Estadio Municipal Carlos Tartiere is a multi-use stadium in Oviedo, Spain. With a capacity of 30,500 seats, it is the 17th-largest stadium in Spain and the largest in Asturias. The new Carlos Tartiere replaced the former stadium of the same name built in 1932, as the home venue of Real Oviedo. The stadium has held three games of the Spain national football team (the city has held seven in total), one game of the Spain national under-21 team and another one of the Asturian autonomous team.

Oviedo railway station (Spanish: Estación de Oviedo or Estación del Norte) is the main station in the Spanish city of Oviedo, capital of the province of Asturias. It opened in 1874 and was reconstructed after the Spanish Civil War. The station provides a wide range of long- and middle-distance services, in addition to regional and suburban (cercanías) services operated by Renfe, and the narrow-gauge Renfe Feve lines. These services connect Oviedo with the other main centres of Asturias and the remainder of the Cantabrian seaboard, and with other parts of Spain including the inland plateau, the Levante and Catalonia.The station is located at the end of calle de Uría, a main commercial thoroughfare. It is adjacent to the bus station (Estación de Autobuses de Oviedo), built in 2003.

The urban sculpture known by the name of Asturias is located in calle Uría, in front of the railway station, in the city of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain. It is one of over a hundred sculptures that adorn the streets of that city.The sculpture, executed in coal and steel, is the work of José Noja, and dates from 1991. It was commissioned from Noja by the rail company Renfe, which sought a work of art to adorn the rail station of Oviedo. This large-scale work is intended as a homage to the Principality of Asturias, and so it incorporates materials such as coal that are characteristic of Asturian industry.

The General Junta of the Principality of Asturias (in Spanish: Junta General del Principado de Asturias, in Asturian: Xunta Xeneral del Principáu d'Asturies) is the parliament of Asturias, an autonomous community of Spain. Its Statute of Autonomy, the basic organic law of the community, defines it as the supreme institution of representation of the Asturian people. Established in 1982, it has the name of an Asturian political institution that existed from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The General Junta exercises the legislative power, approves the budgets of the community, and guides and controls the action of the Council of Government, the executive power, whose leader it elects as the "President of the Principality of Asturias". It also exercises all competences conferred or devolved to the autonomous communities in the Constitution of Spain and assumed by the community itself in its Statute of Autonomy and any other relevant law. The General Junta is integrated by 45 members called "deputies" (in Spanish: diputados) for a period of four years unless it is dissolved by the President of the Principality, who then calls for new elections. Club Deportivo Vallobín is a Spanish football club based in Oviedo, Asturias. Founded in 1994, it plays its home games at Estadio Vallobín, in the namesake neighbourhood.

Oviedo (UK: , US: , Spanish: [oˈβjeðo]; Asturian: Uviéu [uˈβjeʊ]) is the capital city of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain and the administrative and commercial centre of the region. The siege of Oviedo was a siege in the Spanish Civil War that lasted from 19 July until 16 October 1936. The town garrison, under the command of Colonel Antonio Aranda Mata, took sides for the Nationalist uprising and held out until relieved by a Nationalist force from Galicia.
