All Saints Church, East Ham

The A118 is a road in east London, England which links Bow Interchange with Gallows Corner in Romford via Stratford and Ilford. The section from Bow Interchange to Gallows Corner formed the original route of the A12 until the designation was transferred to the Eastern Avenue soon after the latter opened in 1925. Parts of the route have an even older pedigree, forming the Camulodunum (Colchester) to Londinium (London) extension of the Pye Road.Recently, the A118 was extended westwards from its former terminus at Stratford to Bow, taking over the former A11 Stratford High Street when the A12 extension opened in 1999. Thus 70 years after the Eastern Avenue was built, the A12 finally by-passed the whole of the A118, unlike the situation previously, where the A12 ended on the A11 due north of Stratford at Leytonstone. The road is known as Romford Road for much its length in the London Borough of Newham, High Road while in the London Borough of Redbridge and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and London Road while in the London Borough of Havering. A final section linking Romford with Gallows Corner is known as Main Road. The path of the road has been altered to bypass Ilford and Romford town centres. The road is served by London Buses route 86 for most its length with other routes serving various sections. The same route is also followed by part of the Great Eastern Main Line.

Woodgrange Park railway station is a railway station on Romford Road in Manor Park in the London Borough of Newham, east London. It is served by London Overground, and is on the Gospel Oak to Barking line, 12 miles 1 chain (19.3 km) down the line from Gospel Oak; it lies in Travelcard Zones 3 and 4. It has only limited station buildings and facilities.

Manor Park railway station is on the Great Eastern Main Line serving Manor Park in the London Borough of Newham, east London. It is 6 miles 20 chains (10.1 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Forest Gate and Ilford. Its three-letter station code is MNP and it is in Travelcard Zone 3/4. It is currently managed by Transport for London and is on the Elizabeth line between Shenfield and London Paddington. Manor Park is a short walk from Woodgrange Park on the Gospel Oak to Barking line, and an out-of-station interchange is available one stop to the west, at Forest Gate, for Wanstead Park.

The Earl of Essex is a Grade II listed public house at 616 Romford Road, Manor Park, London.It was built in 1902 by the architects Henry Poston and William Edward Trent.The pub has been closed since 2012, and as of April 2016, it is hoped to reopen in the near future.

St Nicholas' Chapel, Manor Park is a Roman Catholic church in Manor Park, East London.

Tyndale Academy was an independent, fee-paying tuition group in East London for children aged 4 to 11 years of age. The academy, based at the Hope Baptist Chapel had an evangelical Christian ethos but accepted children from all faiths or none. It was established in 1999 and was named after the English church reformer William Tyndale who as well as being a Bible translator was a tutor of children.

St Edmund's Church, Forest Gate or the Church of St Edmund, King and Martyr, Forest Gate is an Anglo-Catholic church in the Forest Gate area of Newham, east London. It is dedicated to Edmund the Martyr. It originated in 1895 as the Red Post Lane mission district of All Saints parish. It became a parish of its own in 1901, with a permanent church completed in 1932. It now forms part of the East Ham Team Parish (also known as the Parish of the Holy Trinity) alongside St Mary Magdalene's Church, St Bartholomew's Church and St Alban's Church.

Plashet is a locality of East Ham in the London Borough of Newham in East London located between West Ham (Upton Park) and Manor Park. It contains Plashet Jewish Cemetery, Plashet Park, and several places of worship.The area was home to prison reformer Elizabeth Fry, who lived in Plashet House from 1809 to 1829, and also her daughter Katherine who lived in Plashet Cottage. Both of these properties were demolished in the 1880s to make way for the terraced streets that now characterise the area.Steve Marriott lead singer of the Small Faces was born at East Ham Memorial Hospital located in the Plashet area. The poet Benjamin Zephaniah has also lived in Plashet.

St Michael's Church, Rutland Road is a church in East Ham, east London, originally built for the Church of England. It was established as a mission church of St Stephen's Church, East Ham in 1895, with services held in Saxby Villas, Red Post Lane (now Katherine Road) until the completion of a temporary iron church in 1898. In 1912 a permanent church was built. This housed the congregation of St Stephen's after that church was damaged by bombing in 1940 and after that parish was dissolved in 1953 St Michael's was instead attached to St Edmund's Church. It closed as an Anglican church in 1971 and now houses a Romanian Orthodox church.

Grangewoood Independent School is an independent primary school situated in Chester Road, Forest Gate, in the London Borough of Newham, United Kingdom. It is a member of the Independent Schools Association and was last inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in May 2016. The school provides Christian education for boys and girls aged 2–11 years.

The Forest Gate raid was a Metropolitan Police operation on 2 June 2006. It resulted in the arrest of two men at their east London homes in Forest Gate by police acting on what they described as "specific intelligence" that they might be terrorists in possession of a chemical bomb. One of the men was shot during the raid. No explosive devices were found during the raid, nor was there any evidence of terrorist activity. The men were released without charge. Mohammed Abdul Kahar was again cleared, after 44 indecent images of children had been found on a computer's hard drive, an external hard drive, and a mobile phone recovered during the raid. No charges were filed, as: "The prosecution was not satisfied that Mr Kahar had the necessary computer expertise to enable him ... to transfer the images to the Nokia phone."Subsequent inquiries cleared the officers involved of any "criminal or disciplinary offence". Metropolitan Police apologised for the raid. The apology was welcomed by the families affected, but they demanded the investigation of the steps the police took to assess the quality of the intelligence leading to the raids.The cost of the operation exceeded two million pounds.
