Rhydyfelin (Low Level) Halt railway station

The Hawthorn Greyhound Track was a former greyhound racing track in Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The stadium was situated on Fairfield Lane off Cardiff Road and on the south side of the Rhyd-y-Felin railway branch (now the A470). Racing began in March 1932 and ended in 1970s with the site now being a football ground used by Rhydyfelin AFC and is called the old dog track.

Hawthorn (Welsh: Y Ddraenen Wen) is a village and electoral ward within the community of the town of Pontypridd in the County Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, located 10 miles north west of Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. Historically this fell within the parish of Eglwysilan within Mid Glamorgan. The village is home to a pub (Hawthorn inn), a few shops, a post office, a leisure centre, a public swimming pool and Hawthorn High School.

Hawthorn High School (Welsh: Ysgol Uwchradd Y Hawthorn) is an English-medium comprehensive school in the village of Hawthorn near Pontypridd, in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It was filmed by the CBBC documentary series Our School in 2018 and appeared in Series 5 of the Television Show.

The Treforest tinplate works in Treforest, Wales, operated between the late 18th century and 1939. The six remaining buildings on the site were constructed in the mid 19th century during which time the iron and tinplate industries were dominated by South Wales. These buildings form the best surviving group of tinplate manufacturing buildings in the region and are Grade II* listed.

Rhydyfelin (Welsh pronunciation: [r̥ɨdəˈvɛlɪn], Mill Ford) is a large village (originally known as Rhydfelen) and part of the community of Pontypridd Town, about two miles to its south east of Pontypridd, in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf. It is on the eastern bank of the River Taff close to the A470, and historically was in the parish of Eglwysilan.

Dynea Halt was a railway station in Rhydyfelin near Pontypridd, Wales. It was a small halt on the Pontypridd, Caerphilly and Newport Railway, and closed in 1956.

Treforest (Welsh: Trefforest) is a village in the south-east of Pontypridd, in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is situated in the Treforest electoral ward, along with the village of Glyntaff (or Glyn-Taf). It is part of the Pontypridd Town community. Treforest runs along the west bank of the River Taff (Welsh: Afon Taf), while Glyntaff runs along its east bank. Treforest extends from immediately south-east of Ynysangharad Park, where the A4058 link from the A470 joins the A473 Broadway (south of the adjoining wards of Graig and Trallwn), all the way to join the Tonteg ward in the south (part of the community of Llantwit Fardre). The village is historically connected with the Crawshay family, who established a major tinplate works in 1835. Treforest is now known for its association with the University of South Wales, originally established as the Newport Mechanics Institute in the 1840s, the campus in Treforest was established as the School of Mines in 1913.Treforest Industrial Estate is not part of Treforest or its electoral ward, most of which is not even within Pontypridd. Instead, this falls partly within the area of Upper Boat (Pontypridd), but mostly within the Willowford area of Ton-Teg (Llantwit Fardre) and Nantgarw (Taffs Well ward).

Upper Boat power station supplied electricity to the town of Pontypridd and the wider area from 1904 to 1972. The power station was developed in several stages firstly in 1902, then from 1924 to 1942. It was owned and operated by the South Wales Electrical Power Distribution Company until the nationalisation of the electricity supply industry in 1948. The station was decommissioned in 1972 and was demolished in 1976.

Upper Boat Studios was a television studio complex leased to the BBC in mid-2006, and formerly operated by BBC Wales.It is located in Upper Boat, a village on the outskirts of Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, near Cardiff in Wales. The studios, previously a seat belt manufacturing factory for the automotive industry, were officially opened on 27 July 2006 (2006-07-27), by Welsh Enterprise Minister Andrew Davies, for the purpose of producing Doctor Who, along with its related spin-off programmes.

Treforest High Level railway station was located north of Llantwit Road in Treforest. The station consisted of two platforms with four lines – two central running lines while the platforms were on loops at this point.
