeast of Salem, Iowa, United States. It comprises the farm house and outbuildings that were built by Henry and Elizabeth (Cook) Lamm beginning in 1849. The Lamms were Quakers who settled here from Ohio. The house is a two-story, brick, Greek Revival. The farm is located along the old Military Road that passed along the north side of the property. Local lore said that this was a stage coach stop in the 1850s and the 1860s. The Pollmiller family bought the farm in 1905. The farmstead was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

KILJ-FM is licensed to KILJ Inc which is owned by Paul and Joyce Dennison. They also own sister station KILJ 1130 AM. In addition to the music, the station provides national, state and local news, along with high school and college sports, weather, and grain and livestock markets. According to the company website, the station was started by Frosty Mitchell and former Iowa governor Robert D. Ray in 1970. Paul and Joyce Dennison purchased the station in 1977. The sports department is headed by the award-winning Nathan Bloechl. Bloechl provides play-by-play for several southeast Iowa prep programs, is the voice of Iowa Wesleyan athletics and is the host of Beyond the Game. Theresa Rose leads the news department. The two of them co-host a daily morning talk show. The transmitter and broadcast tower are located southwest of Mount Pleasant on Oakland Mills Road. According to the Antenna Structure Registration database, the tower is 104.5 m (343 ft) tall with the FM broadcast antenna mounted at the 99 m (325 ft) level. The calculated Height Above Average Terrain is 103 m (338 ft).
