Fatima's Grill is a restaurant specializing in Lebanese and Mexican fusion cuisine. First opened as a taco stand in 2016, its main location is presently located at 7840 Firestone Boulevard in Downey, California, part of the Gateway Cities region of Los Angeles County.

The Casa de Rancho San Antonio, also known as the Gage Mansion, is the oldest remaining house in Los Angeles County. Construction began in 1795 by Antonio María Lugo, a prominent Californio ranchero. Today, the California Historic Landmark is located within the city of Bell Gardens, California.

The oldest McDonald's restaurant is a drive-up hamburger stand at 10207 Lakewood Boulevard at Florence Avenue in Downey, California, United States. It was the third McDonald's restaurant and opened on August 18, 1953. It was also the second restaurant franchised by Richard and Maurice McDonald, before the involvement of Ray Kroc in the company. The restaurant is the oldest one in the chain still in existence and is one of Downey's main tourist attractions. Along with its sign, it was deemed eligible for addition to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, although it was not added at the time because the owner objected.

Johnie's Broiler, originally known as Harvey's Broiler and currently operating as Bob's Big Boy Broiler, is a restaurant located in Downey, California that first opened in 1958. From 2002 to 2006, the building and parking lot housed a used car dealership. The building was largely demolished in January 2007. However, the restaurant was reconstructed in 2009 and re-opened as part of the Bob's Big Boy chain, while retaining the original building's look and design. Due to its 1950s Googie style, the restaurant has been featured in several movies and TV shows.

PIH Health Hospital – Downey is a non-profit community-based hospital located in Downey, California. The hospital operates a family medicine residency program for newly graduated osteopathic physicians (DO). According to U.S. News & World Report, the hospital scores highly in patient safety and orthopedics. With 955 employees, the hospital is the 5th largest employer in the city of Downey.In 2009, the hospital filed chapter 11 reorganization proceedings, citing financial system breakdowns and poor contracts as contributing factors; the hospital also serves a number of local residents that are underinsured or uninsured, contributing to financial challenges. Following the bankruptcy, the hospital was taken over by PIH Health, who also operates Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier and PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital in downtown Los Angeles. The hospital has since invested in a new cardiac catheter lab, new general chemistry machines and digital mammography technology.

Earl Warren High School, is a public secondary school located in Downey, California (United States). Warren High School enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is a part of the Downey Unified School District.

Ellen Ochoa Prep Academy is a magnet high school in Pico Rivera, California, United States. It is a part of the El Rancho Unified School District. Ochoa Prep provides a college preparatory curriculum.The school opened in 2016 and stands on the former Selby Grove Elementary lot.

Stonewood Center, sometimes referred to as Stonewood Mall, is a shopping mall located in Downey, California, which is one of the Gateway Cities of Southeastern Los Angeles County. It is located at the intersection of Firestone and Lakewood Boulevards, and it is from this intersection that the mall's name is derived ("Firestone" + "Lakewood"). It is within a few miles of many freeways in the area: I-5 and I-605, I-710 and I-105 freeways. The mall is owned and operated by The Macerich Company and is part of its trifecta of malls in southeast Los Angeles County along with the Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos and the Lakewood Center in Lakewood. Stonewood Center comprises 145 stores, including several restaurants. The mall is anchored by J. C. Penney, Macy's, Kohl's and Sears.

Bell Gardens is a city in the U.S. state of California in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Bell Gardens is part of the Gateway Cities Region, a largely urbanized region located in southeastern Los Angeles County. The “Gardens” in its name derives from the many Japanese who, early in Bell Gardens’ existence, established vegetable gardens and rice fields. The Promenade at Downey is a 77-acre (31 ha) 656,000-square-foot (60,900 m2) retail power center in Downey, California, built on the 1,500,000-square-foot (140,000 m2) mixed-use development on the site of the former Downey Studios, which before that was the site of a Boeing/NASA industrial complex, originally built in 1948 by North American Aviation. The original name that was to be given to the center was "Tierra Luna Marketplace".Anchors include Walmart, Cinemark multicinema, Burlington, ULTA Beauty, Five Below, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods. There are signed walks on the property with information about the site's history in relation to film and to aerospace.The Promenade is immediately adjacent to Downey Landing, another power center built on the northernmost 34 acres of the aerospace site, anchored by Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, DSW Shoe Warehouse, Bally Total Fitness, PetSmart, Pier 1 Imports, and Staples. Also adjacent are Kaiser Permanente Downey hospital (built on 30 acres of the site) and the Columbia Memorial Space Center.
