Brookfield recorded a population of 10,782 at the 2021 census. Brookfield was first established as Brookfield Estates by Oliver Hume Real Estate in the early 1980s to 1990s during the Melton area's rapid expansion. Since then, it has also expanded into the new estates of Madison Gardens, Botanica Springs and Silverdale.

Melton Airfield (ICAO: YMEL) is a small grass strip airfield located approximately 5 km (3.1 mi) north of the city centre of Melton in the City of Melton, Victoria, Australia. It is located at the intersection of Coburns Road and Diggers Rest – Coimadai Road. The small grass airstrip runs approximately east–west. The airfield is home to the Melton Air Services. It has four hangars and parking for light aircraft, an office and vehicle parking. The airfield was established by Terry Fogarty Sr and known in the early days as "Fogarty's Field". Terry Fogarty Jr. served as a flying instructor there for many years.

It covers 528 square kilometres (203.9 sq mi), and as of the 2021 census, Melton had a population of 178,960. It is governed by the Melton City Council. The seat of local government and administrative offices are located at Council headquarters in Melton, the settlement after which the city takes its name which lies at the western end of the LGA and is currently its largest urban area with a population of over 54,000. City of Melton has a rapid population growth rate, ranked 3rd fastest among LGAs in Victoria in 2010. It was granted city status in 2012.

Kurunjang recorded a population of 10,711 at the 2021 census. The name is derived from the Woiwurrung word "kūrūng jang" - meaning "red ground".

Kurunjang Secondary College is a co-educational secondary school built in 1986, in Kurunjang, Victoria, Australia. The principal of the school is supported by three assistant principals. Aylin Gökmen was appointed as Principal in October 2023; assistant principals appointed are Melanie Hayward, Christopher Ronalds and Kelsey Ryan. The school's community partners include Kurunjang Primary, Melton Primary, Wedge Park Primary, Melton West Primary and many other schools. Baker House is a modernist house located in Bacchus Marsh, in the outskirts of Melbourne. The house, designed by Robin Boyd, was built between 1964 and 1966. Originally built as a family home for Dr. Michael Baker, the property is now used for private functions. The house, along with two other buildings on the site, was added to the Victorian Heritage Register in 2007, having remained relatively untouched since its construction.

Along with the rest of the City of Melton, it forms a part of Greater Melbourne and counts as part of its population statistic. In 2023, Melbourne's significant urban area boundary was expanded to include Melton. Like the overall local government area, Melton was named after Melton Mowbray in the United Kingdom.

Long Forest Nature Conservation Reserve is a 600-hectare (1,500-acre) protected area in the Australian state of Victoria situated 50 kilometres (31 mi) to the west of the state capital of Melbourne, between Melton and Bacchus Marsh. It is managed by Parks Victoria.
