Melton Airfield

Harkness is a suburb in Victoria, Australia, 38 km (24 mi) North west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Melton local government area. Harkness recorded a population of 12,463 at the 2021 census. The suburb was gazetted by the Office of Geographic Names on 9 February 2017, following a proposal for eleven new suburbs by the City of Melton. The new name officially took effect from 23 August 2017. Prior to the suburb's creation, the area was mostly part of Melton West, in addition to a small section of Toolern Vale in the north. The name "Harkness" was the surname of an early settler, William Scott Harkness, who was born in Roxburghshire, Scotland in 1839 and arrived in Melbourne at Port Phillip in 1852. He was the manager of Strathtulloh and a farmer. He died in 1908.

It covers 528 square kilometres (203.9 sq mi), and as of the 2021 census, Melton had a population of 178,960. It is governed by the Melton City Council. The seat of local government and administrative offices are located at Council headquarters in Melton, the settlement after which the city takes its name which lies at the western end of the LGA and is currently its largest urban area with a population of over 54,000. City of Melton has a rapid population growth rate, ranked 3rd fastest among LGAs in Victoria in 2010. It was granted city status in 2012.

Brookfield recorded a population of 10,782 at the 2021 census. Brookfield was first established as Brookfield Estates by Oliver Hume Real Estate in the early 1980s to 1990s during the Melton area's rapid expansion. Since then, it has also expanded into the new estates of Madison Gardens, Botanica Springs and Silverdale.

Long Forest Nature Conservation Reserve is a 600-hectare (1,500-acre) protected area in the Australian state of Victoria situated 50 kilometres (31 mi) to the west of the state capital of Melbourne, between Melton and Bacchus Marsh. It is managed by Parks Victoria.

Baker House is a modernist house located in Bacchus Marsh, in the outskirts of Melbourne. The house, designed by Robin Boyd, was built between 1964 and 1966. Originally built as a family home for Dr. Michael Baker, the property is now used for private functions. The house, along with two other buildings on the site, was added to the Victorian Heritage Register in 2007, having remained relatively untouched since its construction.
