Wilbraham Fens

Leightonstone was a hundred of Huntingdonshire mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It took its name from the stone at Leighton Bromswold where the area's moot was held. In modern times it was an ecclesiastical administrative area within the Diocese of Ely.The Hundred of Leightonstone containing the parishes of Alconbury-Cum-Weston; Barham; Brampton; Brington; Buckworth; Bythorn; Catworth; Copmanford; Covington; Easton; Ellington; Great Gidding; Little Gidding; Steeple Gidding; Grafham; Hamerton; Keyston; Kimbolton; Leighton Bromswold; Molesworth; Spaldwick; Stow Longa; Swineshead; Thurning (part); Tilbrook; Upton; Old Weston; Winwick (part); Woolley. In two cases in the Domesday Book (in the lands of Eustace the Sheriff, and in those of the Countess Judith), the lands of this hundred are given as in Kimbolton Hundred. It is possible that this may have been an alternative name, but it is more probably due to a mistake of the Domesday scribe.

Stow cum Quy , commonly referred to as Quy, is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England. Situated around 4 miles (6.4 km) north east of Cambridge lying between the Burwell Road (B1102) and the medieval Cambridge to Newmarket road (B1303, formerly A14), it covers an area of 764 hectares (1,890 acres).

Quy Hall is a Grade II* listed English country house at Stow cum Quy, Cambridgeshire. Originally dating from the late 15th century, it was completely remodelled in 1870. It stands in its own grounds overlooking a lake in the Quy Water.

Fulbourn railway station (for some time misspelled "Fulbourne" by British Rail) is a disused railway station on the Ipswich to Ely Line, and located between Cambridge and Six Mile Bottom. It served the Cambridgeshire village of Fulbourn, until its closure in January 1967. Although the station is now closed, the line remains in use—with passenger services provided by Abellio Greater Anglia. Reopening of the station was proposed by Cambridgeshire County Council in May 2013 as part of an infrastructure plan to deal with projected population growth up to 2050.

Great Wilbraham Common is a 23.5-hectare (58-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Great Wilbraham in Cambridgeshire. It is managed by the Commons Right Holders.This is one of the largest remaining areas of species-rich grassland in the county. Locally uncommon flora include purple milk-vetch, felwort, meadow saxifrage, green-winged orchid and sulphur clover.There is access by a footpath from Wilbraham Road

Fulbourn is a village in Cambridgeshire, England, with evidence of settlement dating back to Neolithic times. The village was probably established under its current name by 1200. The waterfowl-frequented stream after which it was named lies in the east, close to the division between arable and fenland.

Zouches Manor (also Zouches Castle) was an Anglo-Saxon moated manor in Fulbourn Fen, a Site of Special Scientific Interest in the village of Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire, England. It is one of the historic Five Manors of Fulbourn and recorded to have existed 1066 AD to 1539 AD.

Fulbourn Fen is a 27.3-hectare (67-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire. It is privately owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.There are ancient meadows on calcareous loam and peat which have never been intensively farmed, so they have a rich diversity of flora and fauna. Herbs in drier areas include cowslip and salad burnet, while wetter areas have tall fen vegetation.There is access by a track from Stonebridge Lane.There are eight separately named woods in Fulbourn Fen: The Cringles - north & north-east Moat Wood - north-west Thackets Wood - west Ansett's Wood - south-west Old Orchard - south Hancock's Wood - central Widow's Wood - south-east Old Orchard - southand five separate meadows: Ox Meadow - west Moat Meadow - north-west - the site of the remains of Zouches Manor Long Fen Pasture - central East Fen Pasture - east Four Acre - south-east

Great Wilbraham is a Neolithic causewayed enclosure, an archaeological site near the village of Great Wilbraham in Cambridgeshire, England. The enclosure is about 170 metres (560 ft) across, and covers about 2 hectares (4.9 acres). Causewayed enclosures were built in England from shortly before 3700 BC until at least 3500 BC; they are characterized by the full or partial enclosure of an area with ditches that are interrupted by gaps, or causeways. Their purpose is not known; they may have been settlements, meeting places, or ritual sites. The Great Wilbraham enclosure was first identified from aerial photographs in 1972. An excavation was begun in 1975 by David Clarke, with a planned five-year research programme, but Clarke died in 1976 and the results from the dig remained unpublished for years. The surviving part of the archive of finds and records from Clarke's dig was reanalysed in the 2000s, and published in 2006. The site was rich in finds, including Neolithic flint, pottery from periods stretching from the Neolithic to the present day, and animal bone—mostly cattle, but also some sheep and pig. Radiocarbon dating of two samples from the enclosure found dates inconsistent with their context, and were assumed to be the result of later material intruding into the Neolithic levels. The site has been protected as a scheduled monument since 1976.
