Backworth railway station (1847–1965)

Moorside is a housing estate near Backworth and Shiremoor. It consists of a large housing estate, a few shops and a veterinary practice.There is a Catholic church located in Moorside, although it is usually stated as being situated in Backworth.In the early 2000s, a new community was built over the road from Moorside. It is called Northumberland Park.

Backworth is a village in the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside in the county of Tyne and Wear, England, about 3+1⁄2 miles (6 km) west of Whitley Bay on the north east coast. It lies 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Newcastle. Other nearby towns include North Shields to the southeast, Wallsend to the south, and Cramlington to the northwest. Backworth is often recognised to include Backworth Village, Castle Park Estate and moorside estate. The hamlets of West Holywell and East Holywell lie to the northeast of Backworth. Shiremoor lies to the South-East and Earsdon to the East.

Backworth railway station served part of Newcastle in the English county of Northumberland, later part of Tyne and Wear. The station opened as Hotspur, replacing another Backworth station on the line to Morpeth which had been opened as Holywell.

Northumberland Park is a Tyne and Wear Metro and future National Rail station, serving the village of Backworth and suburbs of Northumberland Park and West Allotment, North Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 11 December 2005, and is the second-newest station on the network as of March 2022.

Northumberland Park is a place in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside. Although built as an individual settlement along the A19 corridor, it is often referred to as being part of Shiremoor. There are two main housing estates in Northumberland Park and a Metro station, also named Northumberland Park. The Northumberland Park estate should not be confused with Northumberland Park on King Edwards Road, North Shields which is a park that opened in 1885.

West Allotment is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside. Prior to 1974 it was part of Northumberland. It is located approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) inland of Whitley Bay and approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) north of The Tyne Tunnel. A mile or so north of West Allotment, the extensive built-up areas of North Tyneside change abruptly into green belt stretching north into south east Northumberland. West Allotment was originally a mining community. There is a War memorial situated on the old high street. Silverlink Biodiversity Park is a local nature reserve adjacent to the village, which at the top of the hill has an ornate giant sundial at its summit.West Allotment is the nearest village to the Cobalt Business Park in North Tyneside. The Cobalt is the UK's largest office park, and is the largest conglomeration of purpose-built office space in the Northern Hemisphere. Companies housed on the business park include Procter & Gamble, Orange, Santander UK, G4S; North Tyneside Council is also based there. West Allotment Newsbeat is the villages dedicated news and information service available via Facebook.

Shiremoor is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the village of Shiremoor, North Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 11 August 1980, following the opening of the first phase of the network, between Haymarket and Tynemouth via Four Lane Ends.

Holystone is a village in North Tyneside. It is situated to the southwest of Whitley Bay, just off the A19. There is one school located within the village, Holystone Primary School.There is also a Premier Inn.

Shiremoor (originally called Tynemouthshire Moor) is a large village in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside. It is located approximately 3+1⁄2 miles (5.5 kilometres) inland of Whitley Bay and approximately three miles (five kilometres) north of The Tyne Tunnel. One mile (1.5 kilometres) or so north of Shiremoor, the extensive built-up areas of North Tyneside change abruptly into green belt stretching north into south east Northumberland. It has a population of 4,782.Shiremoor is not historically a centre of population but many housing estates were built there in the 20th and 21st centuries. Shiremoor was first built as a colliery village to accommodate the miners of the local pits. Shiremoor comprises numerous estates. They include the oldest two estates of Bertram Grange and Old Shiremoor. As well as Park Estate, Leeches Estate, and Shiremoor. In the early 2000s a new area was built, known as Northumberland Park. Although built as a separate village, estate agents refer to it as being a part of Shiremoor. Earsdon View is the newest estate to be built to the north of Shiremoor.

Prospect Hill railway station served the town of Shiremoor, Tyne and Wear, England from 1847 to 1864 on the Blyth and Tyne Railway.

Astley Community High School is a coeducational upper school (styled high school) and sixth form located in Seaton Delaval in the English county of Northumberland.It is a community school administered by Northumberland County Council, and admits pupils from Seaton Valley, particularly those graduating from Whytrig and Seaton Sluice Middle Schools.Astley Community High School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels and further BTECs. The school also offers the Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme.

Benton Square railway station served the district of Benton, Tyne and Wear, England, from 1909 to 1915 on the Blyth and Tyne Railway.
