WCHK (1290 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a Spanish-language Latin pop radio format, known as "La Mega." Licensed to Canton, Georgia, it serves Metro Atlanta. The call sign stands for Cherokee, the county of which Canton is the seat of government, largest city, and geographic center. The station is currently owned by Davis Broadcasting of Atlanta, L.L.C. By day, WCHK is powered at 10,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna. But at night, to protect other stations on 1290 AM, it switches to a directional antenna and greatly reduces power to 500 watts. The transmitter is on Keith Drive, near Interstate 575 and Hickory Log Creek in Canton. WCHK is also heard on two FM translator stations: 96.5 W243CE in Winder and 105.1 W286DU in Canton.

Hickory Log Creek Dam is a gravity dam on the Hickory Log Creek which runs from northeast and north-central Cherokee County, Georgia, United States, south-southwest to the northeastern part of Canton, the county seat. It is a tributary of the Etowah River, which it meets shortly after crossing under Riverstone Parkway (formerly Ball Ground Highway and Georgia 5). Since the end of November 2007, a stream gauge (location identifier HLCG1) is located just below the dam, at an elevation of 860 feet (262 m) AMSL (NGVD29). The drainage basin above this point has an area of 8.33 square miles (21.57 km2).[1]

Macedonia is an unincorporated community along Georgia Highway 20 in eastern Cherokee County, Georgia, United States approximately six miles east of the county seat, Canton. The center of Macedonia is approximately 45 miles north of Atlanta via I-75 / I-575 or 35 miles via Georgia 400. Straight-line distance indicates mileage of 31 miles from the center of downtown Atlanta. One theory as to how the community derived its name is from Macedonia Baptist Church, which was established in the late 1870s; from there an elementary school along Dock Lathem Trail (now closed) was also called Macedonia. Macedonia also had a second elementary school along Cokers Chapel Road prior to the present Macedonia Elementary School, built in 1956. Macedonia Elementary underwent a significant renovation and a new schoolhouse was built in 1997 to accommodate growth of the local population.

Cherokee County Regional Airport (ICAO: KCNI, FAA LID: CNI, formerly 47A) is a county-owned public-use airport in Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. It is located six nautical miles (7 mi, 11 km) northeast of the central business district of Canton, Georgia. The airport is adjacent to Interstate 575, about halfway between the city of Canton and the city of Ball Ground. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned CNI by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned CNI to Changhai Airport in the People's Republic of China). It was previously 47A when it was known as the Cherokee County Airport, prior to improvements made in the 2010s. A redevelopment project currently underway includes an already completed 10,000-square-foot (930 m2) terminal; the ongoing lengthening of the runway from its previous 3,414 feet (1,041 m) to 5,000 feet (1,524 m); a new parallel taxiway; instrument landing equipment; and new hangars. The new facilities will accommodate 200 hangared corporate aircraft and provide 100 tie-downs for smaller aircraft.

The Canton Theatre is an old theatre located in the downtown area of Canton, Georgia and has been in existence since early 1911. During that time the theatre has experienced many changes with redevelopments, expansions and even restoration after it had fallen into disrepair. The theatre provides patrons with theatrical and musical productions since its change into a non-profit theatre in 2003.

The Canton Commercial Historic District in Canton, Georgia is a 2 acres (0.81 ha) historic district which is roughly bounded by Main, Church, Archer, and Marietta Streets. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and included 10 contributing buildings. It was deemed significant in architecture for its "collection of modest late-nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century commercial buildings that reflect the types and styles of buildings built in the central business districts of Georgia's small towns. In terms of commerce, the district is significant for representing the intact portion of Canton's historic central business district."It includes: Bank of Canton (1892), Beaux Arts-style Canton Theatre (1913, remodeled ca. 1940) Art Moderne-style.The Cherokee County Courthouse, also National Register-listed, is about a block away from the district.

Sequoyah High School is a public high school located in Hickory Flat, Georgia, United States. It educates students in grades 9–12. It opened in the fall of 1990 and is one of six high schools in Cherokee County. The school is informally located in the small neighborhood of Hickory Flat on a three-school plot of land dubbed the Ralph Quarles Educational Complex, consisting of Hickory Flat Elementary, Dean Rusk Middle, and Sequoyah High School. The complex is on the northwest block of the intersection of East Cherokee Drive and Hickory Road. Preliminary schools in the Sequoyah cluster are Hickory Flat, Indian Knoll, Mountain Road, and Holly Springs Elementaries, and Dean Rusk Middle School. In athletics the school participates in Classification AAAA, Region/Area 7.

Cherokee County Courthouse in Canton, Georgia was built in 1928. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.The previous courthouse was destroyed in a fire in March 1927. The new one was a five-story Neoclassical Revival building that dominates over Canton's public square. It is significant architecturally in part because it is one of few courthouses in Georgia made of local marble.It was designed by architect A. Ten Eyck Brown (1878-1940). There was a master sculptor, Jimmy Watt, who supervised other sculptors including David Ashe Herschel Couch and B. Maloni who carved the four eagles above the front portico.

Hickory Flat is an unincorporated community in southeastern Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. It geographic center is now a triangle formed by GA 140 on the north and east, Hickory Rd on the south, and East Cherokee Drive on the west. This triangle is now the business hub of the community with two shopping centers anchored by grocery stores. It also contains the Hickory Flat Public Library and the Sequoyah High School educational complex which includes feeder schools; Hickory Flat Elementary and Dean Rusk Middle School.

The Cherokee County School District manages the 40 schools in Cherokee County, Georgia, United States. The school district's leadership consists of an elected seven-member school board.The board's chairperson is elected by the county at large and does not represent a single post. The school board appoints a school superintendent; Dr. Brian V. Hightower has held this position since 2016.Under Georgia state law, individual board members are not permitted to act individually in any capacity but rather as an entire board based on majority rule. The superintendent is responsible for all employees in the district.
