Oakland Mills is an unincorporated community in Henry County, Iowa, United States. The community is located along the Skunk River at the intersection of county highways W55 and H46, 3.8 miles (6.1 km) west-southwest of downtown Mount Pleasant.Oakland Mills was once home to a school, a church, a railroad station, and a hotel, along with the two mills that gave it its name. It is now the site of Oakland Mills Park, a state-owned and county-maintained park that includes a nature center and campgrounds. In the 1970s, its population was estimated at 30 to 35 people.

In addition to the music, the station provides national, state and local news, along with high school and college sports, weather, and grain and livestock markets. Prior to 1984, the station's callsign was KKSI. When it was purchased by the owners of KILJ-FM, it was changed to KILJ.

The Paton and Hannah Wilson House is a historic building located north of Salem, Iowa, United States. Built by 1839, this single story Greek Revival is one of the oldest brick residences in Salem Township. Paton, or Payton, served in both the Iowa territorial legislature (1840-1842) and the Iowa state legislature (1850-1852). He advocated for the rights of all people, including citizens of color. Hannah was a charter member of Salem Monthly Meeting (Quakers). The Wilson's estate sold the house to Reuben and Abigail Hallowell in 1875, and their descendants continued to own it into the 21st century. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

KILJ-FM is licensed to KILJ Inc which is owned by Paul and Joyce Dennison. They also own sister station KILJ 1130 AM. In addition to the music, the station provides national, state and local news, along with high school and college sports, weather, and grain and livestock markets. According to the company website, the station was started by Frosty Mitchell and former Iowa governor Robert D. Ray in 1970. Paul and Joyce Dennison purchased the station in 1977. The sports department is headed by the award-winning Nathan Bloechl. Bloechl provides play-by-play for several southeast Iowa prep programs, is the voice of Iowa Wesleyan athletics and is the host of Beyond the Game. Theresa Rose leads the news department. The two of them co-host a daily morning talk show. The transmitter and broadcast tower are located southwest of Mount Pleasant on Oakland Mills Road. According to the Antenna Structure Registration database, the tower is 104.5 m (343 ft) tall with the FM broadcast antenna mounted at the 99 m (325 ft) level. The calculated Height Above Average Terrain is 103 m (338 ft).

The Camp Harlan-Camp McKean Historic District, also known as the Hugh B. and Mary H. Swan Farmstead and the Springdale Stock Farm, is a nationally recognized historic district located northwest of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. At the time of its nomination it consisted of eight resources, which includes two contributing buildings, one contributing site, one contributing object and four non-contributing buildings.

The George and Margaret Cooper House is a historic building located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. It is a fine example of the Italianate style, which was a popular style for residential architecture in Mount Pleasant from the 1850s to the mid-1880s The two-story brick house features an asymmetrical plan, a low-pitched hip roof, wide bracketed eaves, and long, narrow windows. The full-width front porch has square paneled columns with foliate designs in the capitals and brackets. A single-story wing is attached to the rear of the house. A two-story, five sided wing was added to the west side of the house about ten years after the main part of the house was built. The house was built for George Cooper, a taylor, and it remained in his family until 1921. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

The former Second Baptist Church is a historic building located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. The First Colored Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, later Second Baptist Church, was founded in the summer of 1863 by members of First Baptist Church for the education and worship of the community's African American population. The congregation is also referred to as the "African Baptist Church". It is possible that this building was the original Methodist Episcopal church building constructed in 1843. It is believed that it was moved here in 1856 or 1857 for a newly established congregation of the Methodist Protestant Church. Either that or the main part of this small frame church was built here at that time. Regardless, the Methodist Protestant congregation did not succeed and the property was sold to First Baptist Church in January 1864 for use by the "Colored Baptist Church."Because the local school district integrated their schools in 1867, this building was no longer used for a school. They had a basement built under the church for social events in 1914. It is less certain when the entry vestibule was built onto the front of the building. It could have been added in 1914 when the basement was built, but it seems to have been in place by 1930. Second Baptist Church continued to worship here until 2009 when they moved to a different building. They donated this building to the Mount Pleasant Historic Preservation Commission in 2013. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Mount Pleasant City Hall is the official seat of government of the city of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. This 1½-story stone structure was designed by Burlington, Iowa architect William Weibley, and constructed by local builder K.A. Bergdahl. It is an eclectic combination of Colonial Revival styles. For the most part it reflects Georgian Revival aesthetics with its symmetrical facade and the pilasters that flank the main entrance. The stepped ends of the gable roof and the projecting gable above the main entrance reflect the Dutch Revival influence. The random ashlar stone used in its construction was salvaged from the Seeley Memorial YMCA-high school that was destroyed in a 1932 fire. The city hall's construction in 1936 was a Works Progress Administration project. The east wing, which has been altered from its original appearance, originally housed the city's police and fire departments before they moved to their own buildings. City hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The Masters Building is a historic building located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. Completed in 1937, this two story, brick structure is an adaptation of the commercial Art Deco and Art Moderne styles. The decorative elements are found in the brick patterning and cast concrete panels on the facade. There are three other buildings on this same block that were built about the same time and use the same decorative techniques, with the Masters Building being the best example. This area was an expansion of the central business district after the construction of city hall across the street in 1936. A plumbing business, for which this building was constructed, was located on the first floor. There are three apartments on the second floor. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
