Jack London Square

Heinold's First and Last Chance is a waterfront saloon opened by John (Johnny) M. Heinold in 1883 on Jack London Square in Oakland, California, United States. The name "First and Last Chance" refers to the time in which for many sailors, the pub was the first and last chance to drink alcohol heavily before or after a long voyage. Heinold's First and Last Chance is also known as "Jack London's Rendezvous", as it was the inspiration for scenes from the Oakland writer's novels Call of the Wild and The Sea Wolf.

The Jack London District, also called the Loft District, is a neighborhood of Oakland, California, USA, that occupies the region south of the Nimitz Freeway (Interstate 880) along The Embarcadero, between Adeline and Lake Merritt Channel. It includes and surrounds the Jack London Square shopping and tourist area, as well as the Warehouse District north of the Oakland Amtrak Station. The area has a long history of industrial and warehouse land use. Since the late 1990s, the area has seen residential redevelopment.

American Bag and Union Hide Company Building is a historical warehouse building in Oakland, California. The American Bag and Union Hide Company building was built in 1917. The American Bag and Union Hide Company building was listed to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 2007. Leonard H. Thomas (1882–1967) designed the American Bag and Union Hide Company building. Thomas also designed the Hotel Harrison and the Swan's Market building, also on the National Register. Thomas' family are makers of the Thomas Guides. The building was remodeled in 1994 and 1995 by Marianne and Ron Dreisbach. American Bag and Union Hide Company was an early manufacturer of vacuum cleaners and mending machines. American Bag and Union Hide Company used cotton burlap bags sold as Guaranteed Amerbags. American Bag and Union Hide Company is a brick building noted for the use of three-dimensional polychrome brickwork in its early 20th century utilitarian architectural style. The building was American Bag Co.-Union Hide Co. headquarters from 1912 to 1988. The company is now in Walnut Creek, California. A marker was place at the 299 Third Street Oakland building site by the Jack London Neighborhood Association. The building is now a 4,400 square foot apartment-condo building in Jack London Square.

The Eat Real Festival is an annual celebration of food organized by Food Craft Institute; in Oakland, California. The festival focuses on non-GMO, antibiotic-free food; and locally produced drinks made in a sustainable and organic manner. The festival typically includes more than 70 vendors from across the state. Entry to the festival is free and an estimated 150,000 people attend every year. In 2011, the Eat Real Festival was voted the best annual event in the readers' poll conducted by the East Bay Express for the Best of the Bay. All proceeds from the festival go to the Food Craft Institute. The festival is a combination of a block party and a street-food festival. Similar to state fairs, participants learn about the production of food, how it is made, and who makes it. The event focuses on the recruitment of food vendors that are affordable while emphasizing fresh and local ingredients.

Oakland – Jack London Square station is a train station in Jack London Square of Oakland, California, United States. The station is served by Amtrak's Capitol Corridor, Coast Starlight, and San Joaquins trains. Through Amtrak Thruway buses, this station is one of two that serves San Francisco, the other being Emeryville. It is officially named Oakland – Jack London Square / C. L. Dellums Station after C. L. Dellums, co-founder of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. Of the 74 California stations served by Amtrak, Oakland was the tenth-busiest in FY2012, boarding or de-training an average of about 1,142 passengers daily.

The Western Pacific Depot, also known as 3rd Street station, was a train station in Oakland, California. It opened in 1910 as the western terminus of the Western Pacific Railroad, located on 3rd Street with street running tracks at the corner of Washington Street. It was the last stop of the original California Zephyr, and earlier Exposition Flyer. The station closed in 1970 with the end of the service. The rails leading into the station were also removed with neighboring area redeveloped. The building was subsequently sold and converted to a restaurant and multiple other tenants since. In 1974, it was designated the first Oakland Designated Landmark.

Yoshi's (also known as Yoshi's Jazz Club and Yoshi's Oakland) is a nightclub located in Jack London Square in Oakland, California, United States. The venue originally opened in 1972 as a restaurant in Berkeley, later moving to Claremont Avenue in Oakland. In 1979, the restaurant expanded into a lounge/nightclub hosting local and national jazz musicians. In 1985, the venue was rebranded as Yoshi's Nitespot until 1997, when it moved yet again within the Port of Oakland. The current location began operations May 18, 1997 with a performance by Tito Puente.

USS Potomac (AG-25), formerly USCGC Electra, was Franklin D. Roosevelt's presidential yacht from 1936 until his death in 1945. On August 3, 1941, she played a decoy role while Roosevelt held a secret conference to develop the Atlantic Charter. USS Potomac and USS Sequoia are the last two existing U.S. presidential yachts, after USS Williamsburg was scrapped in January 2016. Potomac is now preserved in Oakland, California, as a National Historic Landmark and the only presidential yacht open to the public.

The Oakland Ferry Terminal (also known as Clay Street Ferry Terminal and Jack London Square Ferry Terminal) is a ferry terminal on the San Francisco Bay, located in Jack London Square in Oakland, California.

The Central Pacific Railroad Depot is a former rail station located in Oakland, California on 7th Street west of Broadway. Originally serving as the western terminal of the San Francisco and Oakland Railroad, the Central Pacific Railroad chose the line as the final link of their transcontinental route and acquired the line and station in 1869. Southern Pacific began operating the line in 1885, and most traffic was rerouted to the 16th Street station when that facility opened in 1912. An additional track was added at some point and both electrified for use in the Key System. A stop continued to operate out front, but the station building had been converted to the Mi Rancho Tortilla Factory in 1939. Tracks were removed with the dismantling of the system. The building was evaluated for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, however was deemed unlikely to qualify due to changes on the facade.

United States lightship Relief (WLV-605) is a lightvessel now serving as a museum ship in Oakland, California. Built in 1950, she is one of a small number of surviving lightships, and one of an even smaller number built specifically for the United States Coast Guard. Along with her sister ship, the WLV-604 Columbia, she is a good example of the last generation of lightships built. She was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1989.

Dunns Block is a historical building in Oakland, California. The Dunns Block was built in 1879. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 15, 1978. The Dunns Block building is at 725 Washington Street, Oakland. Dunns Block was designed by William Stokes (1833–1901). T Stokes also designed the Henry House-Portland Hotel on Ninth Street and in 1879 the Hall of Records. The building has been: MJB Coffee Shop, a book store and a tailor shop. The City of Oakland listed Dunns Block as Oakland Landmark #16, #LM 82–264 on November 9, 1982.
