Montreal International Jazz Festival

Montreal is one of the administrative regions of the Canadian province of Quebec. It is also a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and a census division (CD), for both of which its geographical code is 66. Prior to the merger of the municipalities in Region 06 in 2002, the administrative region was co-extensive with the Montreal Urban Community. Located in the southern part of the province, the territory includes several of the islands of the Hochelaga Archipelago in the Saint Lawrence River, including the Island of Montreal, Nuns' Island (Île des Sœurs), Île Bizard, Saint Helen's Island (Île Sainte-Hélène), Île Notre-Dame, Dorval Island (Île Dorval), and several others. The region is the second-smallest in area (499.26 km², or 192.77 sq mi) and most populous (1,942,044 as of the 2016 Canadian Census) of Quebec's seventeen administrative regions.

Montreal Central Station (French: Gare centrale de Montréal) is the major inter-city rail station and a major commuter rail hub in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Nearly 11 million rail passengers use the station every year, making it the second-busiest train station in Canada, after Toronto Union Station. The main concourse occupies almost the entire block bounded by De la Gauchetière Street, Robert-Bourassa Boulevard, René Lévesque Boulevard and Mansfield Street in downtown Montreal. Its street address and principal vehicular access are on de La Gauchetière; pedestrian access is assured by numerous links through neighboring buildings. The station is adorned with art deco bas-relief friezes on its interior and exterior. The station building and associated properties are owned by Cominar REIT as of January 2012. Homburg Invest Inc. (renamed Canmarc in September 2011) was the previous owner, since November 30, 2007. Prior to that, from the station's inception in 1943, it had been owned by Canadian National Railway (CN). Central Station is at the centre of the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor, the busiest inter-city rail service area in the nation (marketed as the Corridor), which extends from Windsor and Sarnia in the west, through Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, to Quebec City in the east. Inter-city trains at Central Station are operated by Via Rail and Amtrak, while commuter rail services are operated by Réseau de transport métropolitain (RTM). The station is also slated to become a hub for the Réseau express métropolitain, currently under construction. The station is also connected to the Montreal Metro subway system. Central Station is the second-busiest Via Rail station in Canada, after Toronto Union Station. Its Via station code is MTRL; its Amtrak code is MTR, and its IATA code is YMY.

Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth (French: Fairmont Le Reine Élizabeth) is a historic grand hotel in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. With 950 rooms and 21 floors it is the largest hotel in the province of Quebec, and the second largest Fairmont hotel in Canada after the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, which has 1365 rooms. Located at 900 René Lévesque Boulevard West, in the heart of Downtown Montreal, it is connected to Central Station and to the underground city. The hotel is well known for being the location for John Lennon and Yoko Ono recording "Give Peace a Chance" in Room 1742 during their 1969 anti-war Bed-In.

The Terminal Tower (also known as Le 800 René Lévesque) is a skyscraper in downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is 30 storeys, and 125 metres (410 ft) tall. Completed in 1966, it was the last phase of CN's developments in the area, along with the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, Central Station and the CN Building. It was built in the international-style architecture, with a concrete and glass facade. The Terminal Tower is located at 800 René Lévesque Boulevard West opposite Place Ville-Marie, and next to the Queen Elizabeth Hotel.

Place Bonaventure is an office, exhibition, and hotel complex in Downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada, adjacent to the city's Central Station. At 288,000 m2 (3,100,000 sq ft) in size, Place Bonaventure was the second largest commercial building in the world at the time of its completion in 1967. It is one of very few buildings in Canada to have its own postal code prefix, H5A.

Le Port-Royal (also known as Port-Royal Apartments) is an apartment building on Sherbrooke Street in the Golden Square Mile district of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is 33 stories, and 122 metres (400 ft) tall. Completed in 1964, it used to be the highest residential building in Canada east of Toronto until the completion of Altitude Montreal in 2013. It was built in the modernist style, with a concrete and glass facade. Le Port-Royal is located at 1455 Sherbrooke Street West opposite Mackay Street, and next to the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul. The building consists of luxury apartments.

1000 de la Gauchetière is a skyscraper in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is named for its address at 1000 De la Gauchetière Street West in the city's downtown core. It is Montreal's second tallest building. It rises to the maximum height approved by the city (the elevation of Mount Royal) at 205 m (673 ft) and 51 floors. A popular feature of the building is its atrium, which holds a large ice skating rink.

Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral or in full Mary, Queen of the World and St. James the Great Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Marie-Reine-du-Monde et St-Jacques-le-Majeur) is a minor basilica in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and the seat of the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Montreal. It is the third largest church in Quebec after Saint Joseph's Oratory (also in Montreal) and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré east of Quebec City. The building is 101 m (333 ft) in length, 46 m (150 ft) in width, and a maximum height of 77 m (252 ft) at the cupola, the diameter of which is 23 m (75 ft). The church is located at 1085 Cathedral Street at the corner of René Lévesque Boulevard and Metcalfe Street, near the Bonaventure metro station and Central Station in downtown Montreal. It and the connected Archdiocese main buildings form the eastern side of Place du Canada, and occupies of dominant presences on Dorchester Square.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Montréal (Latin: Archdioecesis Marianopolitana) is a Latin rite Metropolitan archdiocese seated in the City of Montreal, Quebec. It includes Montreal and surrounding areas within Quebec.

Bonaventure is a Montreal Metro station in the borough of Ville-Marie in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and serves the Orange Line. It opened on February 13, 1967, four months after most of the initial network. It served as the western terminus of the Orange Line for 14 years until the extension to Place-Saint-Henri station opened in 1980.

Terminus Centre-Ville is a bus terminus located within 1000 de La Gauchetière in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is multimodal with the Bonaventure Metro station and Lucien-L'Allier Metro station on the Orange Line, and the Central Station in the city's downtown core. The terminus has 21 gates in three areas. Terminus Mansfield is an overflow facility built directly next to the site.

Place Ville Marie (PVM for short) is a large office and shopping complex skyscraper in Downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada, comprising four office buildings and an underground shopping plaza. It serves as the main and official headquarters for Royal Bank of Canada, Canada's Largest Bank. The main building, 1 Place Ville Marie (formerly Royal Bank Tower from its anchor tenant), was built in the International style in 1962 as the headquarters for the Royal Bank of Canada, which it still is presently. It is a 188 m (617 ft), 47-storey, cruciform office tower. The complex is a nexus for Montreal's Underground City, the world's busiest, with indoor access to over 1,600 businesses, numerous subway stations, a suburban transportation terminal, and tunnels extending throughout downtown. A counter-clockwise rotating beacon on the rooftop lights up at night, illuminating the surrounding sky with up to four white horizontal beams that can be seen as far as 50 kilometres (31 mi) away. The light is not for airplanes.
