Downey High School

Downey is a city located in Southeast Los Angeles County, California, United States, 13 mi (21 km) southeast of Downtown Los Angeles. It is considered part of the Gateway Cities. The city is the birthplace of the Apollo space program. It is also the home of the oldest operating McDonald's restaurant in the world. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 114,355.

PIH Health Hospital – Downey is a non-profit community-based hospital located in Downey, California. The hospital operates a family medicine residency program for newly graduated osteopathic physicians (DO). According to U.S. News & World Report, the hospital scores highly in patient safety and orthopedics. With 955 employees, the hospital is the 5th largest employer in the city of Downey.In 2009, the hospital filed chapter 11 reorganization proceedings, citing financial system breakdowns and poor contracts as contributing factors; the hospital also serves a number of local residents that are underinsured or uninsured, contributing to financial challenges. Following the bankruptcy, the hospital was taken over by PIH Health, who also operates Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier and PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital in downtown Los Angeles. The hospital has since invested in a new cardiac catheter lab, new general chemistry machines and digital mammography technology.

Stonewood Center, sometimes referred to as Stonewood Mall, is a shopping mall located in Downey, California, which is one of the Gateway Cities of Southeastern Los Angeles County. It is located at the intersection of Firestone and Lakewood Boulevards, and it is from this intersection that the mall's name is derived ("Firestone" + "Lakewood"). It is within a few miles of many freeways in the area: I-5 and I-605, I-710 and I-105 freeways. The mall is owned and operated by The Macerich Company and is part of its trifecta of malls in southeast Los Angeles County along with the Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos and the Lakewood Center in Lakewood. Stonewood Center comprises 145 stores, including several restaurants. The mall is anchored by J. C. Penney, Macy's, Kohl's and Sears.

Earl Warren High School, is a public secondary school located in Downey, California (United States). Warren High School enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is a part of the Downey Unified School District.

Fatima's Grill is a restaurant specializing in Lebanese and Mexican fusion cuisine. First opened as a taco stand in 2016, its main location is presently located at 7840 Firestone Boulevard in Downey, California, part of the Gateway Cities region of Los Angeles County.

The oldest McDonald's restaurant is a drive-up hamburger stand at 10207 Lakewood Boulevard at Florence Avenue in Downey, California, United States. It was the third McDonald's restaurant and opened on August 18, 1953. It was also the second restaurant franchised by Richard and Maurice McDonald, before the involvement of Ray Kroc in the company. The restaurant is the oldest one in the chain still in existence and is one of Downey's main tourist attractions. Along with its sign, it was deemed eligible for addition to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, although it was not added at the time because the owner objected.

The Promenade at Downey is a 77-acre (31 ha) 656,000-square-foot (60,900 m2) retail power center in Downey, California, built on the 1,500,000-square-foot (140,000 m2) mixed-use development on the site of the former Downey Studios, which before that was the site of a Boeing/NASA industrial complex, originally built in 1948 by North American Aviation. The original name that was to be given to the center was "Tierra Luna Marketplace".Anchors include Walmart, Cinemark multicinema, Burlington, ULTA Beauty, Five Below, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods. There are signed walks on the property with information about the site's history in relation to film and to aerospace.The Promenade is immediately adjacent to Downey Landing, another power center built on the northernmost 34 acres of the aerospace site, anchored by Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, DSW Shoe Warehouse, Bally Total Fitness, PetSmart, Pier 1 Imports, and Staples. Also adjacent are Kaiser Permanente Downey hospital (built on 30 acres of the site) and the Columbia Memorial Space Center.

Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Downey is a Swaminarayan Hindu temple in Downey. It comes under the Laxmi Narayan Dev Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. In 2009, the temple celebrated its 9th anniversary with a Ram Katha, Maha Vishnu Yagna and Maruti Yagna in the presence of Rakeshprasad.

The Downey Studios was a production studio in Downey, California. The studio featured 320,000 square metres (79 acres) of indoor and outdoor production space including a 4,600-square-metre (50,000 sq ft) building and a 23,000 square metres (250,000 sq ft) building which was home of the largest indoor water tank in North America. A suburban residential street backlot built especially for Christmas with the Kranks, with 5 complete homes and 11 facades, was also available at the studio. The studios were created out of the former Rockwell International plant where the Space Shuttle orbiters as well as some vehicles for the Apollo space program were assembled. The studios occupied only a portion of the former plant with the Downey Landing shopping complex, a Kaiser Permanente hospital, a park, and Columbia Memorial Space Center museum taking up the remainder of the space. In October 2012 demolition of Downey Studios had begun. The Promenade at Downey retail power center is located on the site today.

The Casa de Parley Johnson is a historic house in Downey, California, U.S.. It was built for Alexander Parley Johnson, an heir to citrus fields, real estate and oil investments, in 1927. It was designed in the Spanish Revival architectural style by Roland Coate. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 20, 1986.

The Columbia Memorial Space Center (CMSC) is a science museum in the Los Angeles area, at 12400 Columbia Way, City of Downey, California, US. It is owned and operated by Downey, and open to the general public as a hands-on space museum and activity center.

Space Shuttle Inspiration is a full-scale Space Shuttle mockup built in 1972 by North American Rockwell. The plastic and wood model was made to promote the company's bid to construct the Space Shuttle fleet.
