The Drayton Plains State Fish Hatchery was the second fish hatchery opened by the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources (previously known as the Michigan Conservation Department). It was established in 1903 and originally named Drayton Plains Station. The name was officially changed to Drayton Plains State Fish Hatchery in 1934.The Drayton Plains State Fish Hatchery was opened along the Clinton River on Mill Street (later Hatchery Road) in what was then Drayton Plains, Michigan (now Waterford Township). Its purpose was to raise bass fingerlings on its 18-acre site. The Drayton Plains State Fish Hatchery was listed as a Michigan Historic Site on August 24, 1984.

Scott Lake is a 77.5-acre (31.4 ha) all-sports lake in Waterford Township in Oakland County, Michigan.The private, 35-foot (11 m) deep lake, all-sports lake is spring fed and is entirely residential. It is located north of Scott Lake Rd. and west of Dixie Highway.

Loon Lake is a freshwater lake located in Waterford Township, Michigan. It borders Dixie Highway on the west and is south of Walton Blvd. on the north. The sand-bottom lake is 243 acres (98 ha), making it the 18th largest lake in Oakland County, Michigan and one of the largest in Waterford Township. Loon Lake is located on the upper reaches of the Clinton River watershed. The Clinton River enters Lake Loon on the north end from Lake Oakland upstream. The Clinton River exits to the southwest downstream of Loon Lake. Loon Lake also connects to Silver Lake to the east. From Loon Lake, the Clinton River heads west toward the Drayton Plains State Fish Hatchery and then winds its way southward to Cass Lake.At its deepest point, the lake is 73 feet (22 m) deep, making it the ninth deepest lake in Oakland County. Drayton Plains is an unincorporated community in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located within Waterford Township. As an unincorporated community, Drayton Plains has no legally defined area or population statistics of its own. It once had its own post office with the 48020 ZIP Code but now uses the 48329 Waterford ZIP Code. It is located on Dixie Highway near the west end of Loon Lake.

Geneva Lake is a lake located in Waterford Township, Michigan. It lies west of Highland Rd. (M-59) and north of Elizabeth Lake Rd. The 19-acre (7.7 ha), 35-foot (11 m) deep lake connects with Fiddle Lake to the north and Otter Lake to the south. Geneva Lake was previously named Carp Lake as late as 1908.

Mott High School or Waterford Mott High School is a public high school in the Waterford School District located in Waterford, Michigan. The official name of the high school is Charles S. Mott High School, named for the automotive industry pioneer.

Waterford Durant High School is an alternative high school in Waterford, Michigan. It is operated by the Waterford School District and is one of three high school within the district.The school was opened in 2009 Under the title “Waterford Alternative High School” and in 2012 was renamed and relocated to “Waterford Durant High School” and moved from a no longer standing building behind Waterford Kettering to WSD Administration/Crary Middle School (Closed 2017) Building located at 501 North Cass Lake Road. For the 2019-2020 School year enrollment at waterford peaked at 280 9th-12th graders. Durant is open & accepting to students from across Oakland County.

Clam Lake is a lake located in Waterford Township, Michigan. It lies north of Highland Rd. (M-59), south of Hatchery Rd, west of Crescent Lake Rd. and east of Airport Rd.The 21-acre lake is spring fed.
