Shiremoor Metro station

Shiremoor (originally called Tynemouthshire Moor) is a large village in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside. It is located approximately 3+1⁄2 miles (5.5 kilometres) inland of Whitley Bay and approximately three miles (five kilometres) north of The Tyne Tunnel. One mile (1.5 kilometres) or so north of Shiremoor, the extensive built-up areas of North Tyneside change abruptly into green belt stretching north into south east Northumberland. It has a population of 4,782.Shiremoor is not historically a centre of population but many housing estates were built there in the 20th and 21st centuries. Shiremoor was first built as a colliery village to accommodate the miners of the local pits. Shiremoor comprises numerous estates. They include the oldest two estates of Bertram Grange and Old Shiremoor. As well as Park Estate, Leeches Estate, and Shiremoor. In the early 2000s a new area was built, known as Northumberland Park. Although built as a separate village, estate agents refer to it as being a part of Shiremoor. Earsdon View is the newest estate to be built to the north of Shiremoor.

Prospect Hill railway station served the town of Shiremoor, Tyne and Wear, England from 1847 to 1864 on the Blyth and Tyne Railway.

Backworth railway station served part of Newcastle in the English county of Northumberland, later part of Tyne and Wear. The station opened as Hotspur, replacing another Backworth station on the line to Morpeth which had been opened as Holywell.

Earsdon is a village in the borough of North Tyneside in the county of Tyne and Wear, England. It sits on the border of Northumberland, which it is historically part of, and is approximately two miles from Whitley Bay. The village had a population of 613 in 2011.

Northumberland Park is a Tyne and Wear Metro and future National Rail station, serving the village of Backworth and suburbs of Northumberland Park and West Allotment, North Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 11 December 2005, and is the second-newest station on the network as of March 2022.

Northumberland Park is a place in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside. Although built as an individual settlement along the A19 corridor, it is often referred to as being part of Shiremoor. There are two main housing estates in Northumberland Park and a Metro station, also named Northumberland Park. West Allotment is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside. Prior to 1974 it was part of Northumberland. It is located approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) inland of Whitley Bay and approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) north of The Tyne Tunnel. A mile or so north of West Allotment, the extensive built-up areas of North Tyneside change abruptly into green belt stretching north into south east Northumberland. West Allotment was originally a mining community. There is a War memorial situated on the old high street. Silverlink Biodiversity Park is a local nature reserve adjacent to the village, which at the top of the hill has an ornate giant sundial at its summit.West Allotment is the nearest village to the Cobalt Business Park in North Tyneside. The Cobalt is the UK's largest office park, and is the largest conglomeration of purpose-built office space in the Northern Hemisphere. Companies housed on the business park include Procter & Gamble, Orange, Santander UK, G4S; North Tyneside Council is also based there. West Allotment Newsbeat is the villages dedicated news and information service available via Facebook.

Backworth railway station served the village of Backworth, Tyne and Wear, England from 1847 to 1965 on the Blyth and Tyne Railway.

Murton is a small village situated in Tyne and Wear in the North East of England and is part of the urban conurbation of North Tyneside. The village is separated by fields from the nearby areas of West Monkseaton, New York, Earsdon and Shiremoor. The village contains a public house, the Robin Hood, and an equestrian centre. Murton Farmhouse on the New York Road is a Grade II listed building, with parts dating from the 18th century.
