Great Holland Pits

Dream 100 was an Independent Local Radio station owned and operated by Bauer. It broadcast to Tendring and Essex from studios in Colchester and Ipswich, airing the same music programming as sister station Town 102. The station was folded into Greatest Hits Radio East, as part of a rebrand and merger, on 1 September 2020.

Holland-on-Sea is suburb of Clacton, in the Tendring district, in east Essex in England. Located south of the little village of Great Holland and directly north of Clacton-on-Sea, it has bus links to Walton-on-the-Naze and Clacton-on-Sea. It is a short coastal walk down the coastline to Clacton. There is a public library, four churches, St Bartholomew’s Church (Church of England), All Souls Catholic Church, Holland Methodist and a Baptist church. The village has several independent shops, a village hall, a primary school, one main hotel (The Kings Cliff Hotel), plus a number of guest houses and pubs. It has several beaches with facilities for bathing and boating. There are two Sites of Special Scientific Interest, Holland Haven Marshes, part of which is Holland Haven Country Park, and Holland-on-Sea Cliff.

Great Holland is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Frinton and Walton, in the Tendring district, in the county of Essex, England. It is to the north-east of Holland-on-Sea, and west of Frinton-on-Sea. The village is served by a bus service to Clacton-on-Sea to the south and Kirby Cross, to the north. The village is served by two churches, a Methodist church and the parish church, 'All Saints'. There is an annual church fete held in the grounds of the Old Rectory funds of which go to All Saints. In 2020 the built-up area subdivision had an estimated population of 797.Great Holland has a community owned pub called The Ship Inn.

Kirby Cross railway station is on the Walton branch of the Sunshine Coast Line in the East of England, serving the village of Kirby Cross, Essex. It is 67 miles 55 chains (108.9 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Thorpe-le-Soken to the west and Frinton-on-Sea to the east. Its three-letter station code is KBX. It is currently managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving the station.

Holland-on-Sea Cliff is a 0.1-hectare (0.25-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Holland-on-Sea, north-west of Clacton-on-Sea in Essex. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This site is of great importance in understanding the evolution of the London Basin, and it is the type site for two different gravels. The "Lower Holland Gravel" was the final terrace laid down by the River Thames before the river was diverted south during the Anglian glaciation around 450,000 years ago. The "Upper Thames Gravel" was deposited when the Thames was blocked by ice and not reaching the area. As the terraces can be attributed to the Anglian glaciation, they provide a fixed point for correlation other Anglian sequences in southern Britain and on the Continent.The site is a short stretch of the slope between the Esplanade and the Promenade, opposite Haven Avenue. No geology is visible.

Kirby Cross is a village in Tendring district, Essex, England. It is situated near to Kirby-le-Soken and Frinton-on-Sea. Historically, Kirby Cross was a hamlet within the parish of Kirby-le-Soken, but since 1934 both settlements have been part of Frinton and Walton civil parish.It is the location of Kirby Cross railway station on the Sunshine Coast branch of the Great Eastern Main Line.

Holland Haven Marshes is a 208.8-hectare (516-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Clacton-on-Sea in Essex. It is an L-shaped site which stretches along the coast from Frinton-on-Sea to Holland-on-Sea, and then north along the Holland Brook. It includes Holland Haven Country Park, a 22.1 hectare Local Nature Reserve owned and managed by Tendring District Council.A network of ditches radiates from Holland Brook, and these have several nationally scarce aquatic plant species, such as brackish water crowfoot and divided sedge. The site also has grasslands which are botanically important. There are also rare invertebrates, including the Red Book soldier fly Stratiomys singularior. There are many breeding and wintering birds. The country park has a bird hide, parking, and toilets.There is access to the country park from a coastal footpath, but much of the site is on private land with no public access.

Holland Football Club is a football club based in Holland-on-Sea, Essex, England. They are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Division One North and play at Dulwich Road.

Kirby-le-Soken is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Frinton and Walton, in the Tendring district of North East Essex, England, which is mainly agricultural, but increasingly residential, near Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze. In 2018 the built-up-area had an estimated population of 1387. In 1931 the parish had a population of 836. On 1 April 1934, the parish was abolished to form "Frinton and Walton", part also went to Thorpe-le-Soken.Kirby-le-Soken is in an area called The Sokens, isolated from Kirby Cross, Frinton-on-Sea, and Walton-on-the-Naze by fields.

Frinton Golf Club is a coastal golf club, located on the suburbs of Frinton-on-Sea, Essex, England.The club was instituted founded in 1895 and officially instituted in August 1896. In 1910 it had a membership of 380. The course length is 6265 yards and was designed by Willie Park Jnr. in 1904, with later additions by Harry Colt. The club course also dates to this period, designed by Homer & Sharp and built between 1903 and 1905. The Ryder Cup golfers practiced here in 1929 prior to their first Ryder Cup victory at Moortown. In 1929-31 the club was involved in a legal dispute over the sale of alcohol on the premises.

Thorpe Hall was a manor house built in the Georgian style at Thorpe-le-Soken in Essex, England.

The Sokens is a name often used to describe the area containing the traditional parishes of Thorpe, Kirby and Walton, which now lie in Tendring district in the Naze area of northeast Essex. The significance of this grouping is now mostly historical. The name 'Soken' is derived from the Saxon 'soc' or 'soca', signifying immunity, peculiar privileges and jurisdiction. It refers in particular to the power to administer justice within itself, and likewise the circuit within which such power was exercised. Among others was the claim that no bailiff except the lord's bailiff could arrest any person within the parish.
