Treforest

Calvert's Engine or the Newbridge Colliery Engine is a beam engine of 1845, now preserved on the campus of the University of Glamorgan, South Wales.

The School of Engineering at the University of South Wales is one of university's largest schools, and is part of the university's Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science. The school was originally part of the University of Glamorgan, before the university's formation in 2013. It has divisions in aeronautical, mechanical, civil, electronic engineering and the built environment. The school hosts undergraduate courses from foundation years, to HND and HNC and bachelor's degrees (BSc and BEng). It also offers postgraduate taught (MSc and MEng) and research degrees, and doctoral level study. In 2017, the university announced that it was establishing an aviation academy in Dubai South, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, initially to provide aviation courses in the region.

The South Wales Business School is the Business School of the University of South Wales and was established in 2013. The school is currently situated in the Faculty of Creative Industries. It has expertise up to professorial level in the areas of finance and accounting, marketing, strategy, marketing, economics, enterprise, human resource management, project management, leadership and governance. The School is also a Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Centre of Excellence.

Treforest High Level railway station was located north of Llantwit Road in Treforest. The station consisted of two platforms with four lines – two central running lines while the platforms were on loops at this point.

Treforest railway station is a railway station serving the village of Treforest, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is located on the Merthyr Line and the Rhondda Line 18 km (11½ miles) north west of Cardiff Central. Passenger services are provided by Transport for Wales. The station is a short walk from the Treforest campus of the University of South Wales, and many of the passengers using the station are staff or students of the university. A station at this location was first opened by the Taff Vale Railway in 1845.

The University of Glamorgan (Welsh: Prifysgol Morgannwg) was a university based in South Wales prior to the merger with University of Wales, Newport, that formed the University of South Wales in April 2013. The university was based in Pontypridd, in Rhondda Cynon Taf, with campuses in Trefforest, Glyntaff, Merthyr Tydfil, Tyn y Wern (The Glamorgan Sport Park) and Cardiff. The university had four faculties, and was the only university in Wales which had no link with the University of Wales.In July 2012 the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport, announced that they had begun talks aimed at integrating the two institutions.

The Treforest tinplate works in Treforest, Wales, operated between the late 18th century and 1939. The six remaining buildings on the site were constructed in the mid 19th century during which time the iron and tinplate industries were dominated by South Wales. These buildings form the best surviving group of tinplate manufacturing buildings in the region and are Grade II* listed.

Glyntaff is a small village to the south-east of Pontypridd, in the County Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales situated in the Treforest ward along with the village of Trefforest.

St Mary's Church is a Church in Wales parish church in the village of Glyntaff, near Pontypridd, South Wales. It is the oldest Anglican church in the Pontypridd urban area. Formerly an independent parish, it became part of the Parish of Glyntaff, Rhydyfelin and The Graig, and is now part of the Parish of Pontypridd. It is a member of Pontypridd Christians Together.The church has a long tradition of following an Anglo-Catholic style of worship, extending at least as far back as the 1920s.

Glyntaff Halt was a small, short-lived railway halt which served the village of Glyntaff in South Wales.

Rhydyfelin (High Level) Halt railway station once served the village of Rhydyfelin in South Wales.

The Hawthorn Greyhound Track was a former greyhound racing track in Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The stadium was situated on Fairfield Lane off Cardiff Road and on the south side of the Rhyd-y-Felin railway branch (now the A470). Racing began in March 1932 and ended in 1970s with the site now being a football ground used by Rhydyfelin AFC and is called the old dog track.
